1.. The content in this unit learn different customs, courtesy, time concepts and dietetic culture in different countries, and what people are supposed to do in different situations. It can help the students understand that different countries and places have different customs. It may help the students make fewer mistakes when they go to visit a new place. By learning this unit , students may know more about customs and culture in other countries. And this will help them learn English better. Therefore this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material. 2. This is the first period of Unit 12.So if the Ss can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the Ss learn the rest of this unit. 3. Such a topic is related to daily life, so it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English.
(一) Status and function(教材地位)
The students have learned English for about three years so far. They can understand many words and sentences. The students have taken a great interest in English now.
(二)Analysis of the students (学情分析)
1. Knowledge objects (知识目标) (1) To make the students know how to use the structure. “be supposed to…”
(2) Train students’ listening ability. (3) To make the students know different customs in different countries
(4) Tell them how to act politely and properly in foreign countries.
Teaching aims and demands(教学目标)
2. Ability objects (能力目标) (1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. (2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in pairs. (3) To develop the Ss’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.
(4) To develop their ability of think independently
3. Moral objects (情感态度目标)
(1) To enable the Ss to be polite and love life.
(2) To enable the Ss to know more about customs and culture in other countries. This will help them learn English better.
(四)Teaching key and difficult points (教学重难点)
1. Key points: (1).The structure and usage of “be supposed to …”
(2).How to train students’ communicative competence.
(3).The descriptions of customs.
