1.Lead-in
The teacher shows some pictures about fire and ask questions.
Students answer and talk together.?

(1)Jason Glen is a 12-year-old boy from Riverside High School.
在12-year-old这一结构中,词与词之间用连字符连接。
e.g.: I am six-year-old.
【注意】去掉连字符,此时year用复数。
e.g.: I am six years old.
(2)On the first day of school, something terrible happened.
happen v. 发生 (偶然发生,没有预料)
某人发生了某事: sth happen to sb
e.g.: A fire happened to my family yesterday.
(3)Jason, don’t be afraid. We are with you.
be with sb 和某人在一起
e.g. I am with my mother .
(4)So they came up with a plan.
come up with 想出(主意,计划等)
e.g.: He came up with a good idea.
(5)In just three days, the school raised $1200.
raise v. 筹集,募捐
e.g.: We raise money to buy books.
raise还表示(1)举起,提起(2)增加,提高(数字、水平)(3)喂养,养育
