Adverbial
Clauses
在复合句中，如果作状语的是一个从句，该从句被称为状语从句。
状语从句可以表示时间、地点、原因、条件、目的、结果、让步、比较和方式等。

基本含义和用法
用状语从句来表达一件事情或一个行为发生的时间，这个从句就叫做时间状语从句。
when意思是“当……时”，表示主句动作发生的特定时间。
While
my
sister
was

the
floor,
I

washing
the
dishes.
我姐姐扫地时，我在洗碗。
while意思是“当……时”，强调主句动作和从句动作是同时发生的。

days
get
longer
when
spring
comes.
春天到来时，白天变长了。
注意：while引导的从句的谓语动词必须是延续性的。
while还可以表示“在……期间”，表示主句动作发生在从句动作进行的过程中。

注意：
在when和while引导的从句中，当主句和从句的主语一致，并且从句中有be动词时，可以省略主语和be动词，构成when/while+
-ing结构。如：

Before意为“在……之前”，表示主句动作发生在从句动作之前。

注意：since引导的从句的谓语动词可以是延续性动词，也可以是瞬时动词。

till和until意思是
“到……为止”
，一般情况下两者可以互换。until可以放在句首或句中，而till不可以用在句首。
