Students are very interested in the topic about food. And they have developed some abilities of communication and cooperation. Thay have learned many food words and a sentence pattern to express their feelings " What would you like? I'd like..." That makes a good foundation?for this lesson's learning.
Teaching aids: PPT, cards, tape recorder, real beef.
Teaching procedure:
Step I Revision
Create the whole context “ Li Yan’s Weekend”. Look at the table, what time is it? It’s seven o’clock. It’s time to have breakfast. What would Li Yan like? Let Ss act as Li Yan and her mum to ask and answer“What would you like? I’d like a/ an/ some…”The teacher plays the music. Students ask and answer with music.
(设计意图:由本单元的题目出发,创设统一的情境会激发学生会对李艳周末生活的好奇心,并跟随背景欢快的音乐问答练习,对上节课的知识进行了复习,也为本节课的学习打下了良好的基础。)
Step II Presentation
T: There is so much food. But what would Li Yan like best? Let’s guess: It’s from a plant. It’s white. It’s very nice. What is it? Ss: Rice. Write together, read and spell it.
T: Is it countable or uncountable? Ss: It’s uncountable. Then read “ some rice”.z
(设计意图:用猜字谜的方式导入新单词rice的学习,很容易引起学生的兴趣;由nice变为rice的细节也帮助了学生有效地区别记忆这两个单词。)
Look at the table. It’s 9:00. Li Yan and her mum will go outside. What will they do? Let’s look. Show the picture and read “ Let’s go to see your grandma. OK, let’s go.”Let’s go together with them.
It’s 12:00. Li Yan is at Grandma’s home. What food does her grandma prepare for them? Let’s look at the first course. PPT shows the picture of chicken. T: What’s this? S1: It’s chicken. T explains the composition form “chick” and “en”. Spell together and then one by one.
Let’s look at the table in details. PPT shows lemon juice, cucumber, noodles and chicken. Now let’s do a magic. Pick out one or two letter from them, “l, u, n, ch”. They make up a new word “ lunch”. Who can read it and look at the clock to guess the meaning of it. Read it one by one. Then show the picture of having lunch and read “ have lunch”one by one. Now lunch is almost ready. What would Grandma say to Li Yan?
S2: Come and have lunch. Then practice the dialogue “Come and have lunch. I’m coming.”in pairs.
(设计意图:把四种食物单词中的个别字母抽出来组成一个新的单词lunch, 既帮助他们巧妙地记忆其拼写,又理解了lunch的内涵。)
What else is on the table? Show a plate of meat. It’s from a kind of animal. Let’s listen, where is it from? Show the picture of a pig. So what’s this kind of meat? Ss: Pork. Attention to the pronunciation of “or”and read “ short, for, sport”. Compare with “ park”. Then read it one by one.
T: Pork is uncountable. Look at me. Would you like some pork?
Several times later, let Ss guess the meaning of this sentence and ask and answer in pairs.
T: Now, let’s play a passing game. (击鼓传猪肉的卡片,传递过程中全班一起拍手说“Would you like some pork?” 老师喊停时,手拿卡片的同学站起来回答问题,最后一遍加快拍手速度。)
(设计意图:用听猪叫的方式可以帮助学生理解pork的意思;将pork图片中的圆圈看成单词中的字母O,也有助于学生拼读单词;用击鼓传花的游戏对本节课的重点句型进行了大量的操练,同时也有效维持了学生的注意力。)
The teacher takes out a pack of beef. Ask “ What’s this? Do you want to know? Come and have a taste.” Invite two students to taste it. Is it candy? Chicken? Pork? What’s this? S1&S2: It’s beef. Learn new word “beerf” as above. Then ask and answer one by one.
Look at the table. It’s 12:30. Li Yan and her family are having lunch. What are they talking about? Let’s look at the whole cartoon. And answer me “ What would Li Yan like?” Then read after the tape, fill in the blanks and act out the dialogue in groups. The whole class can give comments” Excellent!” or “ Come on!”
Step III Practice
In the afternoon, Li Yan and her friends are talking about their lunch. Let students take out their cards to make up a new dialogue about “ Today’s lunch.”Then show us. (该环节学生用到的食物卡片是老师课上奖励给各个小组的。)
Step IV Sum up
Li Yan’s friend Big Bob, he eats too much candy and meat. So he’s very fatand unhealthy. So we should say”No” to him. But her friend Annie likes vegetables and fruit, so she is very healthy. So we should say “Yes” to her. So Li Yan gives us an advice”Have a balance diet and keep healthy.”
Step V Homework
Must to do: 1) Copy the words and sentences. 2) Recite the dialogues. 3) Preview the next lesson.
Try to do: 1) Make a table about today’s dinner and share with your friends.2) Make a survey about your friends’ favorite(最喜欢的) food.
