Step 1 Warm-up/Revision
(Teacher: Hello, boys and girls. Let’s sing a song.)
Get the students to sing a song “Days of the week” in Lesson 22.
Play the video. Get the students to watch, listen and sing.
(Teacher: It’s a beautiful song, isn’t it?)
Step 2 Presentation
1. Teach the new word “week”.
Get the students to look at the picture of the new word “week”.
(Teacher: Look at the picture. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, that makes a week. This is a week.)
Write the word on the blackboard. Get the students to spell and say.
(Teacher: W-E-E-K, week.)
2. Teach the new word “today”.
Get the students to look at the picture of the new word “today”.
(Teacher: What day is today? Today is Wednesday.)
Write the word on the blackboard. Get the students to spell and say.
(Teacher: T-O-D-A-Y, today.)
3. Teach the new word “weekend”.
Get the students to look at the picture of the new word “weekend”. (Teacher: Sunday is the first day of the week. Saturday is the last day of the week. Sunday and Saturday, that makes a weekend.)
Get the students to say “weekend”.
Get the students to look at the picture of the new phrase “on weekends”
(Teacher: We can say in a week. But we can’t say in a weekend. We should say “on weekend”. If we usually do something on some weekends, we should say “on weekends”.)
Get the students to say “on weekends”.
Get the students to look at the picture of frequency adverbs, to help them to understand “usually”.
(Teacher: Look at the picture. This is a picture of frequency adverbs. “Usually” means in most cases; under normal conditions. If the times you do something more than normally or generally, but less than always, we should say “I usually do something”.)
Get the students to say “usually”. Write “What do you usually do on weekends?” on the blackboard. Get the students to listen and say.
4. Teach the new word “park”.
(Teacher: Do you want to know what I usually do on weekends? If you want to know, please look at the picture. What’s this? Students: It’s a park.)
Get the students to look at the picture of the new word “park”. Get the students to say “park”, “go to the park” and “I usually go to the park.”
Student asks: What do you usually do on weekends?
Teacher answers: I usually go to the park.
5. Teach the new phrase “theme park”.
Get the students to look at the picture of the new phrase “theme park”.
Teacher: Look at this picture. Is it a park, too? No, it isn’t. What is it then? Students: It’s a theme park.
Get the students to say “theme park”,
Teacher asks: What do you usually do on weekends?
Student answers: I usually go to the theme park.
Get the students to ask and answer in groups.
Play the video. Get the students to watch and listen.
Play the video again. Get the students to listen and repeat.
Step 3 Practice
1. Part 3 Let’s play
Look at the pictures. Get the students to ask and answer in pairs.
Student A asks: What do you usually do on weekends?
Student B answers: I usually … on Sundays/Saturdays/weekends.
2. Get the students to draw some activities on the paper. Then get the students to ask and answer in pairs. At last bind the paper into a book.
