Francis
Bacon
once
said,
“Histories
make
men
wise;
poets,
witty;
the
mathematics,
subtle;
natural
philosophy,
deep;
morality,
grave;logic
and
rhetoric,
able
to
contend.”
Reading
different
books
can
serve
different
purposes.
That’s
why
I
like
reading
so
much.
One
of
my
favorite
books
is
The
Fault
in
Our
Stars.
It
is
a
novel
by
American
writer
John
Green,
which
came
out
in
2012.
The
title
is
encouraged
by
a
line
from
Shakespeare’s
play
Julius
Caesar,
which
goes,
“The
fault
is
not
in
our
stars,
but
in
ourselves...”
The
story
is
told
by
Hazel
Grace
Lancaster,
a
16-year-old
girl
with
cancer.
Hazel
is
forced
by
her
parents
to
attend
a
cancer
support
group,
where
she
meets
and
falls
in
love
with
Augustus
Waters,
who
is
one
year
older
than
her.
The
two
of
them
keep
in
touch
over
their
love
of
books,
especially
the
book
An
Imperial
Affliction.
They
even
get
a
chance
to
meet
the
book’s
writer.
Some
readers
might
consider
the
book
to
be
rather
sad.
But
I
have
a
different
opinion.
It
is
described
as
“insightful”
and
“bold”
on
Amazon
because
it
shows
how
the
main
characters
feel
about
life
and
death.
The
writer
describes
the
two
teenagers’
struggle
to
live
normal
lives,
despite
having
a
deadly
illness.
It
is
heartbreaking,
but
it’s
also
a
good
lesson
about
courage
and
love.
The
writer’s
sense
of
humor
saves
the
book
from
being
too
depressing
as
well.
I
read
the
book
for
its
humor,
strong
characters,
language
and
opinion
on
death
and
romance.
This
book
not
only
taught
me
about
how
to
face
death,
but
also
taught
me
how
to
live
a
full
and
meaningful
life.

2.
What
is
the
writer’s
purpose
of
giving
what
Francis
Bacon
said
in
Paragraph
1?
A.
To
explain
how
much
he
reads.
B.
To
show
the
reason
why
he
likes
reading.
C.

tell
us
he
has
lots
of
knowledge.
D.

with
Francis
Bacon’s
opinion.
3.

thinks
the
book
The
Fault
in
Our
Stars
is
______
.
A.
rather
sad
B.

C.

boring
D.
touching
4.
What
does
the
last
paragraph
mainly
talk
about?
A.
The
lesson
the
book
teaches
the
writer.
B
The
differences
between
the
book
and
other
books.
C.The
advantages
and
disadvantages
of
the
book.
D.
The
opinion
on
death
and
romance
in
the
book.

Ma
Yun,
born
in
Hangzhou,
Zhejiang,
in
1964
is
one
of
the
most
influential
entrepreneurs
in
China.
He
founded
the
tech
company
Alibaba,
which
has
changed
the
way
Chinese
people
shop.
In
1995,
when
Ma
Yun
first
saw
his
American
friend’s
computer,
he
was
scared.
“Jack,
it’s
not
a
bomb.
Just
touch
whatever
you
want,”
his
friend
said
to
him.
Years
later,
Ma’s
tech
company
Alibaba
is
the
king
of
China’s
e-commerce
(电子商务)
industry.
Ma
has
come
along
way
from
his
rots
in
Hangzhou.
As
an
English
teacher
at
a
local
college,
he
went
to
the
United
States
in
1995
and
got
his
first
taste
of
the
Internet.
Upon
his
return,
Ma
set
up
China
Pages,
the
country’s
first
commercial
website.
In
1999,
Ma
and
his
friends
set
up
Alibaba.
Today,
Alibaba’s
online
sales
and
income
are
higher
than
all
US
retailers.
The
55-year-old
businessman
has
become
a
symbol
of
China’s
entry
into
the
digital
age;Time
magazine
noted.
He
and
Alibaba,
the
world’s
largest
retailer
and
e-commerce
company,
have
changed
the
way
Chinese
people
shop.
In
China,
Ma’s
digital
marketplace
Taobao
has
become
a
verb,
meaning
to
shop
online.
Thousands
of
small
businesses
have
come
to
life
with
Alibaba’s
help.
The
company
has
greatly
pushed
consumption
in
China,
such
as
by
making
Singles’
Day
(Nov.
11)
the
biggest
online
shopping
day
in
the
world.
The
company
has
also
made
breakthroughs
in
other
areas,
such
as
cashless
payment
technology.
Alipay
is
one
of
the
most
popular
mobile
payment
platforms
in
China.
When
he
began
his
career
as
an
English
teacher,
few
believed
Ma
could
succeed.
So
Ma
often
encourages
young
people
to
follow
their
dreams.
He
once
said,
”Everybody
should
have
a
dream.
What
if
that
dream
comes
true?”

C
Do
you
like
fried
chicken?
If
you’ve
ever
ordered
a
piece
of
fried
chicken
at
a
restaurant,
you
might
have
been
asked
whether
you
prefer
white
meat
or
dark
meat.
This
can
be
a
bit
difficult
for
many
people
to
understand.
Isn’t
all
chicken
meat
white?
If
you
compare
different
pieces
of
fried
chicken,
you’ll
notice
that
there
is
a
little
difference
in
color
between
some
pieces.
Some
chicken
meat
is
white,
while
some
is
darker.
This
is
because
different
cuts
of
chicken
meat
come
from
different
types
of
muscle.
Dark
meat
cuts,
such
as
drumsticks,
come
from
usually-used
muscles
needed
for
walking
and
standing.
These
muscles
use
more
oxygen
and
have
more
iron
in
them.
The
iron
in
the
muscles
is
in
the
myoglobin.
The
myoglobin
gives
dark
meat
its
darker
color
On
the
other
hand,
white
meat
cuts,
such
as
the
breasts
and
wings,
come
from
muscles
that
are
used
less
usually.
These
muscles
don’t
need
lots
of
oxygen
and
have
less
iron
in
them.
Since
there’s
less
iron
and
myoglobin
in
these
muscles,
white
meat
is
lighter
in
color.
Here
is
some
knowledge
you
have
to
know.
·Chicken
is
a
tasty
treat.
It
can
be
made
into
chicken
cuts,
fingers
or
strips.
You
can
put
them
in
honey
mustard
sauce
(蜂蜜芥末酱)
or
barbecue
sauce.
·There
are
differences
between
white
meat
and
dark
meat
in
nutritional
value.
Dark
meat
is
kind
of
higher
in
calories
because
it
includes
more
fat.
·When
you
are
on
a
diet,
you
can
choose
boneless,
skinless
chicken
breasts.
They
are
low
in
calories
and
fat.
·The
extra
fat
in
dark
meat
gives
it
a
stronger
taste
and
makes
it
juicier.
You
can
add
taste
to
white
meat
by
marinating
it
before
coking.

masks

protect
themselves.
It’s
a
very
simple
but
useful
method
to
protect
oneself
from
the
harmful
things.
In
fact,
masks
have
been
helping
us
for
centuries.
Let's
take
a
look
at
some
mask-related
history.
1st
century
At
that
time,
many
people
in
Roman
Empire
worked
underground
in
mines
to
support
their
families.
But
most
of
them
suffered
from
and
even
died
of
serious
illnesses.
To
solve
this
problem,
Pliny
the
Elder
(23-79
AD),
recommended
the
use
of
animal
skins.
And
it
helped
stop
the
dust
from
being
breathed.
16th
century
Many
centuries
later,
the
artist
and
inventor
Leonardo
da
Vinci
(1452-1519)
in
Italy,
suggested
using
a
wet
cloth
over
the
face
to
protect
against
the
harmful
things.
19th
century
The
design
of
the
mask
took
a
big
step
forward
in
the
19th
century,
In
1848,
American
Lewis
Hassley
became
the
first
person
to
patent(注册专利)a
protective
mask
for
miners.Later,
in
1897,Polish-Austrian
doctor
Johann
von
Mikulicz-Radecki
designed
a
simple
mask
,which
was
the
first
to
use
in
hospital.
20th
century
In
1910,
a
Chinese
doctor
Wu
Liande
designed
a
cheap
face
mask
called
"Wu's
mask".
People
around
the
world
all
liked
this
mask,
as
it
was
simple
to
make
and
had
a
low
cost.
Modern
exploration
With
several
outbreaks
of
the
diseases
and
the
flu,
and
the
rise
of
pollution
caused
by
industrial
waste,
the
materials
in
masks
are
better
than
before
to
protect
its
wearer.
In
the
future,
masks
will
continue
to
improve,
hopefully
so
will
the
habits
of
humans.
