Passwords don抰 have to be a pain. There抯 a way to choose and remember them with confidence. With the right approach, you can start using the process to your advantage, by setting passwords that also strengthen your memory.
Passwords should be complex and varied enough to be secure, yet still memorable. But with so many to keep track of, this can be hard to achieve. No wonder so many people use the same password over and over again or simply write them all down!
A much better idea is to follow a system. You save time at the setting stage and have a clear pattern for your memory to follow. It抯 good exercise for your brain and a valuable way to protect your identity online.
The following system uses letters, numbers and symbols, so it will please even the strictest website. And the random-looking codes it produces would be extremely difficult for someone to crack, but just enough of a challenge for your brain. First, choose a short quotation, one that no one would have any reason to associate with you. Pick out the initial letters-creating the first 揵uilding block for your passwords. So, if you chose, 損lay it again, Sam, youd have the letters PIAS.
Next, choose a meaningful date-again, one that can抰 be guessed or easily researched. Maybe the year of a favourite holiday, 86, say.
Then add a random element by picking any two keyboard symbols: for example, & and $.
Finally, organize these building blocks in any order you like. And strengthen the code further by making some of the letters lower case, and some upper: maybe 86& $ PiAs.
Spend a little time getting to know this foundation for your passwords. 揝ee it in your mind抯 eye. And then start using it as the basis for every new password you set. Add two or three extra letters each time, a few initials to remind you of what this particular password is for. For example, you might use CC for the camera club forum.
So the final password for your BBC account could be: BBC86&$ PiAs.
With a system like this, you抳e got a basic formula to follow. But each password ends up being complex and unique, helping to protect your identity and giving your memory a cracking workout every time.
8. For safety, a password must be ________.
A. simple and easy to remember. B. long enough not to be broken.
C. complicated but unforgettable. D. related to your personal information.
9. What抯 the second step in writing a new password?
A. Find a proper number. B. Think of a short sentence.
C. Add your account name. D. Choose two keyboard symbols.
10. Which of the following may be a perfect password?
A. QQ56@%PmP. B. VОA80*$
C. +@12FsLtw D. WX89MhMLw
11. What is the text mainly about?
A. A password researcher. B. A method of designing passwords.
C. A way to exercise your brain. D. A teaching program about passwords.

The waters around the Galapagos Islands, a hot spot of biodiversity off the coast of Ecuador, have been invaded by more alien species than previously thought.
While the number of invasive species on land is well-documented, relatively little was known about those in the marine environment.
Now field surveys have found 48 invasive species off the coasts of the islands, in addition to five known non-native species. These creatures probably got a free ride on ships from around the world.
These surveys were undertaken only in certain hahitats around two of the larger islands, so the actual number of invasive species is likely to be much greater. 揊rom our knowledge of similar studies, I wouldn抰 be surprised if the number was twice as many, says team member Jim Carlton of Williams College in Massachusetts.
The alien species included worms, mussels crabs and sea squirts. There were also tiny moss(苔藤)animals, such as Amathia verticillata, which kills seagrass and messes up fishing equipment.
Seventeen of the newly-identified invaders had been spotted around the Galapagos Islands before, but bad been wrongly thought to have been native species.
The influence of these alien species on the islands ecosystems is not yet known. But it is likely to be damaging judging from experiences elsewhere, and could threaten hundreds of local species on the islands. 揥hat we know is that a number of these invasive species clearly have had serious effects elsewhere in the world, says Carlton.
Invasions in other places suggest that even more harmful species could soon be headed for the waters of the Galapagos Islands, the team warns, including soft corals(珊瑚虫)that could grow rapidly over local coral, and the possibility of poisonous lionfish crossing from the Caribbean through the Panama Canal.
The Galaparos Marine Reserve is now protected, but it will be hard to stop further invaders because it is difficult to check for tiny species on the bottom of every visiting boat.
12. How many invasive species have been found off the coasts of the Galapagos Islands?
A. 5 B. 43 C. 48 D. 53
13. What can be learned about Amathia verticillata?
A. It mainly feeds on worms and lionfish.
B. It抣l be harmful to the fishing industry.
C. It was the earliest invader found in Ecuador.
D. It makes up the majority of invasive species.
14. What抯 the seventh paragraph mainly about?
A. The damage of local species. B. The ecosystem around Ecuador.
C. The impact of invasive species. D. The number of invasive species.
15. Why is it difficult to prevent further invasion?
A. Alien species are spreading quickly. B. Many ships visit the islands illegally.
C. It抯 hard to identify very small species. D. There is a lack of men needed for the job.

Passwords don’t have to be a pain. There’s a way to choose and remember them with confidence.
WX89MhMLw

The influence of these alien species on the islands’ ecosystems is not yet known. But it is likely to be damaging judging from experiences elsewhere, and could threaten hundreds of local species on the islands. “What we know is that a number of these invasive species clearly have had serious effects elsewhere in the world,” says Carlton.
B. It’ll be harmful to the fishing industry.
C. It was the earliest invader found in Ecuador.
D. It makes up the majority of invasive species.
14. What’s the seventh paragraph mainly about?
A. The damage of local species. B. The ecosystem around Ecuador.
C. The impact of invasive species. D. The number of invasive species.
15. Why is it difficult to prevent further invasion?
A. Alien species are spreading quickly. B. Many ships visit the islands illegally.
C. It’s hard to identify very small species. D. There is a lack of men needed for the job.

“Why not walk behind and see how frightened the other animals will be when they see me?” said the fox.
The tiger agreed. So he went along with the fox to find out whether it was true. All the animals really ran away the moment they saw the fox followed by a tiger indeed. How stupid the tiger was! He didn’t even realize that it was he himself that all the other animals were really afraid of.
