Teaching steps:
Step1 Free talk
Let students talk about the things they do and the activities they did by asking the following questions:
1. Are there many activities in our school
2. What activities do you usually do
3. What activities did you use to do
4. Is there anything unforgettable in your middle school life
Step2 Present happy school life
T: There are so many activities in our school. What activities do you usually do
Then help students go over and learn the phrasal words about activities .At the same time ask them to talk about what they did in the past. Show some pictures of their daily life and emphasize some verbal phrases.
T: Our life is colorful. But things are not always perfect. Do you have problems in your life
Step3 Talk about the problems
Ask Ss: What problems do you have and then let some individual students say out the problems they have. Show some pictures of their trouble and present more problems. Ss may have the following problems in Grade Nine.
No enough sleep
Getting bad grades
No enough time for hobbies
Having too much tests
Disagreement with parents
Being pushed too hard
Step4 Fill in the blanks
Get the students to read the passage and fill in blanks, and then ask the whole class to read it aloud. It is helpful for students to write.

It’s not easy being a student. I used (过去常常)to chat with my friends on line and go to movies on weekends, but now they are not allowed (允许). My parents always say at present(目前) the most important thing for me is to work hard (努力). I do as what they say. I stay up (熬夜) late to do plenty of exercises every night ,but I still make a lot of mistakes (错误). Sometimes I feel sleepy (困倦的)in class. Even though I work so hard, I get terrible (糟糕的) grades. I really (真正地)want to study easily and live happily (高兴地) . Who can tell me the secrets of a happy student

The secrets of happy students
Why can some students learn easily and live happily That’s because they know how to learn and use their time, they also know how to relax. Here are some rules:
Make good use of time. Smart students don’t spend their study time on any other thing. Once the books are open, phone calls go unanswered, TV shows unwatched, snacks ignored(忽视). They know study comes first. They can concentrate on what they do.
Study anytime and anywhere. Everyone has his own study habit. Some work late at night. Some wake up early. Others study as soon as they come home from school. However, you can choose any place and any time you like.
Learn actively. The key to get more knowledge is be to an active learner. When you study, you can ask questions and find messages yourself. It can help you easily understand what you learn and know better.
Believe in yourself. Belief is very important for you to succeed in doing something. Believing in yourself can’t make sure that you can succeed. But if you want to be successful, you must believe in yourself. So just believe you can do well.
Learn to relax. Everyone needs goals and challenges. But too much stress is harmful(有害的) to you. You should learn to relax. To make yourself relaxed, you must take care of yourself and keep you off the causes of stress. You can do some things like listening to music, talking with your friends and taking a walk to relax yourself.

教学设计:
本节课是在学生复习了相应单元的单词和句型后，从而以他们熟悉的学校举行的各项活动和他们日常活动开始，并以学生自己的一些生活照来展示他们丰富多彩的学校生活。给他们提供熟悉的情景，是让他们愉悦地回忆美好的学校生活同时，又自觉地运用学过的内容。然而生活也不是非常完美的，初三的生活有诸多的不如意，这样学生的话匣子也打开了，然后再输入一些有关problems的短语和句式以巩固和拓展。接着设计与problems有关的填空文章，所填写的答案既和学生的日常生活有关，又让学生对要学习的知识有初步了解的喜悦，也为接着的作文一个预热的效果。一篇“快乐学生的秘诀”的阅读，既可以培养学生的阅读能力，也为后一环节的写作提供了很好的素材。再以ideal life 为话题，让学生构想他们心目中美好的未来，这样他们就能畅所欲言。最后落实到写作。所有的教学活动都是以学校生活为主线，以词组句型开始到篇章然后落实到写作这样的设计，设置层次递进的活动，使学生能够达到预定的目标。同样也力求做到通过师生间、学生间的互动，既提高了学生的语言技能，又实现学生学习兴趣的激发和合作精神的培养。
教后反思：
本节课以School life为主线，输入大量的词组，句型和两篇短文，然后落实到写作，既培养了学生的英语口语表达能力和英语思维能力，培养学生的英语写作能力。选取的话题和情景又是学生日常生活的实实在在存在的喜与忧，能充分调动他们学习英语的热情和兴趣。应该着重要求学生掌握四会内容（听说读写），即教学目标中所列出的词组和句型，大部分学生能基本掌握这些重点内容，并且能够用英语简要复述这篇课文。但这节课的不足之处是：由于本节课的内容较多，容量较大，所以上课速度有一点快，巩固的时间有一点短，例如在做填空练习时，可让学生先填，然后检查核对，再齐读。在谈论problems时插入 school rules，这样的设计有点牵强。在写作的设计上应该给学生以一定的提示后，然后从School life寻找一个好的切入口，再进行写作。在以后的教学过程中我会合理安排好各个教学环节和时间的，优化课堂结构，向课堂四十五分钟要效益。(共18张PPT)
