牋 It can be a real struggle trying to learn a new language. I had always enjoyed learning languages in school, but only recently did I start learning German. I found that I could understand and learn individual words easily, but when it came to literature, I really struggled. That was when my tutor at university suggested reading children's books printed in the target language.
牋 At爁irst, I felt a bit silly going on a hunt for a book designed for someone half my age, but then營 realised that everyone has to start
somewhere. As children, we are given these basic texts to familiarise our燽rains with certain vocabulary and writing structures, and from there爓e can learn and develop. I started with books which are爐aught to us as children in the UK. I managed to find Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.
牋 The beauty of reading books that were introduced to you as a child is that you are already familiar with the plot. As a result, you can work out some of the definitions of words with your prior knowledge of the story. At first, I used to read with the book in one hand and a dictionary in the other, but this method did not work well for me. The method I would recommend is to read a chapter of your chosen children's book and at the end of that chapter, highlight the words you do not know and then look up the definitions. If you can wait a hit before you use a dictionary, you may be surprised at what you can get merely from the context of the sentence in the story. Additionally, a lot of children抯 books have pictures which may give you a clue as to what or to whom the passage is referring.
4.Why was the author advised to read children's books?
A.Because she was weak in reading great works.
B.Because she was slow to learn languages.
C.Because she liked children's literature.
D.Because she couldn抰 remember any words.
5.What can kids get from children's books according to the passage?
A.Vocabulary and listening skills. B.Learning methods.
C.Words and structures. D.Designing skills.
6.What causes the author to feel surprised while reading children抯 books?
A.Grasping the context from the pictures.
B.Looking up the definitions of words from a dictionary.
C.Getting familiar with the plots of the story.
D.Understanding the words simply from the context.
7.What can be the best title of the passage?
A.Learning Languages by Reading Children抯 Books
B.The Way of Learning Languages
C.The Method of Using a Dictionary
D.My Good Reading Habits
C
Alice Moore is a teenager entrepreneur(创业者), who in May 2015 set up her business AilieCandy. By the time she was 13,her company was worth millions of dollars with the invention of a super-sweet treat that could save kids' teeth, instead of destroying them.
It all began when Moore visited a bank with her dad. On the outing, she was offered a candy bar. However, her dad reminded her that sugary treats were bad for her teeth. But Moore was sick of missing out on candies. So she desired to get round the warning, "Why can't I make a healthy candy that's good for my teeth so that my parents can't say no to it?" With that in mind, Moore asked her dad if she could start her own candy company. He recommended that she do some research and talk to dentists about what a healthier candy would contain.
With her dad's permission, she spent the next two years researching online and conducting trials to get a recipe that was both tasty and tooth-friendly. She also approached dentists to learn more about teeth cleaning. Consequently, she succeeded in making a kind of candy only using natural sweeteners, which can reduce oral bacteria.
Moore then used her savings to get her business of the ground. Afterwards, she and her father secured their first business meeting with a supermarket owner, who finally agreed to sell Moore's product-Cancandy.
As CanCandy's success grows, so does Moore's credibility as a young entrepreneur. Moore is enthusiastic about the candy she created, and she's also positive about what the future might bring. She hopes that every kid can have a clean mouth and a broad smile.
Meanwhile, with her parents' help, Moore is generally able to live a normal teenage life. Although she founded her company early on in life, she wasn't driven primarily by profit. Moore wants to use her unique talent to help others find their smiles. She donates 10% of AilicCandy's profits to Big Smiles. With her talent and determination, it appears that the sky could be the limit for Alice Moore.
8.How did Moore react to her dad's warning?
A.She argued with him. B.She tried to find a way out.
C.She paid no attention. D.She chose to consult dentists.
9.What is special about CanCandy?
A.It is beneficial to dental health. B.It is free of sweeteners.
C.It is sweeter than other candies. D.It is produced to a dentists' recipe.
10.What does Moore expect from her business?
A.To earn more money. B.To help others find smiles.
C.To make herself stand out. D.To beat other candy companies.
11.What can we learn from Alice Moore's story?

The Simple Trick Can Help You Sleep
For those who can't sleep easily, prepare for the best night抯 sleep ever. No more tossing and turning into the early hours of the morning. No more counting sheep on Sunday evenings. And no more lying, wide-eyed, in the dark after waking up in the middle of the night. 16 This all-natural solution is called the 4-7-8 method, and yes, it抯 as simple as it sounds. First, get settled into a comfortable position on your bed. Then, simply breathe in air through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and then breathe the air out slowly through your mouth for eight more seconds. ___17____
That's all there is to it! Don't believe us? Just ask Harvard-educated medical doctor Andrew Weil, who adopted this exercise from a centuries-long Indian yogi meditation practice. The yogis use this method to achieve a state of complete relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety. Slowing down your breathing forces the rhythm of your heart to slow down, too. ____18___ In other words, its a natural way to make you calm for your body and mind.
揟he theory is that by putting certain rhythms on the breath with your voluntary system, gradually these are made into the involuntary nervous system," he said. ___19____ So it's the regularity of doing this over a period of weeks, months, years that produces the changes that you want.
There you go!??___20____ If you're still tossing and turning, don't miss these tips from sleep doctors which are almost guaranteed to give you a better night's sleep.
A. And that comes with time.
B. Finally, repeat until you fall asleep.
C. It makes the rest of your body relax.
D. That enables you to fall asleep more easily.
E. Here comes the explanation for your sleepless nights.
F. Once you start sticking to it, you can quit counting sheep for good.
G. There's now an easy and expert-approved way to fall asleep in less than a minute.

That was when my tutor at university suggested reading some children's books printed in the target language"可知,作者在学习单词时感觉问题不大,但涉及文学作品时就感到难了,因此她大学的导师建议她读德文的儿童书,以解决这个问题。
根据文章第二段中的“As children, we are given these basic texts to familiarise our brains with certain vocabulary and writing structures, and from there, we can learn and develop"可知, 儿童时期的书籍可以让我们的大脑熟悉某些词汇和写作结构,故答案为C项。

16. 根据划线前句“And no more lying, wide-eyed, in the dark after waking up in the middle of the night.(再也不用躺着,睁大眼睛,在半夜醒来后的黑暗中)”可知,对于晚上睡不好觉的问题,作者认为已经找到了解决方案了。 同时G项中的“an easy and expert-approved way to fall asleep”指代的后文中提及的“This all-natural solution is called the 4-7-8 method.(这种纯天然的解决方法被称为4-7-8法)”。故选G项。
17. 根据划线前句提及“Then, simply breathe in air through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and then breathe the air out slowly through your mouth for eight more seconds.(然后,简单地用鼻子吸气4秒,屏住呼吸7秒,然后再用嘴慢慢地呼气8秒)”可知,此处在阐述前文提及的4-7-8助眠法。 和“Then,…..”
18. 根据划线前句提及“Slowing down your breathing forces the rhythm of your heart to slow down, too.(放慢你的呼吸也会迫使你的心跳节奏放慢)”可知,放慢呼吸能让你的心跳节奏也放慢。
19. 根据划线后文“So it's the regularity of doing this over a period of weeks, months, years that produces the changes that you want.(因此,在数周,数月,数年的时间内进行此操作的规律性会产生你想要的更改)”可知,进行此助眠法需要时间的练习。 故选A项。

????Last Sunday I witnessed traffic accident on my way home. I was wandering down the sidewalk I heard a loud noise. Two taxis crashed into each other about ten away. I went up and found the two drivers badly injured, bleeding trapped in the taxis., they were rescued in time because of people came to help them and called an ambulance. It was clear that the taxi drivers were eager to take more passengers that they too fast. These drivers lacked responsibility for the of their passengers. What they did was dangerous for others as well as.
结合从句?I heard a loud noise 可知,此句要用 when 来连接。
because?
和 such ... that ...
drive?
以及?of?
