B
A
few
years
ago,
I
had
the
honor
of
traveling
through
Accra,
Ghana,
an
African
city.
As
I
rode
down
a
main
avenue,
images
grabbed
my
attention.
On
one
side
of
the
street,
African
children
dressed
in
rags
were
playing
in
an
open
gutter
(排水沟).
On
the
other
side
of
the
street,
there
was
a
billboard
advertisement
featuring
palm
trees,
a
beach,
and
a
white
man
lowering
sunglasses
from
his
eyes.
If
you
are
a
fan
of
the
American
police
shows,
it’s
not
hard
to
see
that
the
man
in
the
ad
is
David
Caruso,
the
righteous(正义的)
cop
in
Crime
Scene
Investigation:
Miami.
The
dichotomy
of
images
was
a
reminder
not
only
of
the
international
impact
of
American
pop
culture,
but
of
the
specific
influence
of
TV
police
shows.
In
Hollywood,
I’m
a
rare
creature,
a
black
man
who
has
made
a
career
writing
for
network
police
shows,
having
eventually
created
my
own
show,
S.W.A.T.,
for
CBS.
For
me,
writing
television
can
never
simply
be
about
entertainment.
The
unjust
death
of
the
African
American
George
Floyd
keeps
me
wondering
how
the
shows
we
are
writing
contribute
to
the
understanding
of
the
justice
system,
class,
race,
and
the
image
of
black
men.
I
look
at
this
not
as
a
creative
burden,
but
a
necessary
responsibility.
The
past
60
years
have
seen
numerous
cop
shows
like
Dragnet
and
Adam
12,
where
police,
typically
are
beacons(灯塔)
of
morality
who
never
do
wrong
while
criminals
are
always
people
of
color,
particularly
black
men.
This
can
make
for
wildly
popular
entertainment,
but
it
also
risks
mistaking
fantasies
for
reality.
People
watch
TV
to
see
heroes,
but
how
are
we
defining
who
a
hero
is?
For
people
of
color,
especially
black
people,
the
viewing
experience
is
complex.
4.
The
images
the
author
saw
in
Africa
imply________.
A.
the
unrealistic
advertisement
B.
TV
police
shows’
great
popularity
C.
poor
education
of
African
children
D.
the
background
of
American
culture
5.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“dichotomy”
in
paragraph
2
probably
mean?
A.
Contrast.
B.
Trend.
C.
Confusion.
D.
Boom.
6.
What
can
we
learn
about
the
author?
A.
He
writes
plays
for
pleasure.
B.
He
is
very
creative
and
influential.
C
He
has
created
many
shows
including
Dragnet.
D.
He
has
high
sense
of
justice
and
responsibility.
7.
What’s
the
author’s
attitude
to
traditional
TV
police
shows?
A.
Ambiguous.
B.
Objective.
C.
Disapproving.
D.
Appreciative.
C
Singapore
researchers
say
they
have
developed
a
form
of
electronic
skin
that
can
create
a
sense
of
touch.
They
hope
their
invention
will
give
people
with
prosthetic
hands(假肢)the
ability
to
identify
different
objects.
The
skin
device
measures
1
square
centimeter.
The
system
contains
100
small
sensors
that
attempt
to
recreate
things
like
texture(质地),temperature
and
even
pain.
The
researchers
call
the
device
Asynchronous
Coded
Electronic
Skin(ACES),which
can
process
information
faster
than
the
human’s
nervous
system.
Machine
learning
methods
trained
the
device
to
recognize
20
to
30
different
textures.
It
can
even
correctly
read
Braille
letters(布莱叶盲文)most
of
the
time.
The
system
does
not
require
the
users’movement
to
work.
They
just
need
to
slide
to
feel
texture.
But
in
this
case
the
skin,with
just
a
single
touch,is
able
to
detect
textures
of
different
roughness.
A
demonstration
showed
that
the
device
could
identify
the
difference
between
a
soft
ball
and
a
solid
plastic
one.
“When
you
lose
your
sense
of
touch,you
essentially
become
numb
and
prosthetic
users
face
that
problem,”said
Benjamin
Tee,leader
of
the
research
team.
“So
by
recreating
an
artificial
version
of
the
skin
for
their
prosthetic
devices,they
can
hold
a
hand
and
feel
the
warmth
and
feel
that
it
is
soft.

Tee
said
his
idea
for
the
device
came
from
the
movie
Star
Wars,when
character
Luke
Skywalker
loses
his
right
hand
and
it
is
replaced
with
a
robotic
one.
In
the
film,the
new
hand
is
able
to
experience
touch
sensations
just
like
the
real
one.
The
artificial
skin
technology
is
still
going
through
experiments
and
development.
But
Tee
said
there
had
already
been
a
lot
of
interest
in
the
system,especially
from
the
medical
community.
Tee
said
similar
inventions
that
his
team
has
developed
include
see-through
skin
that
can
repair
itself
when
torn
and
a
material
for
wearable
electronic
devices
that
gives
off
light.
8.
What
can
we
learn
about
the
artificial
skin
in
Paragraph
2?
A.
It
is
sensitive
to
high
temperature.
B.
It
reacts
faster
than
our
nervous
system.
C.
It
can
recognize
different
objects.
D.
It
helps
the
users
memorize
Braille
letters.
9.
What
can
be
inferred
from
Benjamin
Tee’s
words?
A
The
artificial
skin
feels
like
a
real
thing.
B.
People
with
the
artificial
skin
feel
warm.
C.
People
don’t
want
to
lose
the
sense
of
touch.
D
He
is
sympathetic
towards
the
prosthetic
users.
10.
What
inspired
Benjamin
Tee
to
create
the
artificial
skin?
A.
The
desire
to
help
those
in
need.
B.
The
life
of
the
disabled.
C.
A
dream
of
earning
more
money.
D.
A
scene
from
a
famous
movie.
11.
Which
word
can
best
describe
the
artificial
skin
technology?
A.
Profitable.
B.
Stable.
C.
Promising.
D.
Challenging.

“A
CAREER
BOOK
about
Asians?
Aren’t
they
doing
fine…?”
So
begins
Breaking
the
Bamboo
Ceiling,
a
very
large
scholarly
book
by
Jane
Hyun
published
in
2005.
Because
Asian-Americans
had
higher
incomes
and
education
levels
and
committed
fewer
crimes
than
their
average
countrymen,
they
were
seen
as
a
model
minority.
Despite
this,
they
rarely
rose
to
the
top
of
companies.
A
mix
of
individual,
cultural
and
organizational
barriers

the
“bamboo
ceiling”
of
the
book’s
title

seemed
to
prohibit
them
from
rising.
Fifteen
years
later
Asians
are
still
under-represented.
In
the
technology
sectors,
Asians
make
up
over
30%
of
the
workers
but
less
than
15%
of
bosses.
In
2017
Asians
made
up
roughly
6%
of
the
country’s
population
but
only
3%
of
the
bosses
of
S&P
500
(标准普尔
500
指数)
firms.
Some
prominent
Asians
run
big
companies.
Arvind
Krishna
is
IBM’s
new
boss.
Satya
Nadella
runs
Microsoft
and
Sundar
Pichai
leads
Alphabet.
But
few
other
Asians
have
joined
their
ranks

and,
revealingly,
these
stars
all
have
Indian
roots.
There
are
fewer
South
Asians
in
America
than
East
Asians,
but
they
still
made
up
13
of
all
16
Asian
S&P
500
CEOs.
Why
are
there
so
few
Asians
among
America’s
business
elite?
And
if
a
bamboo
ceiling
is
to
blame,
why
do
South
Asians
break
through
more
easily?
These
questions
are
the
focus
of
a
study
by
Jackson
Lu
of
MIT
Sloan
School
of
Management
and
colleagues,
who
surveyed
hundreds
of
senior
executives
and
business-school
students.
They
found
that
while
discrimination
exists,
it
is
not
destiny.
South
Asians
endure
greater
racism
than
East
Asians
but
still
outperform
even
whites
(if
success
is
weighed
against
share
of
population).
Their
research
also
rules
out
lack
of
ambition:
a
greater
share
of
Asians
than
whites
endeavor
for
high-status
jobs.
That
leaves
culture.
The
researchers
conclude
that
South
Asians
tend
to
be
more
determined
and
confident
than
East
Asians
in
how
they
communicate
at
work,
which
fits
Western
concepts
of
how
a
leader
should
behave.
The
same
tendency
for
confident
remarks
featured
in
“The
Argumentative
Indian”,
a
book
by
Amartya
Sen,
a
Nobel-prize
winning
economist.
The
researchers
owe
East
Asians’
silence
to
Confucian
values
of
modesty
and
respect
for
social
ranking.
Sometimes
bravery
and
bombast
are
needed
to
break
bamboo.

B.
Discrimination.
C.
Lack
of
ambition.
D.
Culture.
15.
Why
do
South
Asians
succeed
in
American
business
more
easily?
A.
Western
people
prefer
modesty
to
confidence
in
communication.
B.
The
confidence
they
demonstrate
consists
with
Western
leadership.
C.
They
endure
greater
racism
and

阅读下面材料,
根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It
was
probably
her
giggling(咯咯笑)
that
drew
my
attention.
English
reading
really
wasn’t
that
funny
as
far
as
I
knew.
It
was
early
May
and
I
was
facing
a
class
of
sixteen
kids.
Though
I
had
almost
three
years
of
teaching,
this
particular
sixth
grade
class
had
pushed
me
to
the
limits
of
my
patience
far
too
many
times,
and
I
couldn’t
wait
to
wave
goodbye
to
them
for
the
summer.
I
had
kept
away
from
the
ideal
of
my
first
year
of
teaching.
That
first
year
I’d
covered
up
the
small
hole
in
the
window
with
an
inspirational
poster.
I’d
decorated
the
walls
with
pictures
of
famous
universities.
I
told
the
kids
daily
that
they
always
had
something
worth
struggling
for.
Together
we
would
work
hard
and
make
something
of
their
lives.
The
problem,
of
course,
was
that
my
ideals
kept
being
defeated
by
reality.
Not
just
the
reality
of
troubled
families.
I
was
also
faced
with
the
basic
reality
of
the
twelve-
and
thirteen-year-old
mind.
The
universal
mind,
“You
can’t
make
me!”
And
now
I
was
faced
with
a
giggle
when
I
should
have
had
only
full
attention.
Walking
over
to
the
young
peacebreaker,
I
asked
for
the
note
she
had
in
her
hands.
Frozen,
she
refused
to
give
it
to
me.
I
waited,
all
attention
in
the
room
on
the
quiet
battle
between
teacher
and
student.
When
she
finally
handed
it
over,
saying,
“Okay,
but
I
didn’t
draw
it,”
which
showed
this
wasn’t
just
an
ordinary
note
being
passed.
After
getting
the
class
going
on
an
English
reading
test,
I
finally
had
a
chance
to
look
through
it.
It
was
a
hand-drawn
picture
of
me,
eyes
monitoring
widely,
teeth
blackened,
and
the
words
“I’m
stupid”
coming
out
of
my
mouth.
There
was
no
doubt
about
who
it
was
supposed
to
be.
I
managed
to
fold
up
the
picture
calmly.
My
mind,
however,
was
working
angrily
and
wanting
to
criticize
some
students
on
the
scene.
I
figured
I
knew
the
two
most
likely
candidates
for
drawing
the
picture.
Maybe
it
was
high
time
that
I
did
it!

续写词数应为150左右;

请按如下格式在相应位置作答。

images

my

On

African

there

If
you

to
see
that
the
man
in
the

is
David

the

The

of

was
a
reminder
not
only
of
the
international
impact
of
American
pop

but
of
the

In

I’m
a
rare
creature,
a

has
made
a

having
eventually
created
my
own

S.W.A.T.,

For
me,
writing

The

and
the

of
black

I
look
at
this
not
as
a
creative
burden,
but
a
necessary
responsibility.
The
past
60
years
have
seen
numerous
cop
shows
like
Dragnet
and
Adam
12,
where
police,
typically
are
beacons(灯塔)
of
morality
who
never
do
wrong
while
criminals
are
always
people
of
color,
particularly
black
men.
This
can
make
for
wildly
popular
entertainment,
but
it
also
risks
mistaking
fantasies
for
reality.
People
watch
TV
to
see
heroes,
but
how
are
we
defining
who
a
hero
is?
For
people
of
color,
especially
black
people,
the
viewing
experience
is
complex.

D.

mean?
A.

Singapore
researchers
say
they
have
developed
a
form
of
electronic
skin
that
can
create
a
sense
of
touch.
They
hope
their
invention
will
give
people
with
prosthetic
hands(假肢)the
ability
to
identify
different
objects.
The
skin
device
measures
1
square
centimeter.
The
system
contains
100
small
sensors
that
attempt
to
recreate
things
like
texture(质地),temperature
and
even
pain.
The
researchers
call
the
device
Asynchronous
Coded
Electronic
Skin(ACES),which
can
process
information
faster
than
the
human’s
nervous
system.
Machine
learning
methods
trained
the
device
to
recognize
20
to
30
different
textures.
It
can
even
correctly
read
Braille
letters(布莱叶盲文)most
of
the
time.
The
system
does
not
require
the
users’movement
to
work.
They
just
need
to
slide
to
feel
texture.
But
in
this
case
the
skin,with
just
a
single
touch,is
able
to
detect
textures
of
different
roughness.
A
demonstration
showed
that
the
device
could
identify
the
difference
between
a
soft
ball
and
a
solid
plastic
one.
“When
you
lose
your
sense
of
touch,you
essentially
become
numb
and
prosthetic
users
face
that
problem,”said
Benjamin
Tee,leader
of
the
research
team.
“So
by
recreating
an
artificial
version
of
the
skin
for
their
prosthetic
devices,they
can
hold
a

and
feel
the

and
feel
that
it
is
soft.

Tee
said
his
idea
for
the
device
came
from
the
movie
Star
Wars,when
character
Luke
Skywalker
loses
his
right
hand
and
it
is
replaced
with
a
robotic
one.
In
the
film,the
new
hand
is
able
to
experience
touch
sensations
just
like
the
real
one.
The
artificial
skin
technology
is
still
going
through
experiments
and
development.
But
Tee
said
there
had
already
been
a
lot
of
interest
in
the
system,especially
from
the
medical
community.
Tee
said
similar
inventions
that
his
team
has
developed
include
see-through
skin
that
can
repair
itself
when
torn
and
a
material
for
wearable
electronic
devices
that
gives
off
light.
8.
What
can
we
learn
about
the
artificial
skin
in
Paragraph
2?
A.
It
is
sensitive
to
high
temperature.
B.
It
reacts
faster
than
our
nervous
system.
C.
It
can
recognize
different
objects.
D.
It
helps
the
users
memorize
Braille
letters.
9.
What
can
be
inferred
from
Benjamin
Tee’s
words?
A.
The
artificial
skin
feels
like
a
real
thing.
B
People
with
the
artificial
skin
feel
warm.
C.
People
don’t
want
to
lose
the
sense
of

D.
He
is

towards
the

10.
What
inspired
Benjamin
Tee
to
create
the
artificial
skin?
A.
The
desire
to
help
those
in

B.
The
life
of

C.
A

【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章主要讲了新加坡研究人员已经开发出一种可以产生触觉的电子皮肤。这种人造皮肤就像真的皮肤一样。
【详解】1.细节理解题。根据第二段第三句“…which
can
process
information
faster
than
the
human's
nervous
system.”(它处理信息的速度比人类的神经系统还要快。)可知,人造皮肤的反应速度比我们的神经系统快。故选B。
2.推理判断题。根据第四段尤其是最后一句话“So

the
skin,
for
their
prosthetic
devices,
they
can
hold
a
hand
and
feel

warmth
and
feel
that
it
is
soft.”(因此,通过为他们的假体设备重新创造一种人造皮肤,他们可以握住一只手,感觉到温暖和柔软。)可知,这种人造皮肤就像真的皮肤一样。故选A。
3.细节理解题。根据第五段第一句“Tee
said
his
idea
for
the

came
from
the
movie
Star

loses
his
hand
and
it
is
replaced
with

one.”(Tee说他对这个装置的想法来自电影《星球大战》,当时角色卢克·天行者失去了他的手,取而代之的是一个机器人。)可知,这个装置的想法来自电影《星球大战》中的场景。故选D。
4.推理判断题。根据最后一段第二句“But
Tee
said
there
had
already
been
a
lot
of
interest
in
the
system,especially
from
the
medical
community.”(但是Tee说,已经有很多人对该系统感兴趣,特别是来自医学界的。)可知,已经有很多人对该系统感兴趣,尤其是医学界。所以说人造皮肤这项技术是很有前途的。故选C。

In

easily?
These
questions
are
the

of
a
study
by

who
surveyed

it
is

South
Asians
endure
greater
racism
than
East
Asians
but
still
outperform
even
whites
(if
success

Their
research
also
rules
out
lack
of
ambition:
a
greater
share
of
Asians
than
whites
endeavor
for
high-status
jobs.
That
leaves
culture.
The
researchers
conclude
that
South
Asians
tend
to
be
more
determined
and
confident
than
East
Asians
in
how
they

which
fits

It
was
probably
her
giggling(咯咯笑)
that
drew
my
attention.
English
reading
really
wasn’t
that
funny
as
far
as
I
knew.
It
was
early
May
and
I
was
facing
a
class
of
sixteen
kids.
Though
I
had
almost
three
years
of
teaching,
this
particular
sixth
grade
class
had
pushed
me
to
the
limits
of
my
patience
far
too
many
times,
and
I
couldn’t
wait
to
wave
goodbye
to
them
for
the
summer.
I
had
kept
away
from
the
ideal
of
my
first
year
of
teaching.
That
first
year
I’d
covered
up
the
small
hole
in
the
window
with
an
inspirational
poster.
I’d
decorated
the
walls
with
pictures
of
famous
universities.
I
told
the
kids
daily
that
they
always
had
something
worth
struggling
for.
Together
we
would
work
hard
and
make
something
of
their
lives.
The
problem,
of
course,
was
that
my
ideals
kept
being
defeated
by
reality.
Not
just
the
reality
of
troubled
families.
I
was
also
faced
with
the
basic
reality
of
the
twelve-
and
thirteen-year-old
mind.
The
universal
mind,
“You
can’t
make
me!”
And
now
I
was
faced
with
a
giggle
when
I
should
have
had
only
full
attention.
Walking
over
to
the
young
peacebreaker,
I
asked
for
the
note
she
had
in
her
hands.
Frozen,
she
refused
to
give
it
to
me.
I
waited,
all
attention
in
the
room
on
the
quiet
battle
between
teacher
and
student.
When
she
finally
handed
it
over,
saying,
“Okay,
but
I
didn’t
draw
it,”
which
showed
this
wasn’t
just
an
ordinary
note
being
passed.
After
getting
the
class
going
on
an
English
reading
test,
I
finally
had
a
chance
to
look
through
it.
It
was
a
hand-drawn
picture
of
me,
eyes
monitoring
widely,
teeth
blackened,
and
the
words
“I’m
stupid”
coming
out
of
my
mouth.
There
was
no
doubt
about
who
it
was
supposed
to
be.
I
managed
to
fold
up
the
picture
calmly.
My
mind,
however,
was
working
angrily
and
wanting
to
criticize
some
students
on
the
scene.
I
figured
I
knew
the
two
most
likely
candidates
for
drawing
the
picture.
Maybe
it
was
high
time
that
I
did
it!

【答案】Thankfully,
calmness
returned
to
my
mind.
Suppressing
my
pride,
I
showed
them
the
picture.
The
whole
class
was
silent
as
I
told
them
how
hurtful
this
was
for
a
teacher.
Struggling
to
control
my
emotion,
I
demanded
there
must
be
a
reason
behind
for
such
a
picture
and
that
now
was
their
chance
to
tell
me
anything
they
needed
to
tell
me.
Asking
them
to
get
out
of
paper
and
write
silently,
I
sniffled
in
the
back
of
the
classroom.
Looking
over
the
notes
later,
I
realized
I
was
too
strict
with
them.
Where
I
thought
I
was
driving
them
to
success,
I
was
actually
driving
them
away.
After
class,
the
girl
walked
up,
handing
me
a
card
embarrassedly.
One
side
of
the
card
was
sincere
regret
for
the
ugly
joke
while
the
other
side
the
appeal
for
forgiveness.
I
was
deeply
moved.
Meanwhile,
a
great
sense
of
guilt
arose
for
being
too
harsh.
After
all,
students
appreciate
being
appreciated,
for
teachers’
encouragement
is
their
best
motivating
force.
【解析】
【分析】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者作为老师,教育理想一次次被现实打败,一次英语阅读课上,一位学生发出咯咯的笑声,作者在她手里看到一幅自己被丑化的画像,作者努力平息自己的愤怒来应对的故事。
【详解】1.段落续写:
①由第一段首句内容“谢天谢地,我的头脑恢复了平静。”可知,第一段可描写作者向全班展示这张画像,并让学生写出想对老师说的话。
②由第二段首句内容“仔细看了那些笔记后,我意识到我对他们太严格了。”可知,第二段可描写作者的反思及画那幅画像的学生向作者承认错误。
2.续写线索:展示画像——感到受伤——让学生拿出纸写想说的话——意识到自己太严厉——女孩尴尬地递过卡片——深受感动——内疚
