三、阅读理解(每小题3分, 共15分)
What's going to happen in the future? Will robots control our planet? Will computers become smarter than us? Not likely. But here are some things that scientists say are most likely to happen in 10-30 years from now, according to the BBC.
Bionic(仿生的) Eyes
They are no longer something only in a science fiction movie. People who are blind may have a chance to see things clearly—by wearing bionic eyes.
A blind eye can no longer sense sight, but a bionic eye can use a camera to “see” the environment and send information to the mind. Now the bionic eye only allows patients to see lights and unclear shapes. A bionic eye with very clear pictures could be just in a few years away.
Digital Money
We used to pay with cash for everything we bought. Now we can use WeChat Pay or Alipay to shop. Money is spent without seeing it. That means we are already using digital money. People only need to take a mobile phone wherever they go. Using these ways is much easier than searching our pockets for change. It is also safer than carrying a lot of cash.
It is reported that people in Sweden completely stopped using cash last year, and the US might be the next.
Self?driving Cars
Unlike a human driver, a self?driving car won't be influenced by a phone call, the radio or something outside the window. Sensors(探测器) and cameras on the car would allow it to follow the rules of the road strictly and keep a safe space from other cars. This would greatly make the number of road accidents smaller. You can even take a short rest while the car drives itself. In the future, driverless cars would be widely accepted.
21. Which of the following payments is not mentioned in this passage?
A. Cash. B. WeChat Pay.
C. Alipay. D. Credit cards.
22. Bionic eyes send information to the ________.
A. mind B. camera C. computer D. heart
23. From the report, we can learn some information about ________.
A. industry and farming B. traffic and journeys
C. science and technology D. culture and art
24. The passage tells us that ________.
A. bionic eyes only appear in the science fiction films
B. the blind wearing bionic eyes may see clearly in the future
C. self?driving cars will be influenced by something outside
D. there will be no accidents at all if self?driving cars are used
25. We can infer(推断)that ________from the passage.
A. there would be a number of self?driving cars on the road
B. robots would control the world
C. the blind could use glasses to see things around
D. we would live a hard life with digital money
四、【荣德原创】任务型阅读(每小题3分, 共15分)
Have you ever imagined what life will be like in 2060? An international group of forty scientists have made some surprising predictions. They said that in the next forty years, our lives would change beyond our wildest dreams.
Firstly, human beings can grow body parts themselves. Professor Ellen Heber?Katz is one of the forty scientists. He says, “People will take it for granted that injured or sick organs can be repaired. It's just like the way we fix a car.” Damaged parts will be taken away. Scientists could use human cells to grow new organs. New technologies like this will also help people to live longer. Within forty years, most people will be able to live for up to one hundred years.
Secondly, the scientists have predicted that a machine will be invented to “read” the minds of animals. In 2060, we will be able to “talk” to animals. Scientists say that human beings could first “talk” with mammals and then vertebrates such as fish.
Our houses might also change beyond our imagination. Professor Susan Greenfield predicts that when you enter the living room, sensors will recognize you. They will turn on the lights. If you talk to the lights, they will change to the color of your choice.
But what would be the biggest break through over the next forty years? A number of scientists believe it would be the discovery of aliens. NASA scientist Chris McKay says, “We may find aliens in space and talk with them.” He believes evidence of alien life may even be found here on Earth. Does life in 2060 sound cool to you? Let's wait and see what will really happen then!
