B
There
is
a
mobility
system
or
wheelchair
which
can
be
seen
at
Tokyo
Airport
moving
on
its
own.
The
mobility
system
seats
one
person
and
is
able
to
find
its
way
on
its
own
without
hitting
anything.
It
has
a
pre-programmed
path
of
about
600
meters
at
Tokyo’s
Haneda
International
Airport.
The
ride
lasts
several
minutes.
It
travels
from
the
security
area
to
the
boarding
gate
at
a
speed
of
3.5
kilometers
per
hour.
But
many
people
hope
this
type
of
technology
can
help
in
other
places,
such
as
hospitals
or
parks.
The
technology
uses
sensors
and
cameras
to
see
a
clear
path
and
avoid
hitting
those
walking
toward
it.
The
person
on
the
machine
can
start
or
stop
it
through
a
simple
controller.
It
runs
on
batteries
and
is
programmed
to
return
to
where
it
starts
from
when
its
passenger
gets
off.
It
was
demonstrated
on
Monday
by
WHILL,
the
company
behind
the
technology.
WHILL
Chief
Executive
Satoshi
Sugie
said
robotics
and
self-driving
technology
reduce
the
need
for
a
human
at
the
wheel.
They
are
especially
useful
in
these
difficult
times
when
we
are
living
with
the
corona-virus.”
We
are
developing
our
business
in
order
to
help
restore
a
world
where
people
can
enjoy
moving
around
with
peace
of
mind,”
Sugie
said.
The
system
is
helping
with
social
distance
while
fighting
the
spread
of
the
corona-virus.
It
also
helps
older
passengers
and
those
who
need
help
walking
the
last
few
steps
to
the
boarding
gate.
What’
s
more
it
could
help
Japan
free
up
labor.
Japan,
like
many
other
nations,
suffers
from
a
labor
shortage.
The
technology
could
free
a
worker
to
do
another
job.
Tests
have
been
carried
out
at
several
airports
since
last
year,
including
John
F.
Kennedy
International
Airport
in
New
York.
The
company
hopes
to
put
it
in
airports
around
the
world.
24.

is
special
about
the
mobility
system?
A.
It
needs
no
help
at
the
airport.
B.
It
works
by
solar
energy.
C.
It
is
programmed
ahead
of
time.
D.
It
adjusts
the
speed
to
the
path.
25.

does
Satoshi
Sugie
think
of
the
wheelchair?
A.
It
is
useless
to
some
people.

to
be
widely
used.
C.
It
needs
to
be
further
tested.

Gene
therapy
(基因治疗)
is
a
revolutionary
new
technique
for
treating
people
with
health
problems.
Up
until
very
recently,
the
most
commonly
available
methods
for
treating
patients
were
either
through
drugs
or
operations.
Gene
therapy
provides
a
third
option
for
treatment
by
transforming
or
replacing
cells
with
new
genetic
materials
and
instructions.
Scientists
can
be
very
precise
in
the
kinds
of
changes
they
make
in
patients.
Gene
therapy
works
by
using
a
delivery
system,
such
as
a
virus,
to
enter
a
patient's
body.
Once
inside
the
body,
the
virus
combines
with
a
host
cell
and
delivers
the
new
DNA.
The
proteins
then
begin
to
repair
the
affected
cells.
New
techniques
have
focused
on
removing
cells
from
the
patients
and
transforming
them
outside
the
body
before
reintroducing
them
to
the
patients.
The
two
types
of
gene
therapy
are
called
somatic
and
germline.
Somatic
therapy
refers
to
changing
or
replacing
a
body
cell.
In
this
case,
the
treatment
is
restricted
to
the
patient
only.
This
will
not
affect
the
patient's
future
children
because
the
patient's
germ
(生殖)
cells
are
unaffected.
In
germline
therapy,
the
patient
germ
cells
are
treated,
which
may
affect
the
patient's
future
generation.This
is
highly
controversial
(有争议的)
because
it
is
not
clear
exactly
how
this
might
affect
them
and
further
generations.
For
this
reason,
many
countries
have
passed
laws
that
prohibit
this
kind
of
treatment.
Despite
the
promise
of
gene
therapy,
there
are
still
many
barriers
that
need
to
be
overcome
before
it
comes
into
widespread
use.
One
of
the
issues
is
that
the
use
of
viruses
to
deliver
DNA
may
actually
cause
unexpected
problems
in
patients
if
the
virus
grows
and
attacks
the
body.
Another
problem
is
the
nature
of
many
diseases
is
very
complex
and
spread
throughout
multiple
genes.
The
use
of
gene
therapy
to
change
a
single
gene
in
the
body
would
probably
not
be
sufficient
as
a
cure.
Finally,
the
costs
of
gene
therapy
are
high.
Some
gene
therapy
procedures
may
cost
over$1
million
to
undertake
and
require
specialized
doctors
and
equipment.
28.
What
does
the
underlined
word
''them''
in
paragraph
2
refer
to?
A.
Techniques.
B.
Cells.
C.
Patients.
D.
Proteins.
29.
What
can
we
learn
about
gene
therapy?
A.
Gene
therapy
has
been
put
into
practice
widely.
B.
The
cells
of
patients
are
developed
in
healthy
people.
C.
Viruses
entering
the
body
can
mix
with
host
cells
and
form
new
DNA.
D.
Both
somatic
and
germline
therapy
have
side
effects
on
later
generations.
30.
What's
the
last
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.
The
disadvantages
of
gene
therapy.
B.
The
promising
future
of
gene
therapy.
C.
The
high
costs
of
treatment
procedures.
D.
The
issues
related
to
viruses
and
complex
genes.

joint
research
team
recently
have
developed
a
new
electronic
skin
that
is
similar
to
human
skin
in
strength,
durability(耐久性)
and
sensitivity.
The
skin
or
e-skin
may
play
an
important
role
in
next-generation
personalized
medicine,
soft
robotics
and
artificial
intelligence.
“The
ideal
e-skin
will
mimic(模仿)
the
many
natural
functions
of
human
skin,
such
as
sensing
temperature
and
touch,
accurately
and
in
real
time,”
says
leading
researcher
Yichen
Cai.
However,
making
suitably
flexible
electronics
that
can
perform
such
delicate
tasks
while
also
used
repeatedly
is
challenging,
and
each
material
involved
must
be
carefully
engineered.
Most
e-skins
are
made
by
putting
an
active
sensor
on
the
surface
that
attaches
to
human
skin.
However,
the
connection
between
them
is
often
too
weak,
which
reduces
the
durability
and
sensitivity
of
the
material;
otherwise,
if
it
is
too
strong,
it
won’t
be
flexible
enough,
making
it
more
likely
to
break
the
circuit.
“The
landscape
of
skin
electronics
keeps
shifting
at
a
remarkable
pace,”
says
Cai.
“The
discovery
of
2D
sensors
has
accelerated
efforts
to
turn
these
quite
thin
but
strong
materials
into
functional,
durable
artificial
skins.”
The
new
man-made
skin
built
by
the
researchers
could
sense
objects
from
20
centimeters
away.
It
could
further
make
a
quick
response
when
touched
in
less
than
one
tenth
of
a
second.

It
is
a
striking
achievement
for
an
e-skin
to
maintain
toughness
after
repeated
use,”
said
Shen,
“which
mimics
the
softness
and
rapid
recovery
of
human
skin.”
This
type
of
e-skin
could
monitor
a
range
of
biological
information,
such
as
changes
in
blood
pressure,
which
can
be
detected
from
movements
of
arms
and
legs.
This
data
can
then
be
shared
and
stored
on
the
cloud
via
Wi-Fi.
“One
remaining
problem
to
the
widespread
use
of
e-skins
lies
in
mass
production
of
high-resolution
sensors,”
adds
group
leader
Vincent
Tung

however,
the
latest
technology
offers
new
promise.

there
is
to
it!
Don't
believe
us?
Just
ask
Harvard-educated
medical
doctor
Andrew
Weil,
who
adopted
this
exercise
from
a
centuries-long
Indian
yogi
meditation
practice.
The
yogis
use
this
method
to
achieve
a
state
of
complete
relaxation,
reducing
stress
and
anxiety.
Slowing
down
your
breathing
forces
the
rhythm
of
your
heart
to
slow
down,
too.
___38___
In
other
words,
it’s
a
natural
way
to
make
you
calm
for
your
body
and
mind.
“The
theory
is
that
by
putting
certain
rhythms
on
the
breath
with
your
voluntary
system,
gradually
these
are
made
into
the
involuntary
nervous
system,"
he
said.
___39___So
it's
the
regularity
of
doing
this
over
a
period
of
weeks,
months
,
years
that
produces
the
changes
that
you
want.”
There
you
go!
___40___
If
you're
still
tossing
and
turning,
don't
miss
these
tips
from
sleep
doctors
which
are
almost
guaranteed
to
give
you
a
better
night's
sleep.
A.
And
that
comes
with
time.
B.
Finally
,
repeat
until
you
fall
asleep.
C.
It
makes
the
rest
of
your
body
relax.
D.
That
enables
you
to
fall
asleep
more
easily.
E.
Here
comes
the
explanation
for
your
sleepless
nights.
F.
Once
you
start
sticking
to
it,
you
can
quit
counting
sheep
for
good.
G.
There's
now
an
easy
and
expert-approved
way
to
fall
asleep
in
less
than
a
minute.

There
is
a
mobility
system
or
wheelchair
which
can
be
seen
at
Tokyo
Airport
moving
on
its
own.
The
mobility
system
seats
one
person
and
is
able
to
find
its
way
on
its
own
without
hitting
anything.
It
has
a
pre-programmed
path
of
about
600
meters
at
Tokyo’s
Haneda
International
Airport.
The
ride
lasts
several
minutes.
It
travels
from
the
security
area
to
the
boarding
gate
at
a
speed
of
3.5
kilometers
per
hour.
But
many
people
hope
this
type
of
technology
can
help
in
other
places,
such
as
hospitals
or
parks.
The
technology
uses
sensors
and
cameras
to
see
a
clear
path
and
avoid
hitting
those
walking
toward
it.
The
person
on
the
machine
can
start
or
stop
it
through
a
simple
controller.
It
runs
on
batteries
and
is
programmed
to
return
to
where
it
starts
from
when
its
passenger
gets
off.
It
was
demonstrated
on
Monday
by
WHILL,
the
company
behind

C
Gene
therapy
(基因治疗)
is
a
revolutionary
new
technique
for
treating
people
with
health
problems.
Up
until
very
recently,
the
most
commonly
available
methods
for
treating
patients
were
either
through
drugs
or
operations.
Gene
therapy
provides
a
third
option
for
treatment
by
transforming
or
replacing
cells
with
new
genetic
materials
and
instructions.
Scientists
can
be
very
precise
in
the
kinds
of
changes
they
make
in
patients.
Gene
therapy
works
by
using
a
delivery
system,
such
as
a
virus,
to
enter
a
patient's
body.
Once
inside
the
body,
the
virus
combines
with
a
host
cell
and
delivers
the
new
DNA.
The
proteins
then
begin
to
repair
the
affected
cells.
New
techniques
have
focused
on
removing
cells
from
the
patients
and
transforming
them
outside
the
body
before
reintroducing
them
to
the
patients.
The
two
types
of
gene
therapy
are
called
somatic
and
germline.
Somatic
therapy
refers
to
changing
or
replacing
a
body
cell.
In
this
case,
the
treatment
is
restricted
to
the
patient
only.
This
will
not
affect
the
patient's
future
children
because
the
patient's
germ
(生殖)
cells
are
unaffected.
In
germline
therapy,
the
patient
germ
cells
are
treated,
which
may
affect
the
patient's
future
generation.This
is
highly
controversial
(有争议的)
because
it
is
not
clear
exactly
how
this
might
affect
them
and
further
generations.
For
this
reason,
many
countries
have
passed
laws
that
prohibit
this
kind
of
treatment.
Despite
the
promise
of
gene
therapy,
there
are
still
many
barriers
that
need
to
be
overcome
before
it
comes
into
widespread
use.
One
of
the
issues
is
that
the
use
of
viruses
to
deliver
DNA
may
actually
cause
unexpected
problems
in
patients
if
the
virus
grows
and
attacks
the
body.
Another
problem
is
the
nature
of
many
diseases
is
very
complex
and
spread
throughout
multiple
genes.
The
use
of
gene
therapy
to
change
a
single
gene
in
the
body
would
probably
not
be
sufficient
as
a
cure.
Finally,
the
costs
of
gene
therapy
are
high.
Some
gene
therapy
procedures
may
cost
over$1
million
to
undertake
and
require
specialized
doctors
and
equipment.

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。本文作者提出了一个可以简单改善睡眠的方法。
【36题详解】
根据划线前句“And
no
more
lying
,
wide-eyed
,
in
the
dark
after
waking
up
in
the
middle
of
the
night.(再也不用躺着,睁大眼睛,在半夜醒来后的黑暗中)”可知,对于晚上睡不好觉的问题,作者认为已经找到了解决方案了。G项“现在有一种简单且经专家认可的方法可以让你在一分钟内入睡。”正是为前句暗指的解决方案。同时G项中的“an
easy
and
expert-approved
way
to
fall
asleep”指代的后文中提及的“This
all-natural
solution
is
called
the
4-7-8
method.(这种纯天然的解决方法被称为4-7-8法)”。故选G项。
【37题详解】
根据划线前句提及“Then,
simply
breathe
in
air
through
your
nose
for
four
seconds,
hold
your
breath
for
seven
seconds,
and
then
breathe
the
air
out
slowly
through
your
mouth
for
eight
more
seconds.(然后,简单地用鼻子吸气4秒,屏住呼吸7秒,然后再用嘴慢慢地呼气8秒)”可知,此处在阐述前文提及的4-7-8助眠法。根据前文已提及“First,…..”和“Then,…..”可知,此处应表示最后一步应该如何做。因此B项“最后,重复直到你睡着。”切题。故选B项。
【38题详解】
根据划线前句提及“Slowing
down
your
breathing
forces
the
rhythm
of
your
heart
to
slow
down,
too.(放慢你的呼吸也会迫使你的心跳节奏放慢)”可知,放慢呼吸能让你的心跳节奏也放慢。通过这种方式可以让你全身放松。C项“它使你身体的其他部分放松。”中的It指代前文提及的“放慢呼吸和心跳节奏放慢”,同时C项又是前句的结果。故选C项。
【39题详解】
根据划线后文“So
it's
the
regularity
of
doing
this
over
a
period
of
weeks,
months,
years
that
produces
the
changes
that
you
want.(因此,在数周,数月,数年的时间内进行此操作的规律性会产生你想要的更改)”可知,进行此助眠法需要时间的练习。因此A项“这是随着时间的推移而来的。”是对后句的内容进行总结,和后句内容构成前后因果关系。故选A项。
【40题详解】
根据划线前句“There
you
go!(这下你会懂的)”可知,作者建议读者可以试试这种方法来改善自己的睡眠。F项“一旦您开始坚持下去,就可以永远不再数羊了。”再次强调坚持这种助眠法的好处。前后句进一步推荐睡眠有问题的人可以尝试这种助眠法来改善睡眠。故选F项。

answered
Pipo
with
his
usual
smile."It's
much
more
fun
making
an
effort
to
get
things.Today
I've
washed
a

supported
a

old

to
the

but
I've
done
many
interesting

【答案】Paragraph
1:Without
saying
anything,
Joe
just
walked
away
sadly.
With
a
deep
guilty
in
his
mind,
Joe
was
pondering
upon
the
reason
why
his
selfless
generosity
was
not
accepted
by
Pipo.
All
of
a
sudden,
it
seemed
that
Pipo’s
words
were
saying
upon
his
ears“It's
much
more
fun
making
an
effort
to
get
things.”It
was
the
words
that
inspired
Joe
to
make
up
his
mind.
He
must
spare
no
effort
and
make
a
difference,so
that
he
could
earn
his
own
living
differently
by
himself.
Paragraph
2:Joe
tried
to
get
the
cake
in
some
other
way.
Cry
as
he
might,
he
reflected
his
promise.
Without
hesitation,
he
walked
up
to
the
storekeeper
and
asked
whether
he
could
exchange
his
labor
for
a
piece
of
cake.
Thinking
he
would
be
denied,
he
lowered
his
head.
Instead,
quite
to
his
surprise,
the
storekeeper
agreed.
Delighted
but
anxious,
he
admitted
he
had
no
any
experience
before.The
owner
told
him
the
task
he
would
take
up
didn’t
require
high
demands,
and
he
was
asked
to
merely
clean
the
kitchen
as
it
was
full
of
mess
for
making
cakes.
Joe
worked
hard
throughout
the
afternoon
and
made
it.
Afterwards,
the
owner
carried
out
his
commitment.
【解析】
【分析】文章以人物为线索展开。叙述了两个小男孩为了自己想要的东西两个人采取了不同的方式去获得。Joe利用自己会哭的才能,如果想的东西得不到,他就采取哭的方式,最终会如愿以偿,而Pipo虽然家境贫寒,可是Joe帮他筹集到的钱他还是不要,他想通过自己的努力去争取,而不想用别人同情心而得到自己想要的。
【详解】1.段落续写:
①由第一段首句内容“什么也没说,
Joe
只是伤心地走开了。”可知,第一段可描写Joe开始思索自己的帮忙为什么会被拒绝,随后决定改变自己的方式。
②由第二段首句内容“Joe想用别的方法拿蛋糕。”可知,第二段可描写Joe打算用他的劳动来从蛋糕店店主那里换取蛋糕。经过一整个下午的劳动,店主履行了承诺给了Joe蛋糕。
2.续写线索:
走开——思索——决心改变——想到方法得到蛋糕——询问——劳动——得到蛋糕

Hi,

What

last
Saturday?
M:
I
camped

the

Beijing
by
joining
a

W:
Oh,
really?
It
is
so
called
“Flash

M:
Yeah.
I
had
doubt
about
it

But
now,
I
think
it
is
a
good

W:
Absolutely.
Some

But
I

Haha,
you

out.
Now
it

economic

Everyone

they
can
make

Wow.
Why
did
you

W:
I

it

my

M:
Darling.
Please
stop

so
anxious.
Didn’t

It

You

W:
Nowhere.
I’m

my

What
are
you
going

for

M:
I’m
not

yet.
But
I’m
thinking
of
going

with
my

W:
That’ll
be
nice.
How
long
are
you
going
to
stay
there?
M:
Couple
of
days,
I
guess.
Say,
would
you
like
to
come
along
with
us?
We
can
go
swimming
in
the

W:
Thanks,
but
maybe
next
time.
My
mother
really
needs
some
help
in
the

Besides,
I
don’t
want
to
miss
my

So
have
fun,
and
I’ll

Enjoy

I

W:
Well,
why
don’t

I
don’t

Sally
would

the

She
always

M:
You’re
right.
What
about
Billy?
He
loves
boats,
so
it’s
either
the
Thames
or
the
zoo.
W:
Definitely
the
Thames
for
Billy.
What
about
an
opera
at
Covent
Gardens
for
your
parents?
M:
That
would
be
great.
So
you
don’t
want
to
go
shopping
in
Oxford
Street
then?
W:
Which
page
is
that
on?
Wow!
This
looks
fantastic.
There
are
so
many
great
shops
in
Oxford

Will
you

M:
I’ll

you

M:
Boys
and
girls,
our
school
is
an
international
language
college.
As
you
see,
there
are
a
lot
of
buildings
on
campus.
The
college
used
to
have
four
departments—English,
French,
German
and
Russian.
But
there
is
now
also
a
Chinese
department.
At
the
moment
we’re
outside
your
department,
the
English
department,
which
is
the
largest
department
in
the
college.
There
are
over
750
students
in
each
grade
and
we
have
350
teachers,
including
150
professors.
These
teachers
are
from
different
countries,
mainly
from
the
USA
and
Canada,
with
a
few
from
England
and
Australia.
You’ll
have
all
your
classes
here
in
this
building
and
all
the
professors
from
Canada
are
working
here,
so
you
can
talk
with
them
in
your
spare
time.
Now,
let’s
walk
over
to
the
main
library,
which
is
the
largest
building
in
the
college,
just
next
to
the
English
department
building.
Ah,
this
is
the
main
library.
OK,
let’s
come
to
the
next
building—the
dining
hall,
where
you
will
have
your
meals
every
day.
