There are some key words or phrases that you might use for different options or possibilities.

Step 1: take notes
Listen to two conversations between two good friends about choosing possible courses to study at university and take notes. (Fill in the table on Page58)
Read the passage on Page59 and decide the following sentences are true or false.
Skills building2: Discussing options and possibilities
When you are discussing options or possibilities, it is like playing a game of tennis.
One way you can do this is by asking questions.
Another way is adding question tags on to your statements.
e.g. ●What do you think ● What is your opinion ● What would you do
● Do you think that is true/possible/correct ● Don’t you think so
● …, isn’t it ● … , wouldn’t you
Step 2: discussing course options
Discuss the courses you and your friend have chosen, according to the materials given on Page 60.

Step I Lead-in
1. Show pictures to students, and lead in the topic about university life
Show students some pictures of colorful university life abroad and ask two questions.
1) Have you thought about studying abroad
2) What do you think life would be like if you studied abroad
Look at the title “My university life” and guess what this article will be about.
Step II Listening
Listen to the tape and finish the following two tasks.

Jiangnan University with beautiful environment is located on the coast of Dai Hu in Wuxi. It covers the area of one thousand Mu. There are good public transport links with the city center, and to the Wuxi rail station, which is very convenient to go anywhere.
The Jianghua campus has plenty of well-equipped facilities, including modern teaching buildings, libraries, gyms , dormitories and recreation centers for students to study and live in. Besides, there are a large number of excellent experienced professors and tutors of PH.D, and there the range of courses is very wide, so the standard of teaching is at the top class.
In conclusion, the university has a long history and culture as well as the first-class teaching conditions. Thus, it is a good place for undergraduate students to continue their education and enjoy their life.
