Step I Lead-in new lesson
Greet the students and get them to talk about their last weekend
T: I haven’t seen you for two days, boys and girls! How is it going?
S: Quite well. How are you? T: I抦 fine, too. Thanks. Did you have a nice weekend ? S: Yes. T: Would you like to share your experience with me? What did you do? S: I read a lot. I 厖 T: You must have learnt a lot.
Get some other students to talk about their weekend. And then show some places of interest and continue talking with the students to make them understand the phrase go on a trip to.
T: I had a nice weekend too. I went on a trip to Xi, an. I took some pictures in Xi, an, do you want to enjoy them?
Show the students the following pictures and discuss them. (幻灯片展示)
T: There are so many beautiful places in Xi, an. And Xi, an is the capital city of our province. Would you like to travel to Xi, an? (To one student) S: Yes.
T: Would you like to go on a trip to Xi’an?too?
Help the student to answer. Make sure the students know the meaning of go on a trip to Xian
.S: Yes. I抎 like to go on a trip to Xian
Step II Learn some new words (check preview)
1 .Ask some students to read the new words
2 .Do some exercises about the vocabularies.
Step III Listening
T: Today Jenny and Danny arrive in Xi抋n. Let抯 go traveling with them. Listen to the tape recorder carefully and discuss the pictures, then try to answer some questions.
What places of interest do they visit?
After the students listening to the tape, check the answers together.
T: OK, can you answer my questions? What places of interest do they visit? And how do they feel? Discuss the pictures. Do some listening exercises.
Step IV Reading
Get the students to read the dialogue and then answer some questions. Explain some language points to them.
T: Well, read the text and tell me the following questions:
How long and how old is the wall in Xi ,an?
Where are the Terra Cotta Warriors?
3. What does Danny want to do? Can he do it?
4 What does Jenny want to do? Can she do it?
5. How does Danny feel? Why?
Give the students enough time to discuss the questions with their partners. Then check the answers together.
Then ask the students to read the text again and finish Let抯 Do It! No .3
Choose the correct words and fill in the blanks.
Step IV Reading and speaking
Ask students to role-play the dialogue.
Oral speaking: Ask some students to retell the text, the teacher can help them.
Group work: ask the students to discuss Xi ,an in groups and then try to introduce Xi ,an to others.
Step V Homework
Finish exercise III and IV in the exercise book.
Ask the students to read and write the words in this lesson.
3. Write a short passage about Xi ,an according to this lesson.
