【阅读理解】
A
A
new
study
shows
students
who
write
notes
by
hand
during
lectures
perform
better
on
exams
than
those
who
use
laptops
(笔记本电脑).
Students
are
increasingly
using
laptops
for
note-taking
because
of
speed
and
legibility
(清晰度).But
the
research
has
found
laptop
users
are
less
able
to
remember
and
apply
the
concepts
they
have
been
taught.
Researchers
performed
experiments
that
aimed
to
find
out
whether
using
a
laptop
increased
the
tendency
to
make
notes
“mindlessly”
by
taking
down
word
for
word
what
the
professors
said.
In
the
first
experiment,students
were
given
either
a
laptop
or
pen
and
paper.They
listened
to
the
same
lectures
and
were
told
to
use
their
usual
note-taking
skills.Thirty
minutes
after
the
talk,they
were
examined
on
their
ability
to
remember
facts
and
on
how
well
they
understood
concepts.
The
researchers
found
that
laptop
users
took
twice
as
many
notes
as
those
who
wrote
by
hand.However,the
typists
performed
worse
at
remembering
and
applying
the
concepts.Both
groups
scored
similarly
when
it
came
to
memorising
facts.
The
researchers’
report
said,“While
more
notes
are
beneficial,if
the
notes
are
taken
mindlessly,as
is
more
likely
the
case
on
a
laptop,the
benefit
disappears.”
In
another
experiment
aimed
at
testing
long-term
memory,students
took
notes
as
before
but
were
tested
a
week
after
the
lecture.This
time,the
students
who
wrote
notes
by
hand
performed
significantly
better
on
the
exam.
These
two
experiments
suggest
that
handwritten
notes
are
not
only
better
for
immediate
learning
and
understanding,but
they
also
lead
to
superior
revision
in
the
future.
1.More
and
more
students
favour
laptops
for
note-taking

they
can
   .?
A.write
more
notes

concepts
better
C.get
higher
scores
D.understand
lectures
better
2.While
taking
notes,laptop
users
tend
to
be
   .?
A.skillful
B.mindless
C.thoughtful
D.tireless
3.The
author
of
the
passage
aims
to
   .?
A.examine
the
importance
of
long-term
memory
B.stress
the
benefit
of
taking
notes
by
hand
C.explain
the
process
of
taking
notes
D.promote
the
use
of
laptops
4.The
passage
is
likely
to
appear
in
   .?
A.a
newspaper
advertisement
B.a
computer
textbook
C.a
science
magazine
D.a
finance
report
B
If
you
do
not
use
your
arms
or
your
legs
for
some
time,they
become
weak;when
you
start
using
them
again,they
slowly
become
strong
again.Everybody
knows
that.Yet
many
people
do
not
seem
to
know
that
memory
works
in
the
same
way.
When
someone
says
that
he
has
a
good
memory,he
really
means
that
he
keeps
his
memory
in
practice
by
using
it.When
someone
else
says
that
his
memory
is
poor,he
really
means
that
he
does
not
give
it
enough
chance
to
become
strong.If
a
friend
says
that
his
arms
and
legs
are
weak,we
know
that
it
is
his
own
fault
(过错).But
if
he
tells
us
that
he
has
a
poor
memory,many
of
us
think
that
his
parents
are
to
blame
(受责备),and
few
of
us
know
that
it
is
just
his
own
fault.
Have
you
ever
found
that
some
people
can’t
read
or
write
but
usually
they
have
better
memories?This
is
because
they
cannot
read
or
write
and
they
have
to
remember
things;they
cannot
write
down
in
a
little
notebook.They
have
to
remember
days,names,songs
and
stories;so
their
memory
is
the
whole
time
being
exercised.So
if
you
want
to
have
a
good
memory,learn
from
the
people:Practice
remembering.
5.The
main
reason
for
one’s
poor
memory
is
that
   .?
A.his
father
or
mother
may
have
a
poor
memory
B.he
does
not
use
his
arms
or
legs
for
some
time
C.his
memory
is
not
often
used
D.he
can’t
read
or
write
6.Which
of
the
following
is
NOT
true?
A.Your
memory
works
in
the
same
way
as
your
arms
and
legs.
B.Your
memory,like
your
arms
and
legs,becomes
weak
if
you
don’t
give
it
enough
chance
for
practice.
C.Don’t
learn
how
to
read
or
write
if
you
want
to
have
a
better
memory.
D.A
good
memory
comes
from
more
practice.
7.Some
people
can’t
read
or
write,but
they
usually
have
better
memories,because
   .?
A.they
have
saved
much
trouble
B.they
have
saved
much
time
to
remember
things
C.they
have
to
use
their
memories
all
the
time
D.they
can’t
write
everything
in
a
little
notebook
8.Which
is
the
best
title
for
this
passage?
A.Don’t

【语篇语法填空】
1.so 考查副词。so...that...为固定搭配,意为“如此……以至于……”。
2.to
get 考查非谓语动词。此处考查固定句型it
takes
some
time
to
do
sth。
3.of 考查介词。a
pack
of为固定短语,意为“一群”。
4.who 考查定语从句。先行词masters指人,并且引导词在从句中作主语。因此用关系代词who。
5.recommended 考查动词的时态。此句为and连接的并列句,前后时态一致,故用一般过去时。
6.competition 考查名词。所填的词由冠词an修饰,故用compete的名词形式。
7.traditional 考查形容词。空格后为名词stories,应用形容词来修饰。
8.hugely 考查副词。所填的词修饰形容词popular,故用副词形式。
9.were
invited 考查动词的时态和语态。句中时间状语为On
the
last
day
of
our
week-long
stay,又因为主语we与所给动词invite之间为动宾关系,故用一般过去时的被动形式。
10.listening 考查非谓语动词。分析句子成分可知,此处作伴随状语;另外,所填的词与下文的meeting为并列关系,故用动词-ing形式。
【阅读理解】
A:
答案A
解析根据文章第二段第一句的内容可知,学生越来越喜欢用笔记本电脑来记笔记,这是因为速度快且清晰。该句中的speed与答案A中的write
more
notes表意一致。故选A项。
答案B
解析根据第三段内容可知,研究人员做实验的目的是弄清楚用电脑记笔记是否更容易让学生不动脑思考。后文说明这种假设已经被证实了。由此可判断用电脑记笔记的人在操作过程中往往不动脑思考,故选mindless。
答案B
解析文章通过两次实验尤其是第二次实验证明了动手做笔记对长期记忆的益处,由此可知作者提倡用手而不是用笔记本电脑来记笔记。故作者写此文的目的是强调用手做笔记的益处。
答案C
解析本文通过实验来证明动手做笔记的益处,这属于科普类文章,故本文最有可能出现在科学类的杂志上。
B:
答案C
解析根据第二段中的“When
someone
else
says
that
his
memory
is
poor,he
really
means
that
he
does
not
give
it
enough
chance
to
become
strong.”可知记忆力不好是因为没有经常使用。
答案C
解析文中提到不识字的人也可以有很好的记忆力,但不表示想要有好的记忆力就不要学习读书和写字。
答案C
解析根据最后一段中的“so
their
memory
is
the
whole
time
being
exercised”可知选C项。
答案B
解析文章主要介绍了记忆力和人的四肢一样,越用越好用。故选B项。Unit

nineteenth
century.In
1846
Thomas
Henry
Huxley
was
appointed
assistant
doctor
aboard
H.M.S.Rattlesnake.The
ship
had
been
asked
to
survey
areas
of
the
Great
Barrier
Reef
and
the
neighbouring
seas.This
gave
Thomas
Henry
Huxley
an
opportunity
to
study
animal
life
and
was
the
start
of
his
biological
career.The
voyage
lasted
four
years,during
which
time
he
gathered
much
information
on
plankton
(浮游生物).
On
his
return
from
the
voyage,Thomas
Henry
Huxley
was
made
a
member
of
the
Royal
Society
in
recognition
of
his
scientific
work.Although
he
continued
to
publish
papers
about
plankton,his
interest
was
turning
towards
vertebrate
(有脊椎的)
animals.For
some
time
Thomas
Henry
Huxley
and
his
workmates
had
been
discussing
the
possibility
that
animal
species
had
evolved
(进化),one
from
another.No
satisfactory
theories
had
been
put
forward,but
in
1859
Darwin’s
Origin
of
Species
appeared.Thomas
Henry
Huxley
at
once
realised
its
importance
and
how
the
theory
of
natural
selection
provided
“the
working
hypothesis
(假说)
we
sought”.
For
the
rest
of
his
life
Thomas
Henry
Huxley
struggled
to
ensure
the
full
recognition
of
Darwin’s
work.In
1863
Thomas
Henry
Huxley
published
Man’s
Place
in
Nature
in
which
he
compared
man
and
great
apes
(猿).He
clearly
showed
similarities.
Despite
his
many
achievements,he
was
given
no
award
by
the
British
state
until
late
in
his
life.From
about
1870,Thomas
Henry
Huxley
was
too
involved
in
other
things
to
continue
actual
research.He
had
always
been
interested
in
education.He
pioneered
the
teaching
of
biology
and
his
method
of
selecting
“type
animals”
is
still
followed
today.He
spent
the
last
ten
years
of
his
life
writing
essays
mainly
on
biology.

How
to
Remember
What
You
Read
Reading
is
important.But
the
next
step
is
to
make
sure
that
you
remember
what
you’ve
read! 1
You
may
have
just
read
the
text,but
the
ideas,concepts
and
images
(形象)
may
fly
right
out
of
your
head.Here
are
a
few
tricks
for
remembering
what
you
read.?
● 2 ?
If
the
plot,characters,or
word
usage
is
confusing
for
you,you
probably
won’t
be
able
to
remember
what
you
read.It’s
a
bit
like
reading
a
foreign
language.If
you
don’t
understand
what
you’re
reading,how
would
you
remember
it?But
there
are
a
few
things
you
can
do...Use
a
dictionary;look
up
the
difficult
words.
●Are
you
connected?
Does
a
character
remind
you
of
a
friend?Does
the
setting
make
you
want
to
visit
the
place?Does
the
book
inspire
you,and
make
you
want
to
read
more?With
some
books,you
may
feel
a
connection
right
away. 3
How
willing
are
you
to
make
the
connections
happen??
●Read
it;hear
it;be
it!
Read
the
lines.Then,speak
them
out
loud.And,put
some
characters
into
the
words.When
he
was
writing
his
novels,Charles
Dickens
would
act
out
the
parts
of
the
characters.He’d
make
faces
in
the
mirror,and
change
his
voice
for
each
character. 4 ?
●How
often
do
you
read?
If
you
read
frequently,you’ll
likely
have
an
easier
time
with
remembering
what
you’re
reading
(and
what
you’ve
read). 5
As
you
make
reading
a
regular
part
of
your
life,you’ll
make
more
connections,stay
more
focused
and
understand
the
text
better.You’ll
learn
to
enjoy
literature—as
you
remember
what
you
read!?
A.Are
you
confused?
B.Practice
makes
perfect.
C.What’s
your
motivation?
D.Memory
is
sometimes
a
tricky
thing.
E.Marking
helps
you
remember
what
you
read.
F.But
other
books
require
a
bit
more
work
on
your
part.
G.You
can
do
the
same
thing
when
you
are
reading
the
text!

【概要写作】
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的概要。
Look
inside
any
family
home
in
the
evening,and
you
might
see
a
typical
enough
scene:Mum
and
Dad,each
on
their
own
laptops
or
tablets,streaming
movies,catching
up
on
work
or
maybe
answering
emails
on
their
smartphones.Meanwhile,one
child
is
chatting
online
with
one
school
friend
while
texting
another.The
other
is
playing
a
video
game
with
a
friend
on
the
other
side
of
the
city
at
the
same
time.Each
member
of
the
family
is
totally
absorbed
in
his
or
her
own
piece
of
technology.
According
to
some
experts,the
effect
of
technology
on
human
relationships
is
worrying
as
technology
becomes
a
substitute
for
face-to-face
human
relationships.It
appears
to
be
the
case
that
many
people
would
rather
spend
time
with
their
electronic
gadgets(电子产品)
than
with
one
another.Young
people
say
it
is
difficult
to
get
their
parents’
attention
and
they
have
to
compete
with
smartphones,tablets
and
other
technology.
However,a
report
from
the
Pew
Internet
and
American
Life
Project
offers
a
more
helpful
and
encouraging
view,suggesting
that
far
from
replacing
human
contact,technology
can
actually
better
family
relationships.Just
over
half
of
the
2,253
people
surveyed
agreed
that
technology
had
enabled
them
to
increase
their
contact
with
distant
family
members
and
47
percent
said
it
had
improved
the
communication
with
the
people
they
lived
with.Moreover,even
the
closest
members
of
families
need
time
away
from
each
other
at
some
point
to
seek
their
own
interests.Family
members
who
might
otherwise
have
sat
in
separate
rooms
can
now
be
in
the
same
one
while
still
occupying
a
different
mental
space.
Look
back
at
our
typical
family
scene
above.Is
it
any
different
from
four
people
reading
their
own
books?Or
is
it
driving
families
apart?Where
technology
will
lead
us
remains
to
be
seen.Yet
there
is
no
need
to
worry.As
a
matter
of
fact,how
it
affects
our
family
relationships
depends
on
our
attitude
toward
technology.

【阅读理解】
答案C
解析根据第一段中的“In
1846
Thomas
Henry
Huxley
was
appointed
assistant
doctor
aboard
H.M.S.Rattlesnake.”可知,Huxley去航海是因为他在船上当医生,故选C项。
答案B
解析根据第二段中的“Thomas
Henry
Huxley
at
once
realised
its
importance
and
how
the
theory
of
natural
selection
provided
‘the
working
hypothesis
we
sought’.”可知,Huxley对自然选择理论评价很高,故选B项。
答案D
解析根据第三段中的“In
1863
Thomas
Henry
Huxley
published
Man’s
Place
in
Nature
in
which
he
compared
man
and
great
apes.He
clearly
showed
similarities.”可知,Thomas
Henry
Huxley的书《人类在自然界中的位置》为人类从类人猿进化而来提供了证据,故选D项。
答案A
解析根据最后一段中的“He
had
always
been
interested
in
education.He
pioneered
the
teaching
of
biology
and
his
method
of
selecting
‘type
animals’
is
still
followed
today.He
spent
the
last
ten
years
of
his
life
writing
essays
mainly
on
biology.”可推断,Huxley对生物教学做出了很大贡献,故选A项。
【七选五】
1.D 空后表示“你或许刚刚读完文章,但大意、概念和形象可能从你的大脑中丢失”。刚刚读完文章,就会忘记,因此记忆有时就是件很“麻烦的(tricky)”事。
2.A 空格处单独一行,且与下面的标题句并列,由此推断,该句应为概括性语句,再结合下文的“confusing”和“don’t
understand
what
you’re
reading”可知,本段是对产生的“困惑”给出小诀窍,故A项“你困惑吗?”为最佳选项。
3.F 根据空格前面内容可知,读书需要联想,对于有些书,你或许马上能建立联想。前面有some
books,后面可能有other之类的与之对应的词,而F项“But
other
books
require
a
bit
more
work
on
your
part.”满足这个条件。
4.G 空格位于段末,根据文章的写作思路推测,此处应是段落总结性的句子,再分析空格前的内容可知,本段给出的方法是全身心投入到所读内容中去,所以G项“你读书时也可以这样做!”符合语境。
5.B 空格前一句“如果经常阅读,你可能会更容易记住你正在读的内容(和读过的内容)”,空格后一句“当阅读成为你日常生活的一部分,你就会建立更多的联系,更加专注,同时更好地理解文章”,通过frequently,regular等词汇推知,要多阅读,才能记住文章。此处B项“熟能生巧”符合语境。
