1. 指示代词this、that作主语时，be动词和后面的名词均用单数形式；指示代词these、those作主语时，be动词和后面的名词均用复数形式。
This is a map and those are books. 这是一幅地图，那些是书。

—They are oranges. 它们是橙子。
2. 回答主语是 this 或 that 的疑问句时，在答语中常用 it 来代替问句中的 this 或 that ; 回答主语是 these 或 those 的问句时，在答语中常用 they 来代替问句中的 these 或 those。

指示代词使用时的注意事项
1. 在介绍某人时，用this、that、these 或 those 而不用he、she 或 they。
Tom, this is my sister, Alice. 汤姆，这是我的妹妹艾丽丝。
These are my good friends. 这些是我的好朋友。
2. 在电话用语中，常用 this 指自己，that 指对方。
—Who is that? 你是谁？
—This is Kate speaking. 我是凯特。
【特别提醒】this、that、these、those 也可作限定词修饰名词，此时名词前不能用冠词或形容词性物主代词。
That bike is black. 那辆自行车是黑色的。
These flowers are beautiful. 这些花儿很漂亮。
This picture is Sally’s. = This is Sally’s picture. 这是萨莉的照片。
指示代词的句型转换
1. 一个句子中，如果主语是“this/that/these/those+名词”，则该句子常可变换成指示代词作主语的句子。
Those dogs are my cousin’s. = Those are my cousin’s dogs. 那些是我堂哥的狗。
This is a cat.（变为复数句）
2. 单数句变复数句的规则：
this变these，that变those；
be动词is变成are；
可数名词单数变为复数；
不定冠词 a/an 要去掉。
These are cats.
That is an eraser.（变为复数句）
Those are erasers.

He’s my father.
Who’re they?
They’re my grandparents.
1) who是疑问代词，意为“谁”，常用在句首引导特殊疑问句，对人进行提问。
2) 上述三个特殊疑问句都是由“Who+be动词+主语?”构成的。
3) 主语是单数时，be动词用is；主语是复数时，be动词用are。
—Who are the two girls? 那两个女孩是谁？
—They’re Mary and Linda. 她们是玛丽和琳达。
—Who is that boy? 那个男孩是谁？
—He is my brother. 他是我的哥哥。
