When
45-year-old
Randy
Pausch
was
diagnosed
with
pancreatic
(胰腺的)cancer,
he
chose
to
focus
on
living
rather
than
dying.
As
a
computer
science
professor
at
Carnegie
Mellon
University,
Pausch
was
asked
to
deliver
a
“last
lecture”.
This
well-known
campus
tradition
allowed
professors
to
share
worldly
wisdom
with
students
as
if
they
were
dying
and
had
one
last
lecture
to
give.
The
only
difference
in
Pausch’s
case
is
that
Pausch
really
was
dying,
but
it
only
motivated
him
more.
He
delivered
his
last
lecture,
“Really
Achieving
Your
Childhood
Dreams”
on
Sept.
18,
2007.
Pausch
began
by
sharing
several
of
his
boyhood
dreams,
some
of
which
he
had
achieved
and
the
others
he
hadn’t.
He
described
the
importance
of
having
dreams
and
how
anyone
can
still
learn
a
lot
by
reaching
for
those
dreams,
even
if
they
don’t
always
succeed.
He
shared
the
values
learned
through
experience,
which
he
hoped
to
pass
on
to
others
hard
work,
laughter
and
gratitude,
honesty,
character.
Pausch’s
last
lecture
received
a
great
deal
of
praise
and
attention.
It
became
a
crazy
YouTube
hit,
and
in
October
2007,
he
presented
an

on
The
Oprah

He
turned
the
lecture
into

which

became
a

Pausch’s

Scientists
say
they
have
developed
a
system
that
uses
machine
learning
to
predict
when
and
where
lightning
will
strike.
Researchers
report
the
system
is
able
to
predict
lightning
strikes
up
to
30
minutes
before
they
happen
within
a
30-kilometer
area.
Lightning
is
a
strong
burst
of
electricity
in
the
atmosphere.
Since
it
carries
an
extremely
powerful
electrical
charge,
it
can
be
destructive
and
deadly.
European
researchers
have
estimated
that
between
6,
000
and
24,
000
people
are
killed
by
lightning
worldwide
each
year.
For
this
reason,
climate
scientists
have
long
sought
to
develop
methods
to
predict
lightning.
The
system
tested
in
the
experiments
uses
a
combination
of
data
from
weather

machine

methods.
The
researchers
developed
a

that
was

were

The
model
was
created
with
data
collected
over
a
12-year

from

Swiss
weather

in
cities

The
data,
related

was
placed
into
a

Researchers

the
algorithm

which
lightning
happens.
The

test-ran
the
system
several
times.
They
found
that
the
system
made
predictions

proved
correct
almost
80
percent

“It

the
Swiss

The
effort
is
called

They
hope
that
such

Something
else
that

you
with
your

with
authority
blogs
that

to
continue
to

on

and
get
more

time.
5 In
the
world

blog

for
all

requires
persistence

patience.
Just
keep
working
on
it.
Your

you
will
be

did.
A.
Make
your
blog
different.
B.

this
case.
C.
In
fact,
the
key
to
this
is
to
blog
effectively.
D.
Meanwhile,

links.
E.
Post

your
blog
regularly
for
the
best
results.
F.

thing
is
to
make
your
blog
look
nice.
G.
This
is
another
great
way
to
get
the
word
out
about
your
blog.

People

Maybe.
Experts
at
the
American

Association
say
that
“natural
environments
or
green

do
much
good
to
our
mental
health.
Many
studies
have
shown
that
nature
can
calm
us
and
make
us
feel
happy.
Nature,
experts
say,
can
also
help
us
learn
better.
And
experiencing
nature
helps
people
recover
from
the
mental
tiredness
that
comes
from
day-to-day
work.
On
the
other
hand,
mental

experts
say
some
research
suggests
that

But
they
cannot
say
exactly
why.
What
are
the
specific
aspects
of
the
urban
environment
which
causes
some
people
to
develop
mental

Andrea
Mechelli,
a
doctor
at
Kings
College,
London,
states,
“There

been

where
people
were

would

And
we
also
see
that

Mechelli
says
that
someone
who
lives
in
a
city
is
three
times
more
likely
to
develop
psychological
problem
than
someone
living
in
the
country.
Kings

researchers,
along
with
city
planners,
land
and
building
designers
and
others
wanted
to
learn
more
about
city
living
and
mental
illness.
So,
they
created
a
smartphone
app
called
Urban
Mind.
They
said
they
wanted
to
understand
how
different
parts
of
the
urban
environment
affect
mental
well-being(健康).
The
researchers
found
that
being
outdoors,
seeing
trees,
hearing
birdsong,
seeing
the
sky,
and
feeling
in
contact
with
nature
were
associated
with
higher
levels
of
mental
well-being.
They
also
found
that
these
seeming
effects
of
nature
were
especially
strong
in
those
individuals
at
greater

problems.
The
Urban
