Someone
online
sold
my
mailing
address,
so
now
instead
of
just
getting
letters
from
the
few
charities
I
can
afford
to
support,I
am
also
getting
letters
from
a
dozen
other
charities
asking
for
my
help.
One
of
my
more
cynical(愤世嫉俗的)
friends
talked
a
lot
about
the
old
saying,
“No
good
deed(行为)
ever
goes
unpunished.”
I
just
smiled
and
didn’t
argue
knowing
it
wouldn’t
change
his
mind.
My
own
mind,
however,
was
remembering
another
moment
from
many
years
ago.
It
was
a
windy,
snowy
day.
I
was
a
young
dad
who
had
saved
just
enough
cash
to
buy
my
children
a
few
presents
for
New
Year.
As
I
walked
to
the
store
I
saw
a
man
ringing
a
bell
standing
beside
a
kettle.
Next
to
him
was
his
daughter,
a
little
girl
no
more
than
three
feet
tall.
They
got
together
against
the
biting
cold.
I
took
a
one-dollar
bill
out
of
my
wallet
and
dropped
it
into
the
kettle.
As
the
man
was
thanking
me,
though,
I
felt
pressure
on
my
legs.
I
looked
down
and
saw
that
the
little
girl
was
giving
me
her
own
thank-you
hug.
I
smiled
down
at
her,
bent
down
and
hugged
her
back.
Then
I
went
inside
feeling
the
warmth
that
no
winter
wind
could
ever
take
away.
Thinking
back
to
that
moment
in
time
reminded
me
that
no
good
deed
ever
goes
unrewarded.
We
may
not
always
get
a
heartfelt
hug
but
in
time
every
act
of
giving,
every
act
of
kindness,
and
every
act
of
love
that
we
make
flows
from
heart
to
heart,
around
the
world
and
back
to
us
again.
No
good
deed
is
ever
wasted.
Don’t
let
this
sometimes
cynical
world
get
you
down
then.
Share
your
love
today!
Give
from
your
heart.
Fill
your
life
with
acts
of
kindness.

From
the
earliest
times,
marriage
has
been
an
important
part
of
man's
legal
and
religious
systems.
In
addition
to
the
laws
governing
marriage
that
each
nation
establishes,
marriage
customs
have
grown
up
that
vary
widely
from
country
to
country.
Anthropologists
(人类学家)have
studied
and
written
about
the
numerous
marriage
ceremonies
and
customs
that
exist
throughout
the
world
and
they
make
interesting
reading,
especially
when
they
differ
greatly
from
our
own.
Let
us
look
at
just
one
country

the
United
States

to
see
some
of
the
customs
and
the
reasons
for
their
existence.
Why,
for
example,
do
people
throw
rice
at
weddings?
Why
does
the
bride
always
wear
“something
old,
something
new,
something
borrowed
and
something
blue?”
People
in
the
U.S.,
once
they
meet
certain
legal
age
and
medical
requirements,
are
free
to
choose
their
own
mates.
Once
a
couple
has
decided
to
get
married,
the
man
customarily
gives
the
girl
a
diamond
ring.
The
use
of
a
ring
comes
from
the
ancient
custom
of
using
a
ring
to
seal
an
important
agreement.
When
the
wedding
day
is
decided
upon,
the
girl
sends
wedding
announcements
or
invitations.
Friends
then
send
wedding
gifts
to
the
girl's
home.
On
the
wedding
day
it
is
supposed
to
be
bad
luck
for
the
bride
and
groom
to
see
each
other
before
the
wedding.
Another
old
superstition
that
many
people
believe
will
bring
good
luck
to
the
marriage
is
for
the
bride
to
wear
“something
old,
something
new,
something
borrowed
and
something
blue.”
28.When
a
couple
decided
to
get
married,
the
man
usually
gives
the
girl
.
A.
a
necklace
B.
a
car
C.
a
ring
D.
a
house
29.
It
is
supposed
to
be
bad
luck
.
A.
for
the
groom
to
see
the
bride
before
the
wedding
B.
for
the
couple
to
accept
gifts
C.
for
the
girls
to
send
wedding
invitations
D.
for
the
girls
to
receive
a
ring
30.
It
is
considered
to
be
lucky
for
the
bride
to
do
the
following
except
.
A.
to
wear
something
other
lent
her
B.
to
wear
something
not
old
C.
to
wear
something
not
new
D.
to
wear
something
dusky
31.
The

Environmental
experts
warn
that
our
planet
is
drowning
in
plastic.
The
world’s
cities
produce
2
billion
tons
of
trash
every
year.
By
the
year
2050
that
number
is
expected
to
rise
to
3
billion
tons.
The
World
Bank
estimates
that
the
largest
amount
of
trash
today,
about
44
percent,
is
plastic.
But
we
often
have
to
buy
packaged
goods.
And
often
that
packaging
is
made
of
plastic.
Now,
that
may
be
changing.
A
new
environmentally-friendly
shopping
model
was
recently
launched
at
the
World
Economic
Forum
in
Davos,
Switzerland.
This
shopping
model,
called
Loop,
aims
to
replace
throwaway
containers
with
reusable
ones.
Loop
is
the
idea
of
Terra
Cycle,
an
American-based
recycling
company.
Its
chief,
Tom
Szaky,
told
the
Associated
Press
(AP)
that
“removing
plastics
from
the
ocean
is
not
enough.”
He
said
the
point
is
to
get
away
from
single-use
packages.
Szaky
said
that
Loop
is
the
future
of
shopping.
But
it
comes
from
an
idea
of
the
past.
He
compared
it
to
the
“milkman
model”
of
the
1950s
in
the
United
States.
Back
then,
someone
brought
milk
to
your
doorstep
in
glass
bottles
and
then
left
with
empty
bottles.
These
could
be
cleaned
and
used
again.
The
result
is
zero-waste.
Jennifer
Morgan
from
the
environmental
non-profit
organization
Greenpeace
also
joined
in
the
discussion
about
Loop
at
Davos.
She
said
that
“Greenpeace
welcomes
the
aim
of
the
Loop
Alliance
to
move
away
from
throwaway
culture
and
disposability
(一次性、用完即可丢弃).

But
Morgan
questioned
whether
companies
worldwide
are
ready
to
change
their
business
models.
Loop
is
set
to
launch
later
this
year
in
three
eastern
U.S.
states,
and
also
in
Paris,
France
and
some
of
the
surrounding
area.
Then
Loop
plans
to
expand
to
the
U.S.
West
Coast,
Toronto,
Canada
and
Britain
by
2020.

Have
you
ever
wondered
about
changing
your

Actually,
it

almost

some
of
the

tips
for
you
to
have
a
healthier,
more

37
Getting
enough
sleep
will
help
you
feel
more
relaxed
and
confident
to
face
the
difficulties
in
the
day.
To
help
you
get
a
good
sleep,
do
not
get
excited
right
before
bedtime.
Turn
off
your
TV
or
smartphone.
Keep
your
room
dark
and
quiet.
All
these
measures
will
help
you
get
the
best
sleep.
Do
more
exercise.
Physical
activity
is
an
important
part
of
a
healthier
lifestyle.
However,
if
you
do
not
enjoy
the
type
of
exercise
you
choose,
it
will
work
against
your
goal
of
living
a
healthier

38
Enjoyable
physical
activity
will
not
only
help
you
keep
your
body
strong,
but
will
also
affect
your
feeling
positively
all

39
One

They
will
help
you
to
keep
your

you
improve
the
exercise
effects.
Start

Keeping
a
journal
is
a
great
way
to
change
your
life
for
better.
It
really
helps
even
if
you
just
keep
a
food
journal.
Or
you
can
put
down
your
true
feelings,map
out
your
goals
and
track
the
results.
40
A.
Pay
attention
to
your
diet.
B.
Visit
health
care
professionals
regularly.
C.
So
find
a
daily
exercise
that
you
truly
enjoy.
D.
You
can
also
sleep
as
much
as
you
like
at
weekends.
E.
It's
usually
recommended
to
get
7
to
9
hours
of
sleep
each
night.
F.
What
you
need
to
do
is
to
make
some
small
changes
in
your
daily
life.
G.
Your
diary
will
help
you
to
meet
those
goals
and
increase
the
sense
of
happiness.

purse.
It
was
44
!
I
used
Jack’s
phone
to
call
my
number.
Then
a

whom
I’ll
call
Rhys,
45
it.
“I
found

he
started

which
didn’t
56
.

called
many
names,
starting
with
the
letter
A.
Finally
he
got
Adam,
one
of
my
friends,
who
57
my
house.
I
was
58
to
get
my
phone
back
with
all
the
contacts,
messages
and
photos
I
could
have
lost
forever.
I
was
so
59
to
Rhys
and
offered
him
some
money,
but
he
60
.
As
we
drove
back,
we
praised
Rhys
for
his
honesty.

I
never
thought
that
a
little
help
would
turn
out
to
be
the
most
satisfying
thing
in
my
life.
I
once
met
a
young
man
61
seemed
tired
and
in
pain
on
my
way
home.
With
a
smile,
he
asked
62
I
could
lend
him
some
money.
He
was
paralyzed
(瘫痪的)
in
both
legs
and
was
raising
money
for
an
63
(operate).
Actually,
I
was
full
of
doubts
as
every
day
many
people
play
such
tricks
(诡计)
64
(get)
money.
I
even
asked
him
to
show
me
his
legs.
Then
I
gave
him
some
money
and
65
(leave).
After
a
few
days,
he
again
arrived
at
my
doorstep
asking
for
more
money.
This
time
I
was
66
(entire)
convinced
he
was
cheating
me.
I
still
gave
him
some
money
and
said
it
was
all
I
had.
Years
later,
one
day
I
got
67
call
from
an
unknown
number.
The
man
told
me
his
name
but
I
didn't
recognize
him.
He
said,
“It
is
because
of
your
help
68
I'm
now
able
to
stand
on
my
legs
and
have
a
good
job.”
What
he
said
next
made
me
69
(surprise).
He
said
he
wanted
to
return
my
money
so
I
wouldn't
feel

would

help
people
in

in
the

第二节
书面表达
Dear
Jack,
How’s
everything?
Last
time
you
told
me
that
you
are
interested
in
Chinese
calligraphy
and
wanted
to
have
a
Chinese
calligraphy
teacher.
Now,
good
news
for
you.
I
have
found
an
excellent
one
for
you
in
our
school.
Mr
Li
is
a
kind
and
warm-hearted
young
man.
He
is
easy
to
get
along
with.
Most
importantly,
he
can
teach
you
how
to
write
beautiful
Chinese
characters
in
both
Chinese
and
English.
He
has
promised
to
teach
you
after
work
because
he
hopes
to
make
an
effort
to
spread
the
traditional
culture.
So
please
tell
me
when
you
can
begin
your
learning.
I’m
looking
forward
to
your
reply.
Best
wishes.
Yours,
Li
