B
Several
years
ago,
Jim
Turner
heard
a
program
on
the
radio
for
the
N.C.Children's
Hospital
and
decided
he
could
use
his
love
of
origami?art
to
help
the
hospital
raise
money
for
much-needed
programs.
So
at
the
age
of
13,
Turner
began
making
origami
greeting
cards
and
selling
them
to
help
the
hospital.
His
program,
known
as
Heartbeats
for
Kids,
has
since
raised
more
than
$2,500
for
the
hospital.
“The
first
cards
I
made
had
a
heart
in
them
and
you
could
remove
the
heart
from
the
card
and
make
it
beat,”
Turner
says,
explaining
how
he
came
up
with
the
name
for
the
program.
Now
as
a
17-year-old
high
school
student,
Turner
has
less
time
to
devote
to
card-making,
because
origami
costs
a
lot
of
labor
and
each
card
can
take
up
to
30
minutes
to
design.
But
Turner
still
enjoys
origami
art
and
has
created
designs
that
have
been
chosen
for
exhibits
that
tour
the
country
and
world.
Turner
is
an
engineer
and
artist.
His
mother,
Peggy
Turner,
says
folding
origami
has
helped
her
son
develop
his
sense
of
space
for
3-D
objects.
Turner
also
provides
community
(社区、团体)
service
at
school
and
at
his
church.
He
was
named
the
Good
Spirit
of
Community
Awards
for
his
community
service
activities,
including
the
Heartbeats
for
Kids
program.
In
the
process
of
his
volunteer
efforts,
Turner
also
managed
to
be
one
of
the
only
381
youths
in
the
country
to
cam
the
top
score
of
2,400
on
his
SAT
test.
Making
and
selling
the
greeting
cards
has
taught
Turner
about
managing
a
small
business,
but
most
important
thing
Turner
learns
is
that
the
cards
benefit
not
only
the
hospital,
but
also
the
people
who
buy
the
cards
or
get
the
cards.
Turner
sees
it
as
a
way
to
bring
people
together.
26.?At
first
Turner's
purpose
of
making
and
selling
his
cards
was
to?____.
A.?collect
money
for
a
hospital
B.
bring
more
people
together
C.
learn
how
to
manage
a
business
D.
show
his
love
for
origami
art
27.?The
underlined
word
“origami”
in
the
first
paragraph
most
probably
means?____.
A.?the
art
of
paper
cutting
B.
the
art
of
picture
drawing
C.
the
art
of
paper
folding
D.
the
art
of
toy
making
28.?From
Paragraph
2,
we
can
learn
that
card-making?____.
A.
is
difficult
to
learn
B.
takes
time
and
energy
C.
is
popular
with
young
people
D.
makes
people
active
and
intelligent
29.?What
does
the
writer
tell
us
about
Turner?
A.?He
has
already
become
a
successful
businessman.
B.?He
spends
most
of
his
time
working
for
his
church
C.?He
designs
a
heart
in
each
card
that
has
been
made
D.?He
does
well
in
both
his
lessons
and
community
service
30.?The
passage
is
mainly
about?____.
A.
a
teenager
who
makes
a
difference
B.
origami
art
that
helps
make
money
C.
offering
community
service
D.

Flying
over
a
desert
area
in
an
airplane,
two
scientists
looked
down
with
trained
eyes
at
trees
and
bushes.
After
an
hour’s
flight
one
of
the
scientists
wrote
in
his
book,
“Look
here
for
probable
metal.”
Scientists
in
another
airplane,
flying
over
a
mountain
area,
sent
a
message
to
other
scientists
on
the
ground,
“Gold
possible.”
Walking
across
hilly
ground,
four
scientists
reported,
“This
ground
should
be
searched
for
metal.”
From
an
airplane
over
a
hilly
wasteland
a
scientist
sent
back
by
radio
one
word:
“Uranium.”
None
of
the
scientists
had
X-ray
eyes:
they
had
no
magic
power
of
looking
down
below
the
earth’s
surface.
They
were
merely
putting
to
use
one
of
the
newest
methods
of
locating
minerals
in
the
ground…trees
and
plants
as
signs
that
certain
minerals
may
lie
beneath
the
ground
on
which
the
trees
and
plants
are
growing.
This
newest
method
of
searching
for
minerals
is
based
on
the
fact
that
minerals
deep
in
the
earth
may
affect
the
kind
of
bushes
and
trees
that
grow
in
the
surface.
At
Watson
Bar
Greek,
a
brook(小溪)
six
thousand
feet
high
in
the
mountains
of
British
Columbia,
Canada,
a
mineral
search
group
gathered
bags
of
tree
seeds.
Boxes
were
filled
with
small
branches
from
the
trees.
Roots
were
dug
and
put
into
boxes.
Each
bag
and
box
was
carefully
marked.
In
a
scientific
laboratory
the
parts
of
the
forest
trees
were
burned
to
ashes
and
tested.
Each
small
part
was
examined
to
learn
whether
there
were
minerals
in
it.
Study
of
the
roots,
branches,
and
seeds
showed
no
silver.
But
there
were
small
amounts
of
gold
in
the
roots
and
a
little
less
gold
in
the
branches
and
seeds.
The
seeds
growing
nearest
to
the
tree
trunks
had
more
gold
than
those
growing
on
the
ends
of
the
branches.

第二节
(共5小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两选项为多余选项。
In
a
recent
survey
of
more
than
1,300
students,
96%
said
they
feel
worried
about
exams.
36
There
is
no
doubt
that
anyone
wants
to
get
high
marks
in
exams,
so
students
should
learn
to
deal
with
exams
as
calmly
and
effectively
as
possible.
Develop
a
plan.
37
However,
most
of
the
students
don’t
plan
how
they’ll
be
prepared.
They
just
tell
themselves
they’ll
study
as
much
as
possible
—
then
they’ll
“hope
for
the
best”.
This
isn’t
a
wise
way.
Preparing
for
an
exam
is
like
taking
on
an
important
project.
It’s
important
to
outline
a
plan
for
how
you’ll
get
ready
for
an
exam.
Change
the
sleep
time
early.
Many
exams
are
held
in
the
early
morning
—
a
time
when
students
don’t
usually
feel
very
awake.
If
you’ll
be
taking
a
morning
exam,
start
sleeping
earlier
at
least
one
week
before
the
exam
so
that
your
body
will
have
time
to
adjust(适应).
38
Besides,
it’s
also
a
good
idea
to
get
eight
hours
of
sleep
each
night.
39
It’s
common
for
students
to
spend
the
10
minutes
before
an
exam
doing
some
last-minute
studying.
This
may
provide
some
comfort,
but
overall
it
does
more
harm
than
good.
The
10
minutes
before
an
exam
will
make
no
difference.
If
you
study
during
this
time,
you’ll
become
more
stressed
and
worried.
40
A.
Study
until
the
last
minute.
B.
Don’t
do
any
last-minute
studying.
C.
This
high
percentage
isn’t
surprising.
D.
This
will
have
a
bad
influence
on
your
performance.
E.
This
will
help
you
become
more
confident
in
the
exams.
F.
If
not,
your
mind
won’t
be
in
a
good
state
to
take
the
exam.
G.
It
is
of
great
importance
for
students
to
make
a
proper
plan
before
an
exam.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My
sister
Emily
is
afraid
of
all
sorts
of
interesting
things
like
spiders,
frogs,and
snakes
—
especially
snakes.
One
day
last
summer,
I
found
a
garter
snake(束带蛇)at
my
uncle's
farm.
I
caught
him
so
I
could
get
a
good
close-up
look
at
him.
His
eyes
were
red,
so
I
named
him
Red
Eye.
My
uncle
told
me
I
could
take
him
home
and
keep
him
for
a
pet.
I
said,
“No.
Emily
hates
snakes.
She's
afraid
of
them.”
“Nonsense,”
said
my
uncle.
“Why
would
she
be
afraid
of
a
little
garter
snake?
It
won't
hurt
you,
if
you
handle
it
correctly.”
So
my
aunt
gave
me
an
empty
coffee
can,
and
I
made
little
holes
in
the
plastic
lid(盖子).
Then
I
took
him
home.
But
one
day
a
terrible
thing
happened.
I
went
into
the
family
room
to
say
hello
to
Red
Eye
after
school
as
usual,
but
he
didn't
rise
up
to
greet
me.
Right
away
I
noticed
that
the
top
of
his
glass
tank(玻璃缸)was
slightly
ajar(半开着).
Red
Eye
was
gone.
“Mother!”
I
screamed
at
the
top
of
my
voice.
“Somebody
left
the
lid
off
Red
Eye's
tank,
and
he's
gone.”
I
started
to
cry.
“Oh,
Cindy.
We'll
find
him;
he's
probably
in
this
room
somewhere.”
Mother
started
to
comfort
me.
At
that
moment
Emily
came
into
the
room.
“What's
the
matter?”
she
asked.
“You
know
what's
the
matter,”
I
yelled
at
her.
“You
finally
managed
to
get
rid
of
Red
Eye.
I
hope
you're
satisfied.”
“I
didn't
do
anything,”
Emily
said.
“I
just
got
home.”
“All
right,
girls,”
Mother
said.
“We'll
all
look
for
Red
Eye.”
“I'm
not
looking
for
any
snake,”
Emily
said
with
feeling.
“You
really
like
that
snake,
don't
you?
I
thought
you
were
keeping
him
just
because
you
know
I
think
snakes
are
scary(吓人的).”I
started
to
look
for
Red
Eye.
I
did
not
want
to
talk
to
Emily
again.

Dear
Mike,
I
had
a
five-day

to
London
last

I
would

your
hospitality
and
kindness
when
I

London.
Knowing

the
Dragon

I
would

The
Dragon
Boat
Festival,
one
of
the
most
traditional
festivals
in
China,
falls
on
the
May
5th
in
the

People
celebrate
this
festival
in
memory
of
Qu

who
was
a
Chinese

Besides,
people
in
China
will

He
