Because

70.
People
see
libraries
as
a
way
to
connect
with
others
and
get
their
questions
answered.
71.
Possible
Answer
1:
Yes.
First,
tablet
reading
is
convenient,
as
one
can
access
reading
materials
from
anywhere
and
anytime.
Second,
it
saves
time
because
one
does
not
need
to
travel
to
the
library
to
borrow
books.
Therefore,
libraries
will
be
replaced
by
tablets.
Possible
Answer
2:
No.
First,
we
can
borrow
books
for
free
from
the
library,
which
is
more
economical
than
buying
e-books.
Second,
lots
of
people,
especially
students,
enjoy
reading
in
a
public
library
given
the
quiet
atmosphere.
Therefore,
libraries
will
not
be
replaced
by
tablets.

书面表达(20分)
One
possible
version:
Dear
Jim,
Learning
that
you’re
going
to
introduce
a
traditional
Chinese
art
form
during
the
Chinese
Culture
Week
in
your
school,
I’d
like
to
recommend
Beijing
Opera.
First
of
all,
Beijing
Opera
enjoys
global
popularity.
Its
unique
performance
styles,
which
combine
acting,
talking,
singing,
music,
dancing
and
acrobatics,
certainly
appeal
to
the
audience
regardless
of
their
language
background.
Meanwhile,
the
performers
wear
beautiful
costumes
with
various
brightly
painted
masks,
which
always
wows
the
viewers.
Beijing
Opera
is
one
symbol
of
Chinese
culture,
definitely
making
it
second
to
none.
I
hope
my
recommendation
helps.
If
you
decide
to
introduce
Beijing
Opera,
please
let
me
know
and
I
will
send
you
more
materials
on
this
topic.
Yours,
Li

Good
morning,
everyone.
Today
I’m
going
to
give
some
advice
on
improving
memory.
First,
give
the
brain
a
workout.
As
physical
workouts
can
increase
our
muscle
strength,
mental
workouts
can
increase
our
memory
by
challenging
ourselves
to
develop
new
brain
pathways.
For
example,
learning
a
new
language,
solving
higher-level
math
problems,
and
writing
essays
can
serve
as
mental
workouts.
Second,
do
physical
exercise.
Physical
exercise
can
increase
blood
circulation
throughout
our
body,
which
sends
more
oxygen
to
our
brain.
Therefore,
it
reduces
the
risk
of
memory
loss
and
increases
the
brain
activity.
The
third
tip
is
to
get
enough
sleep.
Sleep
plays
an
important
role
in
memory.
While
the
amount
of
required
sleep
time
might
vary,
most
adults
should
get
7-9
hours
of
sleep
a
night
to
store
memories
in
the
brain.
Finally,
make
time
for
family
and
friends.
Healthy
relationships
are
necessary
to
improve
our
memory,
which
helps
reduce
the
factors
that
can
lead
to
memory
loss,
such
as
stress
and
depression.
Our
memory
is
closely
linked
to
both
our
physical
and
mental
health,
and
the
best
way
to
improve
our
memory
is
to
have
a
healthy
daily
routine.
Thank
you.

A
Lesson
from
a
Five-Year-Old
It’s
eight
o’clock
on
a
cold
spring
night.
The
phone
rings
for
the
sixth
time
in
less
than
an
hour.
I
know
who
it
is—my
mom.
When
my
mom
was
68,
a
stroke(中风)took
her
16
but
not
her
life.
She’s
suffering
from
paranoia.
She
thinks
she
has
been
kicked
out
of
her
house
which
is
not
true
and
she
thinks
her
daughters
have
not
visited
in
months
even
though
it
was
only
a
few
days
ago.
Each
time
she

I

a

myself
called
“How

Person
Can
I
Be?”.
I’ve
18
five
rounds
of
the
game
tonight.
But
I’m
due
for
a
loss.
My
mom
has
no
idea
that
she
has
19
the
things
she
has
said
a
million
times
today
and
a
million
times
yesterday.
She
has
no
idea
that
she
cannot
recall
her
own
grand-daughter’s
name.
“Mom!”
I
yell.
“You’re
not
being
20
your
home!
And
we
visited
two
days
ago!
I
cannot
talk
anymore!
Everything
is
fine!”
I
sink
into
the
sofa,
21
that
my
daughter
saw
everything.
I
have
not
only
failed
tonight
at
being
a
good
person,
but
I
have
failed
at
being
a
good
22
to
my
daughter.
“Can
I
talk
to
Grandma
Ellie?”
My
daughter
23
for
the
phone.
I
hand
it
over.
“Hi,
Grandma!”
I
hear
my
mother’s
bright
and
cheerful
voice
24
the
receiver,
“Sweetheart!
Did
you
go
to
school
today?”
“Yes,
Grandma.
Today
was
share
day,
and
I
brought
my
Wonder
Woman
necklaces.”
My
mother
tells
her
how
much
she
loves
her
and
how
lovely
her
voice
sounds.
Then,
“Tell
me,
did
you
go
to
school
today?”
“Yes,
Grandma.
I
went
to
school
and
we
had
share
day.
I
brought
my
Wonder

necklaces.”
I
listen
to
my
daughter
talk
25
to
her
grandmother.
My
daughter
has
a
lot
of
26
towards
her.
I
have
spent
so
much
time
27
she
had
a
“real”
grandmother.
In
this
moment,
I
realize
that
she
does
have
a
real
grandmother,
and
she
does
have
a
real
28
with
her.
It
isn’t
the
one
I
had
hoped
for,
but
to
her,
this
is
29
—to
care
for
a
loved
one
is
a

of

it:
it
is
an
ideal
mix
of
a
lovely
self-catering(自助式)place
with
the
stress-free
ease
of
a

And
speaking
of
easing
the
stress,
they’ll
even
lend
you
a

the

all
of
which—including
the

If

Elon
Musk
is
a
symbol
of
passion,
hard
work
and
success.
A
person
may
work
hard
in
his
life,
but
when
hard
work
goes
along
with
passion
and
a
new
idea,
then
something
is
created
that
astonishes
the
world.
As
the
founder
of
big
companies
like
PayPal,
SpaceX,
and
Tesla
Motors,
Elon
Musk
is
a
guide
and
inspiration
for
the
youth
around
the
world.
Elon
Musk
was
born
on
June
28,
1971
in
Pretoria,
South
Africa.
He
was
the
eldest
of
three
children.
His
father
Errol
Musk,
a
British-born
South
African,
was
an
engineer.
Musk
spent
his
childhood
in
South
Africa
and
at
the
age
of
9,
he
got
his
first
personal
computer.
This
got
Elon
interested
in
programming
and
he
started
to
learn
on
his
own.
At
the
age
of
12,
he
made
his
first
computer
game,
Blaster,
which
earned
him
$500
when
he
sold
the
source
code
to
a
magazine.
When
he
was
17,
he
decided
to
leave
home
and
had
wanted
to
move
to
the
United
States
after
graduating
from
a
secondary
school
in
Pretoria.
However,
he
was
unable
to
move
to
the
United
States.
In
1989,
Elon
Musk
moved
to
Canada,
where
his
mother’s
relatives
lived.
After
obtaining
Canadian
citizenship,
Musk
went
to
Montreal.
Due
to
a
lack
of
money,
he
found
a
low-paying
job.
At
the
age
of
19,
he
entered
Queens
University
in
Kingston,
Ontario,
studying
there
for
two
years.
Finally,
in
1992,
his
dream
came
true—he
moved
to
the
United
States.
As
a
teenager,
Musk
struggled
with
depression.
But
then
he
realized
that
the
most
important
thing
was
presenting
himself
with
the
right
questions.
The
day
he
started
doing
this,
everything
started
to
get
easier.
Musk
thought
that
a
human
being
had
to
expand
the
limits
of
his
consciousness—to
ask
the
right
questions
and
get
answers
to
them;
thus
he
asked
the
best
question
of
all:
what
will
have
the
greatest
impact
on
the
future
of
humans?
Musk
found
that
these
things
were
the
Internet
and
space
exploration.
The
life
of
Elon
Musk
is
inspiring.
He
found
success
on
the
Internet,
without
much
formal
learning.
By
reading
books
and
using
his
willpower
and
dedication,
he
reached
a
level
of
knowledge
that
is
difficult
to
imagine.
He
did
not
give
up
until
he
achieved
his
dreams.
Elon
Musk
truly
stands
out
among
other
billionaires
because
of
his
leadership
abilities,
positive
attitude,
ability
to
know
when
to
take
risks,
and
belief
in
futuristic
technologies.
34.
According
to
the
passage,
Elon
Musk
gained
knowledge
of
computer
by
________.
A.
teaching
himself
B.
learning
from
his
father
C.
taking
online
courses
D.
studying
in
Queens
University
35.
What
made
things
easier
for
Elon
Musk
when
he
suffered
from
depression?
A.
Expanding
knowledge
by
reading
books.
B.
Asking
himself
the
right
questions.
C.
Achieving
success
on
the
Internet.

A.
Optimistic
and
generous.
B.
Ambitious
and

C.
Independent
and
helpful.
D.
Adventurous
and

C
Photographer
Rebecca
Douglas
has
always
been
fascinated
by
the
night
sky.
Her
love
for
stars
has
taken
the
U.K.
resident
on
“star
walking”
trips
to
Iceland
and
into
the
Arctic,
where
she
steps
out
onto
darkened
trails
to
capture
twinkling
stars
and
glowing
planets
in
her
images.?
Hiking
at
night
isn’t
uncommon.
Plenty
of
people
hike
after
dark
to
get
to
campsites
or
watch
the
sunrise
from
a
mountaintop.
Star
walking
goes
a
step
further
by
blending
hiking
with
stargazing.
Rather
than
heading
to
an
observatory
or
setting
up
a
telescope
in
your
backyard,
star
walking
takes
you
on
a
brief
journey
to
look
at
the
stars
from
different
viewpoints.
Whether
you’re
in
the
mountainside
or
by
the
lake
with
stars
reflecting
on
the
water,
star
walking
is
often
much
more
dynamic
than
traditional
stargazing.
What’s
more,
star
walking
is
good
for
you.
There
are
plenty
of?studies?that
show
the
health
benefits
of
being
in
nature.
Spending
at
least
two
hours
a
week
outdoors,
particularly
while
engaging
in
what
involves
“effortless
attention”,
can
decrease
blood
pressure,
heart
rate,
and
stress
levels.
So
how
does
an
aspiring
star
walker
get
started?
It
doesn’t
take
much
more
than
a
sturdy
pair
of
boots.
While
telescopes
and
binoculars
obviously
have
their
uses,
people
are
encouraged
to
start
with
naked-eye
stargazing.
Using
only
the
eyes
allows
one
to
get
lost
in
the
infinite
expanse
of
space
and
lets
the
mind
go.
It
is
advised
that
one
read
up
on
the
night
sky
before
heading
out.
Free
mobile
apps,
such
as?Star

can
help

In
the?United

national
parks
are
great
options
for
inexperienced
night
hikers.
Many
offer
guided
outings
that
explain
the
importance
of
protecting
night
skies.
Those
with
a
good
number
of
walks
under
their
belt
may
want
to
try?Glacier

Park?in?Montana.
If
national
parks
and
other

designated
areas
are
out

local

clubs
and

for

like

At
the
end
of
the
day,
the
best
advice
is
to
take
it
slow
and
enjoy
the
journey.
“With
all
of
the
chaos(混乱)that’s
happening
around
us,
the
one
constant
has
been
the
night
sky,”
explains
Douglas,
who
has
been
exploring
popular
places
nearby,
long
after
the
crowds
have
gone
home
for
the
day.
“Walking
is
quite
a
mindful
way
of
looking
up
and
being
reminded
that,
although
everything
feels
so
different,
some
things
are
still
the
same.”
38.
According
to
the
passage,
star
walking
refers
to
________.
A.
going
to
an
observatory
B.
looking
at
stars
in
mountains
C.
combining
hiking
and
stargazing
D.
setting
up
a

39.
One
of
the
reasons
why
people
go
on
a
star
walking
is
that
_______.
A.
it’s
easier
to
identify
celestial
bodies
B.
it
is
good
for
physical
and
mental
health
C.
they
can
enjoy
the
journey
without
crowds
D.
they
can
raise
awareness
of
protecting

40.
According
to
the
passage,
a
star
walking
beginner
is
advised
to
_______.
A.
prepare
a
pair
of
strong
boots
B.

C.
join
an
astronomy
club
or
an
observatory
D.

guided
outings
with
the
help
of

41.
The
main
purpose
of
the
passage
is
to
________.
A.
excite
people’s
interest
in
star
walking
B.
recommend
some
places
for
star
walking
C.
explain
the

benefits
of

D.

D
In
the
natural
habitat,
a
binge-watcher
is
a
strange
sub-species
of?modern
human
beings.
They
are
alone
and
are
often
found
lying
on
their
bed
or
sofa,
still
as
a
rock,
looking
searchingly
into
their
laptop
or
at
the
TV.
They
rarely
get
up,
only
taking
occasional
breaks
for
those
urgent
calls
of
nature.
Unlike
so
many
others
of
their
species,
they
don’t
sleep
at
the
end
of
every
day.
They
stay
up
late
and
are
often
found
to
have
red
eyes.
This,
of
course,
is
a
little
bit
exaggerated(夸张),
but
for
many
of
us,?binge-watching
a
show
is
how
we
consume
our
entertainment.
With
streaming
services
bringing
seemingly
endless
content
to
the
tips
of
our
finger,
creators
tailor
their
shows
to
our
needs
and
tastes,
while
their
marketing
team
sells
it
to
us
as
the
next
most
bingeable?show.
I
can’t
help
but
wonder
if
this
way
of
consuming
television
does
us
any
good.
We’re
advised
to
get
7
to
8
hours
of
sleep
per
day,
but
staying
up
all
night
to
finish
shows
like
‘Breaking
Bad’
and
‘The
Fall’,
which
Netflix
says
are
binged
the
fastest,
won’t
result
in
8
hours
of
uninterrupted
sleep.
Netflix’s
CEO
Richard
Hastings
told
analysts
at
a
conference,
“Think
about
it…
when
you
watch
a
show
from
Netflix
and
you
get
addicted
to
it,
you
stay
up
late
at
night.
We’re
competing
with
sleep.”
And
it
isn’t
only
the
amount
of
sleep
we
get;
the
quality
matters
too!
A?study?published
in
the
Journal
for
Clinical
Sleep
Medicine
reported
that
those
who
binged
television
more
often
were
found
to
have
poorer
sleep
quality.
The
mental
arousal
we
get
from
watching
TV
doesn’t
lend
itself
to
peaceful
sleep.
Besides,
binging
TV
can
cause
weight
gain.
For
every
extra
hour
of
TV
watched,
there
was
a
2%
increase
in
the
prevalence
of
obesity(肥胖),
according
to
a?study
conducted
by
Harvard
that
linked
TV
watching
to
obesity
in
children
and
adolescents.
While
it
is
true
that
there’s
growing
evidence
that
binging
isn’t
good
for
us,
the
results
aren’t
all
hopeless.
Binging,?occasionally,
might
have
some
benefits.
For
many
people,
binging
is
a
good
way
to
socialize.
It
gives
people
something
to
talk
about
at
parties
and
with
their
friends.
Fans
of
popular
shows
often
hold
viewing
parties
where
people
can
binge-watch
shows
together
and
then
discuss
what
they
just
experienced!
This
interaction
can
create
a
sense
of
community
for
many.
For
others,
binging
might
just
be
relaxing.
After
a
long
day,
a
few
hours
of
Friends—still
one
of
the
most
popular
shows
on
any
streaming
platform—can
ease
the
stress
of
a
long
day.
A?study?followed
240
people
through
their
binging
and
recorded
their
stress
hormones.
They
noted
for
some
people
that
their
stress
hormone
levels
decreased
during
their
binging
experience.
With
binging,
there
is
not
a
“good”
or
“bad”
answer.
Like
many
things,
the
key
is
moderation.
Watching
TV
can
be
relaxing,
but
only
if
it
doesn’t
stop
you
from
exercising,
taking
care
of
your
health,
and
fulfilling
your
social
responsibilities.
42.
What

the
underlined
word

in
Paragraph

probably
mean?
A.
Study.
B.
Sell.
C.

D.

43.
What
can
we
learn
from
the
passage?
A.
The
amount
of
sleep
matters
more
than
the
quality.
B.
There’s
no
real
harm
in
binge-watching
a
TV
series.
C.
Binging
may
help
keep

hormone
levels
stable.
D.
Binge-watching
may

As
online
learning
becomes
more
common
and
more
resources
are
changed
to
digital
form,
some
people
have
suggested
that
public
libraries
should
be
shut
down
and
everyone
should
be
given
a
tablet.
Supporters
of
this
idea
state
that
it
will
save
local
cities
and
towns
money
because
libraries
are
expensive
to
maintain.
They
also
believe
it
will
encourage
more
people
to
read
because
they
can
simply
click
on
what
they
want
to
read
wherever
they
are.
However,
it
would
be
a
serious
mistake
to
replace
libraries
with
tablets.
Digital
books
and
resources
are
associated
with
less
learning
and
more
problems
than
print
resources.
A
study
done
on
tablet
vs.
book
reading
found
that
people
read
20-30%
slower
on
tablets,
remember
20%
less
information,
and
understand
10%
less
of
what
they
read,
compared
to
people
who
read
the
same
information
in
print.
Additionally,
staring
too
long
at
a
screen
has
been
shown
to
cause
health
problems,
including
blurred
vision,
dizziness,
dry
eyes
and
headaches,
at
much
higher
instances
than
reading
print
does.
We
should
not
add
to
these
problems
by
giving
people,
especially
young
people,
more
reasons
to
look
at
screens.
It
is
incredibly
narrow-minded
to
assume
that
the
only
service
libraries
offer
is
book
lending.
Libraries
have
a
lot
of
benefits,
and
many
are
only
available
if
the
library
has
a
physical
location.
Some
of
these
benefits
include
acting
as
a
quiet
study
space,
giving
people
a
way
to
talk
to
their
neighbors,
holding
classes
on
a
variety
of
topics,
providing
jobs,
answering
questions,
and
keeping
the
community
connected.
One
neighborhood
found
that,
after
a
local
library
instituted
community
events
such
as
play
times
for
kids
and
parents,
job
fairs
for
teenagers,
and
meeting
spaces
for
senior
citizens,
over
a
third
of
residents
reported
feeling
more
connected
to
their
community.
Therefore,
people
see
libraries
as
a
way
to
connect
with
others
and
get
their
questions
answered,
which
are
benefits
that
tablets
can’t
offer
as
well
or
as
easily.
While
replacing
libraries
with
tablets
may
seem
like
a
simple
solution,
it
would
encourage
people
to
spend
even
more
time
looking
at
digital
screens,
despite
the
many
issues
surrounding
them.
It
would
also
end
access
to
many
library
benefits
that
people
have
come
to
rely
on.
In
many
areas,
libraries
are
such
an
important
part
of
the
community
network
that
they
could
never
be
replaced
by
a
simple
object.

reading

more

to
read?
