Party and our motherland.
The event is so meaningful that not only can it raise patriotic awareness of us students, but

录音原文:
第一节
Text 1
M: I just read in the newspaper that parking fees are going up!
W: That makes me angry!
M: I feel the same way!
Text 2
W: David, what’s the matter with you?
M: I cough a lot, but I don’t have a fever or a headache.
Text 3
M: How do you and the other students come to school every day?
W: Twenty of us come by bike, twenty-five by bus, and the other ten walk.
Text 4?
M: Did you break the front window?
W: Some kids threw a ball through the window, shouted “Sorry!”, and ran away.
M: Um... OK. I guess I’ll buy something to fix it with.
W: Don’t worry about it. I already called a repairman.
Text 5
M: I heard on the news that the ocean is twice as dirty as it was when we were children.
W: That’s upsetting. It’s frightening to see the environment being destroyed.
第二节 ?
Text 6
??
??
W: All right, students, listen up. Next week, we will have a test on the first three chapters of the
book.
M: How long will the test be?
W: It should take you the entire class period.
M: Two hours long? If we don’t finish, can we stay after class?
W: No. You should be able to finish in the time we have.
Text 7
M: Next week I’m going to New York to sign a business contract. What would you suggest I see
while I’m there?
W: You should definitely go to the UN building and the Broadway where you can see a movie or a
drama or even you should have a look at its universities.
M: Sounds great. But do you have a map of the city?
W: Yes, I have one right here. I can give it to you, but I’d also suggest that you stop at the travel
agency near the train station. They will have good up-to-date maps and they can give you more
tourist information about the city.
Text 8
M: We haven’t seen such heavy snow here for years. The snow is at least 4 inches deep. The heaviest
snow I can remember was only 3 inches deep.
W: I love snow. When I was a child, there was so much snow. It would reach about 8 inches
sometimes. I used to make snowballs and have big snowball fights. And I love skating. Do you like
skating?
M: Yes, of course. I hope the lakes will freeze soon.
W: So do I. By the way, did you hear the weather forecast this morning?
M: Yes, it said cloudy today, with a strong wind. The highest temperature will be six below zero in
the morning, but in the afternoon it will be a little warmer.
W: I hope the beautiful snow will not melt away so soon.
M: But be careful there will be ice on the roads.
Text 9
W: What do you plan to order?
M: I think I’ll just have a salad and a cup of tea.
W: Is that all?
M: Yes, I’m on a diet. My doctor told me that I should lose some weight because I’m too fat.
W: How do you feel?
M: I feel fine. In fact, I never felt better. Furthermore, some of my old clothes would fit me if I lost
about 40 pounds.
W: How long will that take you?
M: Well, I’ve just started my diet, so it may take me six months to get down to my proper weight.
W: Do you plan to eat nothing but salads for six months?
M: No, I’ll be able to eat fruit and certain meats and milk products, but most importantly, I should
never eat anything between meals and I should not eat anything containing sugar.
Text 10
Mr. Black works in an office in London, but he lives in the countryside and comes to work by
train every day. As the station is not very far from his office, Mr. Black always goes on foot, and he
always goes along the same street. Every evening, he passes a poor man near a bridge. The man

always sits there, selling matches and there is always an old dog near him. There is a piece of wood
around the dog’s neck, with the words “I’m blind" written on it. Mr. Black is a kind man. He gives
him a little money every day but never takes any of his matches.
Yesterday, Mr. Black had a lot of work to do in his office and was very late. He came to the man
and his dog, but he did not stop. He walked quickly toward the railway station. But the poor man
stood up quickly, ran after him and said, “You haven’t given me anything today. You’re always kind
to me.” Mr. Black stopped and looked at the man. Then he said, “You are a blind man. How did you
follow me?” The poor man said, “I’m not blind. My dog is.”
