One thing that most touched my heart was that she would go to whoever was sick and just be with them we always felt better when she was around.

How to Be a Winner
Sir Steven Redgrave
Winner of 5 Olympic Gold Medals
“In 1997 I was found to have developed diabetes (糖尿病) . Believing my career (职业生涯)was over, I felt extremely low. Then one of the specialists said there was no reason why I should stop training and competing. That was it----the encouragement I needed. I could still be a winner if I believed in myself. I am not saying that it isn’t difficult sometimes. But I wanted to prove to myself that I wasn’t finished yet. Nothing is to stand in my way.”
Karen Pickering
Swimming World Champion
“I swim 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. I manage that sort of workload by putting it on top of my diary. This is the key to success—you can’t follow a career in any field without being well-organized. List what you believe you can achieve. “Trust yourself, write down your goals for the day, however small they are, and you’ll be a step closer to achieving them.”
Kirsten Best
Poet & Writer
“When things are getting hard, a voice inside my head tells me that I can’t achieve something. Then, there are other distractions, such as family or hobbies. The key is to concentrate. When I feel tense, it helps a lot to repeat words such as ‘calm’, ‘peace’ or ‘focus’, either out loud or silently in my mind. It makes me feel more in control and increases my confidence. This is a habit that can become second nature quite easily and is a powerful psychological (心理的) tool.”

Who is there among us who hasn't dreamed of having his or her own small ( maybe, several years later, even big) business, and having wonderful freedom, both from a boss and from the time clock: the freedom to make up our own rules for our work, and our own plans---arranging our own hours of work That way work would be both painless and fun. Or, so we imagine.
Well, in fact it isn't quite as simple as that. Yes, it is true that being the boss has its satisfactions and that you can arrange your working hours freely if you own your own small business. But in those early years of starting your own business, you shouldn't think of a free day, not to mention flying off for a month's vacation. It is not unusual for new business owners to work seventy or eighty hours a week, and if there is a day off, that day might need to be devoted to accounting(算账).
But this negative picture doesn't destroy the beautiful hopes. The possibility of getting something wonderful in return--both material and mental--continues to drive that large number of people who start up small businesses each year in the United States.
65. From the first paragraph, we know that everybody hopes_______.
A. to rule others B. to be his or her own boss
C. to get a time clock D. to be free from work
66. Most new business owners have to_______.
A. work more than 10 hours a day B. devote himself to accounting
C. fly to some places in the world D. have a day off in a week
67. The expression "negative picture" in the text probably means_______.
A. a terrible experience B. a poor picture
C. limited freedom D. unpleasant situations
68. The beautiful hopes will never be destroyed because_______.
A. people love beautiful things by nature
B. people have a strong desire to seek personal gains

Best ways to relax when stressed
69. ____________________
Go to feel the sunshine outside. Take a long drive. Open the windows and feel the wind while driving. Fuel up your vehicle, and go to places you’ve never really been to. New routes will distract your mind, give you something new to see, and keep problems and stress at bay.
70. ____________________
One of the best methods to get relaxed is to plug in the earphones, and listen to some music. Whether or not you agree, music is a therapy in itself. Listen to your favorite music, dance to the tones, and sing to the hymns – it might not solve the problem you’re stuck in, but it might just distract you for a while.
71. ____________________
Breathing exercise is simple, but works perfectly. How Let me explain. Suppose that you have a stress ball in front of you. Now, keep staring at it for a while as you breathe in and breathe out. Don’t let your mind wander anywhere else, and just concentrate on the ball. This is one of the best ways to relax your mind when there’s little you can do to relieve yourself.
72. ______________________
When the weather is getting you down, and you’re not sure how to deal with the voices in your head. All you need to do is pick up a few bars of chocolate, and settle down for a laughter riot. Fetch a DVD of your favorite comedy movie, and watch it till you’re out of stress.
73. ______________________
Take a day off from work, slip into your night suit, and go to bed. Put your phone on the silent mode, shut the door, take the blanket on, and rush into the world of dreams, where no stress exists. Get enough sleep, for it’s the best relaxation technique for stress.

M: Why are you in such a hurry, Mary
W: Hi, Tom. I’m going to look for some materials for my presentation tomorrow.
M: Don’t work too hard. Your work seems to be going all right, isn’t it
W: Well, it’s OK. But besides the language problem, there is another thing that is hard for me: I’m not used to having discussions.

M: You know, Jim and Mary are really upset because their Mom and Dad have been telling them they should try to save more money.
W: Well, I don’t blame them. I think parents shouldn’t tell their married children what to do.
M: Yeah, but Jim and Mary don’t save enough money, and their Mom and Dad are worried about them and their future.
W: You have a point, but I still think it’s their problem, not their Mom and Dad’s.

M: Whitney, what kind of clothes do you like
W: I like fun clothes and mini skirts in many colors. My mother wears classic styles of clothing. She likes dark colors. This is good for older women. But young girls should wear more vivid colors. I think metallic silver is the most exciting color. What do you think, David
M: Well, I always wear jeans and T-shirts. I’m not interested in fashion. A person can’t be interested only in fashion. We must use our brains. I think smart girls are usually more interested in music, sports, or movies. In general, I wear informal clothes.

W: Would I have to take an English course in the United States
M: Well, that depends on your TOEFL results. If you need an English course, you can take one at the university.
W: What kinds of courses do you have
M: We have courses in writing, reading, listening, and note-taking.
W: I see. And I was wondering about accommodations. Is it easy to get a place to stay
M: Yes, fairly easy. You can apply for a room in a dormitory or you can write to the student housing office. They have a list of rooms and apartments that are available.
W: All right. And how do I go about getting a visa
M: Well, once you’ve been accepted by the university, they’ll send you the forms you need to apply for a student visa.

W: Taxi!
M: Where to, Madam
W: Battery Park, please, but can you make a stop at Union Square I want to pick up my friend there.
M: Of course.
W: How long will it take to get to Union Square
M: Well, that depends on the traffic, you know. It’s pretty heavy this afternoon.
W: Can you make it there in fifteen minutes I’m already ten minutes late.
M: OK, I’ll try. Where exactly is your friend waiting
W: On the 14th Street side... Oh, we’re already at 16th Street. You’re fast. Can you make a left at the next corner
M: Ok, you got it.
W: I think she’s around here. Can you slow down Ah, there she is! Just in front of the bookshop. Sally!

Okay, please listen up: we are going to start our tour of Fujisaka Palace in about 10 minutes. This is one of the most unique palaces in Japan, in part because it has been set out here in a rural area near Kobe. This is quite different from other palaces in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka. Because it sits here on a mountain, samurai (日本武士) warlords long ago used it to control the surrounding countryside. You’re certain to find the views here breathtaking. The palace is not especially big, but it is still possible to get a bit lost, so please remember this main gate here if you do get lost. The main gate will be your landmark. You can’t miss it because it’s the only way in and out of the castle. Also, it has two large dragon heads at the top. Please feel free to visit the souvenir shop on the grounds. Let’s meet back here in about 45 minutes. Okay, enjoy yourselves at Fujisaka Palace!
