Teaching Design
Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge and capability:
(1)To learn some words about week and the sentences: How many days are there in a week? They’re Sunday, Monday, Tuesday….
?(2)To master the “first” and “last” day of the week;
?(3)Be able to speak and talk in our daily life.
2. Emotional aims:
To arrive the interests of the students in English learning, to help the students build confidence in English learning, and to enable the students to take part in the activities, to help the students to cooperate with others and to taste the happiness in English learning.
Teaching importance &difficulties:
1.Important points:Words about the week and some sentences;
2.Difficult points:Master and use these words and sentences in daily life.
学情分析:
本课的教学对象是小学四年级的学生,他们的英语基础还相对薄弱。这个年龄的学生的思维很活跃,对英语充满好奇,他们乐于参加简单有趣的英语教学活动,喜欢在这些活动中体验快乐和成就感。所以本课应设计贴合学生实际的活动,增加学生表达和自主学习的机会,充分发挥学生资源,让学生在课堂上和课后都能用英语表达自己所学的知识,养成用英语思维的习惯。
Teaching procedures:
I. Lead-in
1. Greeting: T: Class begins!
S: Good morning, Miss Wang!
T: Good morning, boys and girls! Sit down, please.
2. Q1: T: Give me a quick answer! S: OK!
T: What day is today? S: It’s Tuesday.
T: How’s the weather today? S: It’s cloudy….
T: Today is Tuesday and today is cloudy.
3. Listen to a song “Days of the week”
Ask the students to stand up and sing together.
(Purpose: To review the days in a week and to put ways for the new lesson.)
II.Presentation
1. New words: day--Friday day--Saturday
(Listen to the sound of the words and write them down on the blackboard.)
2. Seven days in a week (Show by the cards): Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
3. (PPT shows the picture of the week)
Q2: T: How many days are there in a week?
S: Seven.-There are seven.-There are seven days in a week.
Q3: T: What are they?
S: They are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Q4: T: What’s the first (last) day of the week?
S:It’s Sunday (Saturday).
4. Listen to the text (First time listen to the text and guess what is talking, and second time listen and read after it.)
(Purpose: In this part, the main task is to learn two new words: Friday and Saturday, and at the same time, to learn the sentences about asking how many days are there in a week and the name of the days.)
III. Practice
1. Game time: S1: How many days are there in a week? What are they?
S2: Sunday……and Saturday.
(Ask the students to ask and answer about the days in the week.)
2. Role play: Eight students is one group. Play the role in the text.
(Watch the video and learn the text)
3. Timetable: Q5: T: When do you have…lessons?
S: We have…lessons on…and….
(Watch the big screen/PPT, and answer the questions)
(Purpose: To master the sentences and expressions by doing more practices)
4. Writing (paper):
Hi, everyone! Look at my timetable. There are____ days in a week. They are _______, ________, ________, ________, ________, _________and ___________. I go to school from ________ to___________. I have no lessons on ___________ and__________.
(Purpose: English learning emphasis not only listening, speaking, and reading, but also writing, so writing is no doubt important for students in Grade Four)
IV.Assessment & Homework
Assessment :In the whole class, the teacher should arrive the students interest in speaking English and say “Excellent”, “Great” as much as possible.
(Purpose: To arouse the interests of the students in learning English and to praise them properly)
V. Homework:
1. Master the seven “days” or the name of the days; ※
2. Ask and answer among groups or any students in our class;※※
3. Create another text (just like the text on the paper) and tell it to your parents or your friends.※※※
(Purpose: To further master and consolidate what have learnt)
VI.Blackboard design
