教材分析:
该部分通过Mrs.Green和Susanna母女间关于中国的一次对话引入本部分的学习,在相关话题的阅读输入的基础上,学习描述国内风景名胜和历史文化的词汇。在语境中呈现定语从句结构,让学生认识到通过该结构的使用能够更深入清晰地描述自己熟悉的国内风景名胜。在此基础上,培养学生借助图片等信息阅读相关文章的技能,以及根据相关图片话题进行书面表达的能力。此外,结合话题内容增强学生的文化意识和爱国精神,为学习后面的有关中西文化内容的话题作准备。
学情分析:
作为初三的学生已经具备一定的阅读技巧和策略,大部份能够使用图片预测阅读内容与结构,能够借助已有的文化背景知识完成阅读任务。但是初步接触定语从句,尤其是中差生掌握它的功能和应用仍有困难。另外,大部分学生对了解中国风景名胜的历史文化背景有较浓的兴趣。
Teaching objectives:
I. Instructional aims
Students should be able to master the pronunciation, meaning and usage of new words and phrases.(brick, treasure, civilization, separate, enemy, expect, treasure, entire, branch, construction, state, remain,
stretch from to, bring into, be famous for)
Students should have some progress in the ability of reading skill by asking them to guess the meaning of new words.
Train students to analyze the text structure and summarize the logical relationship.
Students should have a better understanding of attributive clauses.
Students should be able to write a passage to introduce a famous Chinese tourist attraction.
II .Educational aims
1. At the end of the lesson, my students should have a better understanding of the background of the Great Wall.
2. Students should have a deep love of our country by learning more tourist attraction .
3. Students can be able to have a sense of competition.
4. Widen students vision by getting information about western tourist attractions.
Teaching key points:

Teaching procedure:
Stage 1: Introduction
Step I: Play music about the Great Wall and watch some Chinese tourist attractions before class.
Objective: Stimulate students interest.
Step II: Greetings
The teacher greets students and asks them Where will you go if you have a chance to travel?
Objective: Lead to the topic.
Stage 2: Pre- reading
Work in pairs : Talk about the pictures about the Great Wall with given expressions.
Step I: Discuss the picture with partner.
Step II: Report the discussion.
Step III: Learn new vocabularies and phrases while talking.
Step IV: The teacher check answers.
Objective: Activate the students knowledge about the Great Wall of history, geography. Learn the new vocabulary to remove barriers while reading.
Stage 3: While- reading
Step I: Fast reading: read 1a quickly to finish 1b. (2 minutes)
Objective: Train students ability of reading skill by asking them to guess the meaning of new words.
Step II: Careful reading: Read 1a again and complete the diagram.(1c)
Objective: Train students to analyze the text structure and summarize the logical relationship.
Step III: Watch the video of 1a.
Objective: Have a better understanding of 1a .
Step IV: Fill in the blanks according to 1a.
Objective: Check students understanding of 1a. Learn and consolidate new vocabulary.
Step V: Analyze the structure of attributive clauses.
Objective: Have a better understanding of attributive clauses.
Stage 4: Post- reading
Step I: Introduce a famous Chinese tourist attraction which you like best.
Objective: Train students writing skill. Have a deep love of our country.
Step II: How to understand the saying He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man.
Objective: Have a sense of competition.
Stage 5: Sum up
Stage 6: Homework: Search for some foreign tourist attractions from the Internet or related books.
Objective: Widen students vision to learn western tourist attractions.
