B
About
20
years
ago,I
took
a
job
in
a
small
hospital’s
emergency
department.No
one
wanted
to
work
on
New
Year’s
Eve,so
the
shift
(轮班)went
to
me.I
kissed
my
family
goodbye
and
went
off
to
spend
the
night
in
the
hospital.It
was
a
thankless
job.
At
9
p.m.,the
ambulance
brought
in
a
man
in
his
60s
who
was
having
a
heart
attack.His
face
was
pale,and
he
was
frightened.The
whole
night
I
did
my
best
to
save
his
life.Before
I
left
in
the
morning
to
spend
New
Year
with
my
family,I
stopped
by
to
see
how
he
was
doing.It
was
still
tough,but
he
had
survived
the
night
and
was
sleeping.
The
following
year
I
got
New
Year’s
Eve
duty
again.At
9
p.m.
sharp,the
ward
clerk
told
me
there
was
a
couple
who
wanted
to
speak
with
me.When
I
approached
them,the
man
introduced
himself
as
Mr
Lee
and
said,“You
probably
don’t
remember
me,but
last
New
Year’s
Eve
you
saved
my
life.Thank
you
for
the
year
you
gave
me.”
He
and
his
wife
hugged
me,handed
me
a
small
gift,and
left.
The
following
year
a
new
doctor
had
joined
the
group,but
I
wanted
to
see
if
Mr
and
Mrs
Lee
would
return.This
time,I
volunteered
for
the
shift.I
kept
an
eye
on
the
door.Once
again,at
exactly
9
p.m.,the
Lees
appeared,carrying
a
warmly
wrapped
bundle.It
was
their
new
grandchild.Mr
Lee,his
family
and
I
spent
13
New
Year’s
Eves
together.In
the
later
years
the
staff
all
knew
about
the
story
and
would
work
to
give
me
time
with
him
in
the
break
room,where
we
spent
a
half-hour
each
New
Year’s
Eve.
The
last
year
I
saw
him,he
brought
me
a
gift.I
carefully
opened
the
package
and
found
a
crystal
(水晶)bell
inside.It
was
engraved
(镌刻)with
a
single
word:
Friendship.Now,my
family,friends
and
I
ring
that
bell
every
New
Year’s
Eve
at
exactly
9
p.m.
and
offer
our
best
wishes
to
the
man
who
we
won’t
forget.

refused
to

job.

was
really
angry
with
her.

was
still
in
a
state
of
danger.
C.He
got
ready
to
leave
the
hospital.
D.He

from
his
heart
attack.
7.According

New
Year’s
Eve
with
her
family

New
Year
gifts
to
the

staff
C.spending
New
Year’s
Eve
with
Mr
Lee
in
the
hospital
D.ringing
the
bell
for
patients
in
the

department

A.To
honor
her
working
experience.
B.To
tell
kids
the
traditional
custom.

the

C
Spotify
can
tell
if
you’re
sad.Here’s
why
that
should
scare
you.Want
to
figure
out
if
someone
is
a
patient
with
a
mental
disability?Ask
them
what
their
favorite
song
is.A
New
York
University
study
last
year
found
that
people
who
loved
Eminem’s
Lose
Yourself
and
Justin
Bieber’s
What
Do
You
Mean?were
more
likely
to
have
trouble
with
mental
disabilities⑩
than
people
who
were
into
Dire
Straits.
Over
the
past
few
years,Spotify
has
been
improving
the
ability
to
analyze
information
to
help
businessmen
target
consumers
with
advertisements
made
specially
for
their
needs.They
conclude
this
from
the
sort
of
music
you’re
listening
to,combined
with
where
and
when
you’re
listening
to
it,along
with
third-party
data
that
might
be
available.
Now,to
be
clea,there’s
nothing
significantly
illegal
about
what
Spotify
is
doing
with
your
information.I
certainly
don’t
think
that
they
are
working
with
shadow
consulting
firm
to
serve
you
ads
selling
a
culture
struggle
while
you’re
listening
to
music
that
suggests
you
might
be
in
a
terrible
situation.However,I
find
it
disappointing
that
our
personal,private
moments
with
music
are
increasingly
being
turned
into
information
points
and
offered
to
advertisers.
You
can
see
where
this
could
go,can’t
you?As
ad
targeting
gets
even
more
accurate,businessmen
will
have
the
ability
to
target
our
feelings
in
potentially
improper
way.According
to
one
study,you
are
more
likely
to
spend
more
on
a
product
if
you’re
feeling
sad.You
can
imagine
some
companies
might
take
advantage
of
that.And
on
that
not,I’m
feeling
a
little
down
about
all
this.Head
off
to
treat
myself
to
something
expensive.

A.To
introduce
a

draw
readers’
attention.
C.To

patients.
D.To

If
you’re
worried
that
too
much
“screen
time”
could
badly
influence
your
child’s
intelligence,new
research
suggests
you
might
be
right.By
analyzing
the
data
gathered
from
over
4,500
U.S.kids
aged
8
to
11
between
2016
and
2017,Jeremy
Walsh,a
postdoctoral
fellow
with
the
CHEO
Research
Institute
in
Ottawa,found
that
too
much
“screen
time”
could
be
harming
your
child’s
intelligence.Kids
with
the
sharpest
intellects
spent
less
than
two
hours
a
day
on
their
cellphones,tablets
and
computers,coupled
with
9
to
11
hours
of
sleep
and
at
least
an
hour
of
physical
activity.
Too
much
screen
time
could
be
affecting
kids’
ability
to
focus,especially
if
they
are
switching
between
apps
on
a
device
or
between
different
screens
at
the
same
time,Walsh
suggested.“One
leading
hypothesis(假设)is
that
much
time
on
screens
is
spent
multitasking,using
multiple
apps
or
devices
at
once,”he
said.“This
can
interfere
with
a
child’s
ability
to
focus
and
keep
interest
on
a
task.It
can
be
damaging
the
building
blocks
for
good
cognition(认知).”
Sleep
is
important
for
brain
development,since
that’s
when
the
brain
reorganizes
itself
and
grows,Walsh
added.Besides,exercise
has
been
shown
to
increase
blood
flow
to
the
brain
and
oxygenation
of
brain
tissues,and
increases
the
connectivity
of
networks
in
the
brain.Too
much
screen
time
could
lead
to
a
“cascade”
effect
where
kids
don’t
get
enough
sleep
and
then
are
less
active
during
the
day.“You
can
see
how
this
would
have
an
impact
on
brain
health,”Walsh
said.
What
should
parents
do?Walsh
advised
setting
firm
rules
regarding
the
use
of
screens,including
how
long
children
are
using
the
screens,the
kinds
of
apps
they
are
using
and
how
many
screens
they
are
using
at
once.Concerned
parents
also
should
preview
games
or
apps
before
letting
their
children
play,seek
out
more
interactive
(交互的)options
that
engage
the
children’s
minds,and
use
parental
controls
to
block
or
filter
content
and
limit
screen
time.

答案与解析
【语篇解读】这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了美国红十字会成立的历史。
1.organization 考查名词。不定冠词an后应接名词,故填organization。
2.how 考查主语从句。no
matter
how为固定词组,意为“无论怎样”,修饰形容词bad,故填how。
3.terribly 考查副词。此处修饰形容词injured,应该用其副词形式,故填terribly。
4.the 考查冠词。the
whole

阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
If
you’re
worried
that
too
much
“screen
time”
could
badly
influence
your
child’s
intelligence,new
research
suggests
you
might
be
right.By
analyzing
the
data
gathered
from
over
4,500
U.S.kids
aged
8
to
11
between
2016
and
2017,Jeremy
Walsh,a
postdoctoral
fellow
with
the
CHEO
Research
Institute
in
Ottawa,found
that
too
much
“screen
time”
could
be
harming
your
child’s
intelligence.Kids
with
the
sharpest
intellects
spent
less
than
two
hours
a
day
on
their
cellphones,tablets
and
computers,coupled
with
9
to
11
hours
of
sleep
and
at
least
an
hour
of
physical
activity.
Too
much
screen
time
could
be
affecting
kids’
ability
to
focus,especially
if
they
are
switching
between
apps
on
a
device
or
between
different
screens
at
the
same
time,Walsh
suggested.“One
leading
hypothesis(假设)is
that
much
time
on
screens
is
spent
multitasking,using
multiple
apps
or
devices
at
once,”he
said.“This
can
interfere
with
a
child’s
ability
to
focus
and
keep
interest
on
a
task.It
can
be
damaging
the
building
blocks
for
good
cognition(认知).”
Sleep
is
important
for
brain
development,since
that’s
when
the
brain
reorganizes
itself
and
grows,Walsh
added.Besides,exercise
has
been
shown
to
increase
blood
flow
to
the
brain
and
oxygenation
of
brain
tissues,and
increases
the
connectivity
of
networks
in
the
brain.Too
much
screen
time
could
lead
to
a
“cascade”
effect
where
kids
don’t
get
enough
sleep
and
then
are
less
active
during
the
day.“You
can
see
how
this
would
have
an
impact
on
brain
health,”Walsh
said.
What
should
parents
do?Walsh
advised
setting
firm
rules
regarding
the
use
of
screens,including
how
long
children
are
using
the
screens,the
kinds
of
apps
they
are
using
and
how
many
screens
they
are
using
at
once.Concerned
parents
also
should
preview
games
or
apps
before
letting
their
children
play,seek
out
more
interactive
(交互的)options
that
engage
the
children’s
minds,and
use
parental
controls
to
block
or
filter
content
and
limit
screen
time.

restricting
their
cognitive

results
in
inadequate
sleep
and
lack
of
physical
activity,which
do
harm
to
the
brain
health.(要点3)Accordingly,parents
are
advised
to
establish
strict
regulations
concerning
