Lesson1 5 Tall or Short 教学设计
Teaching aims:
Knowledge aim: Let the students master the words: metre,
a bit ,against, tail ,upon, ground.
Ability aims :Let them know about the meaning of the text .
Let the students learn to use the sentence patterns:
How tall is he/she?
He/She is ...metres tall.
How tall are you? I抦 ... metres tall.
He/She is a bit short.
3. Emotional aim:Let the students learn to be a happy and active person ,no matter how tall he or she is.

To master the usages of the words and phrases.
2. To know about how to introduce height in English. They master some sentences:

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Greet the students
Good morning/afternoon, boys and girls.
Show a picture about two students in different heights .and then lead in lesson 15 Tall or Short. Meanwhile, tell the students Tall is the opposite of short. Let the students list some opposites.
Step 2 Presentation
Let the students read some measurements
1.85 m one point eight five metres
1.6 m one point six metres
0.95 m zero point nine five metres
Step 3 Let the students describe someone′ s height. They can use the following sentences:
How tall are you ? I am …metres tall.
Who is he? He is
How tall is he/she ? He/She is 卪etres tall.
She is a bit short.
Step 4 Reading
Read the text and fill in the table.
How tall is Bob?
How tall is Jack?
How tall is Li Lin?
How tall is Danny?
Name Bob Jack Li Lin Danny
Height 1.85 1.6m 1.5m 1.65m
Finish the task in class orally.
Bob is a tall man. Li Lin is a bit short.
The teacher can explain揳 bit=a little.
Step 5 Practice
Work in groups to introduce their heights. Practice for a while ,and then let some groups present their dialogues in front of the class .
Example S1: How tall are you ?
S2: I am 卪etres tall.
S1: How tall is she?
S3: She is 卪etres tall. How tall are you ?
S1: I am 卪etres tall. How tall are you ?
S3: I am 卪etres tall.
Step 6 Summary
Let the students review some sentences about describing height ,and know about how to use them.

How tall is he/she ? He/She is 卪etres tall.
She is a bit short.
Step 7 homework
Work in pairs .Interview your classmates and fill in the table.then use the information to write some sentences.
