New
App
Helps
People
Remember
Faces
Large
gatherings
such
as
weddings
and
meetings
can
be
socially
flooded
with
people.
Learning
people’s
names
only
adds
to
the
stress.
A
new
facial-recognition
app
could
come
to
the
rescue,
but
experts
suggest
people
should
be
careful
while
using
it.
The
app,
called
SocialRecall,
connects
names
with
faces
through
smartphone
cameras
and
facial
recognition,
avoiding
the
need
for
formal
introductions.
“It
breaks
down
these
social
barriers
we
all
have
when
meeting
somebody,
”says
Barry
Sandrew,
who
created
the
app
and
tested
it
at
an
event
attended
by
about
1,
000
people.
After
receiving
an
invitation
to
download
SocialRecall
from
an
event
organizer,
the
user
is
asked
to
take
two
selfies
and
sign
in
through
social
media.
At
the
event,
the
app
is
active
within
a
previously
set
geographical
area.
When
a
user
points
his
or
her
phone
camera
at
an
attendee’s
face,
the
app
identifies
the
person,
displays
the
person’s
name,
and
links
to
his
or
her
social
media
information.
To
protect
privacy,
it
recognizes
only
those
who
have
agreed
to
use.
And
the
app’s
creators
say
it
automatically
removes
users’
data
after
an
event.
Ann
Cavoukian,
an
expert
who
runs
the
Privacy
by
Design
Center
of
Excellence
praises
the
app’s
creators
for
these
protective
measures.
She
added,
however,
that
when
people
choose
to
share
their
personal
information
with
the
app,
they
should
know
that
“there
may
be
unexpected
results
down
the
road
with
that
information
being
used
in
another
situation
that
might
come
back
to
bite
you”.
The
start-up
project
has
developed
the
app
for
people
who
suffer
from
prosopagnosia,
or
“face
blindness”,
a
condition
that
prevents
people
from
recognizing
people
they
have
met.
To
use
this
app,
a
person
first
receives
an
image
of
someone’s
face,
from
either
the
smartphone’s
camera
or
a
photograph,
and
then
tags
it
with
a
name.
When
the
camera
spots
or
recognizes
that
same
face
in
real
life,
the
previously
entered
information
is
displayed.
The
collected
data
are
stored
only
on
a
user’s
phone,
according
to
the
team
behind
the
app.

makes
the
app
popular
D.

people
can
do
with
the
app

Last
year
I
went
on
an
amazing
trip
by
boat
along
the
west
coast
of
Canada.
It
was
my
brother
Harry’s
idea.
He’s
a
25.
reporter(记者)who’s
also
a
great
fan
of
boats.
But
I’d
dreamed
of
visiting
the
area.
So
I
kept
asking
Harry
if
I
could
go,
too,
26.
until/till(直到)he
agreed
at
last!
A
few
weeks
before
we
left
home,
there
was
much
27.
rain(雨)in
the
area
we
were
going
to.
But
luckily
the
weather
was
OK
at
last.
However,
I
was
28.
busy(忙碌的)at
work
so
I
didn’t
think
about
what
needed
doing.
But
Harry
promised
he’d
take
care
of
everything,
so
I
knew
everything
would
be
all
right.
After
arriving
in
Canada,
we
packed
our
29.
tools(工具)into
small
boats
and
set
off.
Since
very
few
people
now
lived
along
that
coast,
the
only
other
living
animals
we
saw
for
the
first
few
days
were
dolphins
and
birds.
We
often
stopped
for
hours
to
explore
the
30.
rock(岩石)pools
on
the
beaches.
And
we
never
31.
forgot(忘记)lunch
or
dinner,
though,
which
we
all
made
together
over
camp
fires.
When
we
32.
finally(最后)fell
asleep
on
the
boats
each
evening,
even
though
the
beds
were
hard,
it
really
felt
like
stress-free
living!
When
the
time
came
to
leave,
I
was
sad.
How
could
I
return
to
33.
normal(正常的)life
again?
But
I
knew
if
I
stayed,
I
would
34.
miss(想念)my
family
and
friends.
I
was
also
looking
forward
to
telling
everyone
at
home
about
our
experiences.

(2020·菏泽改编)
What
is
5G?
It
is
the
fifth
generation
of
mobile
network
technology.
In
the
past,
1G
let
us
talk
with
each
other.
2G
let
us
send
messages,
3G
gave
us
the
Internet.
And
4G
made
all
of
these
things
faster.
What’s
special
about
5G?
5G+entertainment
5G
networks
are
about
10
times
faster
than
4G.
This
means
you
can
download
a
movie
in
seconds
using
5G.
Also,
VR
games
will
become
more
popular
with
5G.
5G
will
make
the
VR
games
even
more
real.
5G+smart
home
5G
also
makes
the
Internet
of
Things
(物联网)
possible.
Smart
home
is
part
of
it.
For
example,
your
bread
maker
could
make
breakfast
by
itself
after
your
alarm
rings.
And
if
the
air
in
your
room
is
too
dry,
a
smart
sprinkler
could
water
your
plants
by
itself
when
you
are
not
at
home.
So
you
just
need
to
buy
a
new
mobile
phone
to
use
5G.
But
a
5G
phone
costs
about
8,
000
yuan
right
now.
It
is
said
that
about
one
year
from
now,
the
price
could
go
down
to
around
2,
000
yuan.

New
App
Helps
People
Remember
Faces
Large
gatherings
such
as
weddings
and
meetings
can
be
socially
flooded
with
people.
Learning
people’s
names
only
adds
to
the
stress.
A
new
facial-recognition
app
could
come
to
the
rescue,
but
experts
suggest
people
should
be
careful
while
using
it.
The
app,
called
SocialRecall,
connects
names
with

through
smartphone

and
facial
recognition,
avoiding
the

(2020·台州)
Last
year
I
went
on
an
amazing
trip
by
boat
along
the
west
coast
of
Canada.
It
was
my
brother
Harry’s
idea.
He’s
a
25.
(记者)who’s
also
a
great
fan
of
boats.
But
I’d
dreamed
of
visiting
the
area.
So
I
kept
asking
Harry
if
I
could
go,
too,
26.
(直到)he
agreed
at
last!
A
few
weeks
before
we
left
home,
there
was
much
27.
(雨)in
the
area
we
were
going
to.
But
luckily
the
weather
was
OK
at
last.
However,
I
was
28.
(忙碌的)at
work
so
I
didn’t
think
about
what
needed
doing.
But
Harry
promised
he’d
take
care
of
everything,
so
I
knew
everything
would
be
all
right.
After
arriving
in
Canada,
we
packed
our

set
off.
Since
very
few
people
now
lived
along
that
coast,
the
only
other
living
animals
we
saw
for
the
first
few
days
were
dolphins
and
birds.
We
often
stopped
for
hours
to
explore
the

And
we

which
we

made
together
over
camp
fires.
When

on
the

each
evening,
even
though
the
beds
were
hard,
it
really
felt
like
stress-free
living!
When
the
time
came
to
leave,
I
was
sad.
How
could
I
return
to

again?
But
I
knew
if
I
stayed,
I

I
was

about
our

What
is
5G?
It
is
the
fifth
generation
of
mobile
network
technology.
In
the
past,
1G
let
us
talk
with
each
other.
2G
let
us
send
messages,
3G
gave
us
the
Internet.
And
4G
made
all
of
these
things
faster.
What’s
special
about
5G?
5G+entertainment
5G
networks
are
about
10
times
faster
than
4G.
This
means
you
can
download
a
movie
in
seconds
using
5G.
Also,
VR
games
will
become
more
popular
with
5G.
5G
will
make
the
VR
games
even
more
real.
5G+smart
home
5G
also
makes
the
Internet
of
Things
(物联网)
possible.
Smart
home
is
part
of
it.
For
example,
your
bread
maker
could
make
breakfast
by
itself
after
your
alarm
rings.
And
if
the
air
in
your
room
is
too
dry,
a
smart
sprinkler
could
water
your
plants
by
itself
when
you
are
not
at
home.
So
you
just
need
to
buy
a
new
mobile
phone
to
use
5G.
But
a
5G
phone
costs
about
8,
000
yuan
right
now.
It
is
said
that
about
one
year
from
now,
the
price
could
go
down
to
around
2,
000
yuan.
