Some people succeed, while others may not. This is because some people own certain qualities, which others don't have. If you want to be successful, you should have the following qualities at least.
The first thing you must remember is that in order to succeed, you must be optimistic(乐观的). If you do not expect to win, you will not try as hard as those who do expect to win. You also need to have a clear purpose and a reason for doing something. If you do not have a purpose, you will not do your best to work hard and make sure that every detail you have done is right.
Reading is another thing to success, as it will help you learn about how other people have achieved success. If you want to learn how to set up a successful business, you should read books about like Bill Gates and Jerry Yang, who have achieved amazing success in their areas of business.
71. Some people who succeed own ________, which others ________.
72. To ________ is the first thing you must remember in order to succeed. People who expect to win will try ________ than those who don't.

答案:values
例3:
原文:Be active and have a positive attitude (积极的态度) towards life. Develop confidence in yourself.
题目:Have an and positive attitude towards life and develop confidence in yourself.

Get you ready to understand new information your teacher will provide.
题目: to understand new information.
解析:对比原文与题目,可知此需要找到一个词,意思相当于get ready(准备好…), 可以想到是prepare,同时prepare满足,prepare to do sth
答案:Prepare
例2:
原文:It is said that you won’t want to visit any other mountain after seeing wu yue(五岳) but you won’t wish to see even wu yue after you come back from it.
题目:It is said that you won’t to visit any other mountain after seeing wu yue but you won’t wish to see even wu yue after from it.
In classroom, your teachers will talk about topics that you are studying. The information they provide will be important for you to know when you take tests. So you must be able to take good written notes from what your teachers say.
题目:The information that is by the teachers about studying topics is useful for your tests, so it is necessary for you to learn take good notes.

The best time to give her that is while she is sleeping at night. Put it on the drawer next to her so that when she wakes up she'll be surprised to see it.
题目:Put it on a drawer next to her to give her a ________.
解析:对比原文,找到不同点即so that when she wakes up she’ll be surprised to see it.表示目的的形式已经转换为to do的结构,主要是将后面的句子变换,可以想到surprise的词组:give sb. a surprise= surprise sb.= sb. be surpried
答案:surprise
例3:
原文:As long as you have studied well, you will be more confident of your chance to succeed in a test.

① so…that → too…to → enough to…
这部分题要注意疑问词的运用以及时态的综合运用,平时要注意所学疑问词的具体意思,如: what( 什么 ) , how( 怎样 ) , where( 哪里 ) , how long( 多久 ) , how often( 多久一次 ) 等等。

Clothing(服装) is a language. We can look at the traditional clothing to know more about culure.
Africa has a long history and a rich culture, and this is shown in traditional dress. The three colours—red, gold and green, are often used in the clothing. The first colour represents the blood of millions of people who fought for freedom; the second, rich resources of the African earth; and the third, the grassland of home.
Because clothing has strong social meanings, people are very careful in choosing what to wear. It would be a serious mistake to wear the wrong clothes, or to dress in the wrong way. For example, in Ghana, a woman should wear her waistband (腰带) differently according to the importance of the social event.
Traditional dress also tells us about everyday life. African designs are famous for loose (宽松的) clothing. The temperature there can be very high during the daytime but very low at night, so it requires that the clothes are comfortable for daily life.
Today although more and more young people like wearing Western clothes, especially in big cities in Africa, traditional African dress is still quite valuable. This is because it has deep cultural meanings.

But tea does not grow in Britain. Most tea grows in India and China. So, how did it become an important part of British culture?

People have been using the wind energy for a long, long time. More than 5,000 years ago, ancient Egyptians made boats powered by the wind. In 200 B.C., people used windmills (风车) in China.
Today, we collect the wind's energy with wind turbines (涡轮). A turbine is similar to a windmill;it is a very tall tower with two or three blades (叶片) at the top. These blades are turned by the wind. The blades turn a generator (发电机) located inside the tower, which creates power.
Groups of wind turbines are known as wind farms. Wind farms can be found near farmland,in narrow mountain passes, and even in the ocean, where there are stronger winds.Wind farms create power for nearby homes, schools and other buildings.
In places like the Midwest and along coasts, winds can provide cheap power. Another great advantage of wind power is that it is a clean form of energy. Wind turbines do not burn oil or coal and do not pollute the air.
Wind is not always an ideal source of energy, however. Wind speed changes from time to time, depending on the time of day, weather and location. Wind turbines can be also dangerous for bats and birds. These animals cannot always tell how fast the blades are moving and crash into them.
