Like
most senior high school students in China, 17-year-old Liu Yu, from Yantai
Development Zone Senior High School, Shandong, had planned to resume her
studies earlier this year to prepare for the upcoming gaokao.
However,
the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced in late January that the spring term
for all schools would be put off due to the novel coronavirus pneumonia
outbreak, forcing students like Liu to stay at home.
Rather
than falling behind their original plan, Liu and many others have already begun
studying full-time again – only from home – in what may have become the largest
online teaching trial the country has ever seen.
To
go with students' new learning environment, a "cloud platform" was
launched on Feb 17 to provide students in elementary and secondary schools with
education resources covering all major school subjects, noted Lü Yugang, head
of the ministry's Department of Basic Education. "Students will be able to
attend classes online or study via television," he told China Daily.
For
students in remote or rural areas with poor internet accessibility (获取), a television channel by
China Education Television started airing classes on Feb 17 so they can study
at home, Xinhua News Agency reported.
But
the online platform and TV channel don't just offer school knowledge. Students
can also learn about epidemic (流行病)
prevention and control tips during the period, and receive education on
patriotism, life and psychological health, according to a guideline issued by
the MOE.
For
some students, the chance to study from home has had some unexpected benefits. Yuan
Siyi, who lives in Hubei province, used to get up before 6 am on school days,
but since starting online courses, she gets more hours of sleep each morning.
"I like online teaching because I have more freedom at home," Yuan,
who began her all-day courses on Feb 3, told TEENS.
However,
online teaching and learning has its weaknesses compared to studying in a
physical classroom. "My motivation to study is stronger when my classmates
are around me and all working very hard," Yuan said. According to the MOE,
online courses are only temporary measures taken during the epidemic." When
the new term begins, schools will not replace classroom teaching with online
classes," Lü added.
(1)Why didn't Liu Yu back to school earlier this year as scheduled
A.Because the novel coronavirus pneumonia broke out.
B.Because she was forced to stay at home by her parents.
C.Because the largest online teaching trial was carried out.
D.Because she wanted to prepare for the upcoming gaokao at home.
(2)What do we know about student's online study
A.Students' motivation to online study is certainly stronger.
B.Students may enjoy more freedom to study thanks to the airing classes.
C.Students are able to attend airing classes on the Internet instead of television.
D.Students are provided with education resources of some major subjects by the "cloud platform".
(3)What is the best title of the passage
A.Benefits of online learning B.A "cloud platform"

Can
ducks help solve the problem of locust (蝗虫)
That is a question being asked in Southern Asia Like the region of East
Africa, the nation of Pakistan is trying to keep masses of locusts from eating
the country's crops.
But
while the insect invasion in Africa has been blamed on weather, experts say the
one in Pakistan is a side effect of a civil war in the Middle Eastern country
of Yemen. Because of that war, officials haven't been able to do enough pest
control to keep Yemen's locust population from growing, so the insects
obviously multiplied and made their way north east eventually landing on
Pakistan.
Locusts
don't directly attack people. They threaten us by eating our crops. And so many
of these insects in such large numbers can destroy regional food supplies.
That's why Pakistan declared (宣布) a
state of emergency early this month, saying it was dealing with the highest
number of locusts in more than 20 years. So what can be done about it Some
experts say pesticides are needed to kill masses of these insects, but there's
another idea being considered in China. It may send ducks to Pakistan --as many
as 100,000 of them-- to fight the locusts by eating them. An expert interviewed
by the Bloomberg media company says one duck can eat more than 200 locusts per
day, and China has reportedly used ducks to successfully solve a locust problem
in the past. But not everyone is on board with this. A member of China's
delegation (代表团) to
Pakistan says there's not enough water in Pakistan's hot dry climate to keep
the ducks going. Whatever methods are used to control locusts in Asia the
situation in Africa is getting more hopeless by the day.
(1)According to the paragraph 2, what caused the locust outbreak in Pakistan?
A.There are no natural enemies to eat locusts.
B.The civil war of Yemen affected pest control.
C.The government of Yemen didn't do any pest control.
D.The weather in Pakistan caused the increase of locusts.
(2)What harmful effect will masses of locusts bring about
A.Destroying crops.
B.Changing the weather.
C.Tensing international relations.
D.Directly threatening human security.
(3)Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase in paragraph 3
A.Asks for B.Relys on C.Agrees on D.Thinks about
【答案】(1)B
(2)A
(3)C

根据第二段中的“ experts say the one in Pakistan is a side effect of a civil war in the Middle Eastern country of Yemen. Because of that war, officials haven't been able to do enough pest control to keep Yemen's locust population from growing,“专家表示,巴基斯坦的这次蝗虫袭击是中东国家也门内战的副作用。由于这场战争,官员们没有能够做足够的害虫控制来阻止也门蝗虫数量的增长。可知,也门的内战影响了害虫的控制,这导致了巴基斯坦蝗虫灾害的爆发。故选B。
(2)考查细节理解。根据第三段中的“Locusts don't directly attack people. They threaten us by eating our crops. And so many of these insects in such large numbers can destroy regional food supplies.” 故选A。
根据最后一段中的“An expert interviewed by the Bloomberg media company says one duck can eat more than 200 locusts per day, and China has reportedly used ducks to successfully solve a locust problem in the past.”彭博媒体公司采访的一个专家说,一只鸭子一天可以吃超过200只蝗虫,而且中国过去成功地用鸭子解决蝗虫问题;以及“A member of China's delegation(代表团)to Pakistan says there's not enough water in Pakistan's hot dry climate to keep the ducks going.“中国驻巴基斯坦代表团的一名成员表示,巴基斯坦炎热干燥的气候中没有足够的水来让这些鸭子生存。可知,此处划线短语“ is on board with”意为“同意”,即划线部分所在句子表示“不是所有人都同意用鸭子解决蝗虫问题这个观点”。故选C。

3.(2020高一下·萧山期中)阅读理解
If
you've visited a museum, you've seen it. Maybe you've even done it - taken a
picture of yourself with a piece of art. Perhaps it's because you love the
painting or sculpture, or maybe it was just a famous piece of art and you
wanted to share with the world that you'd seen it in person. But the majority
of museums forbid photography at the museum.
The
reasons for banning photography vary. Some museums have pieces lent to them
that aren't allowed to be photographed according to the owner's wishes, like
most of the exhibits at The Tate in London. Others are concerned about what
camera flashes will do to the art; bright lights can damage certain paints. Some
want to preserve a certain atmosphere. Sir John Soane's Museum, a small museum
in London, states that it bans photography to “maintain the unique, magical
atmosphere inside."
For
other museums, the "no photography" rule is based on observed
behavior that seems to fly against the idea of what the museum is for:
"Personally, what I've noticed is that people spend more time taking
pictures than looking at pieces of art," said Benoit Parayre, the director
of communications at the Center Pompidou in Paris. "They take a picture,
and don't even stop in front of the paintings."
For
most museums, it's purely practical. People taking selfies (自拍照) are more concerned
with getting their shot than paying attention to where their bodies are, some
nearly backing into objects," complained Heidi Rosenau, the Frick's
communication director. What's worse, in a busy museum, people taking photos
with the art causes traffic-flow issues. Sure, some people only take a quick
shot, but we all have a friend or two who spends minutes getting the
"perfect" photo - now just imagine them in a museum blocking people
from seeing famous works of art that they've spent time and money to come and
see.
A
selfie can be fun and harmless, but it can also be rude and get in the way of
other people's experiences.
(1)What do we learn from the first paragraph
A.Visitors can copy a famous piece of art.
B.Most visitors carry cameras in the museum.
C.Most exhibits of art are borrowed from others.
D.Taking pictures is not allowed in most museums.
(2)The Tate in London bans photography with the purpose of_________.
A.ensuring safety B.preserving art works
C.maintaining an atmosphere D.following the owner's wishes
(3)Heidi Rosenau thinks that_________.
A.selfies takers may block others
B.selfies takers may steal the art pieces
C.selfies takers may damage the art works
D.selfies takers can better enjoy art exhibits
(4)What's the writer's attitude toward selfie
A.Supportive. B.Neutral. C.Critical. D.Negative.
【答案】(1)D
(2)D
(3)A
(4)C

根据第一段中的“But the majority of museums forbid photography at the museum.”
根据第二段中的“Some museums have pieces lent to them that aren't allowed to be photographed according to the owner's wishes, like most of the exhibits at The Tate in London.“有些博物馆根据主人的意愿,借给他们一些不允许拍照的物品,比如伦敦泰特美术馆的大多数展品。可知伦敦泰特美术馆的大多数展品禁止拍照是根据主人的意愿,故选D。
(3)考查推理判断。根据第四段中的“What's worse, in a busy museum, people taking photos with the art causes traffic-flow issues.”
根据最后一段“A selfie can be fun and harmless, but it can also be rude and get in the way of other people's experiences.”

My
grandfather was a house (paint).
Once, when in college, I helped Grandpa paint a house. While working inside, I
noticed he was very skilled at giving a wall a quality coat of paint so quickly.
fact, during the time that
he was painting, he could carry on a conversation with the home owner, (laugh) all the time.
At
one point, he stopped to watch me. He noticed how I (dip) the brush in the paint bucket(桶) and how I carefully
wiped off both sides of the brush as I pulled it out not to waste any paint. Then
I spread the thin coat of paint on the wall without spilling(溢出)a drop. It was a long,
(bore) process, but I
dared not laugh or have a kidding for fear of making mess. Finally, he gave me some (suggest). "Here, watch this,"
he said, as he took the brush from my hand. "See, this is how you did it. Don't
worry about spills and messes. They can always (clean) up. Treat a wall like you
treat people. Be generous and have fun. Always put together paint on the brush."
Yes, he did spill a few drops, but I noticed his wall looked much (good) than mine. I also noticed he was having
great fun.
Life
is not always perfect. Some days, we spill few drops; some days, we spill a lot.
The only thing that really matters is the wall looks like when we are
done and how much fun we have painting it.
【答案】painter;In;laughing;dipped;boring;a;suggestions;be cleaned;better;what
make a mess固定短语,“一团糟”,故填a。

Paragraph 2:
A
closer relationship was formed between Pocho and Chito.
Chito awoke the next morning, and walked outside. To his surprise, a crocodile was sleeping in his backyard. He recognized it at the first sight: it was Pocho. This crocodile had swum down the river and followed him home quietly. It seemed to Chito that Pocho had made its choice. It wanted to live with the man who had saved its life. Chito felt an unspeakable feeling that resonated in the heart of a father as he looked upon Pocho.
Paragraph 2:
A closer relationship was formed between Pocho and Chito. They are inseparable now. Every day Chito wades into the chest-deep water in his little lake and calls out to his friend, who appears from beneath the muddy depths to roll about and play with its keeper, and then Chito would kiss it. Pocho can understand Chito gradually. The unique friendship has drawn the attention of tourists from around the world; more and more tourists come into town and visit Chito and Pocho. In order to welcome guests, they have performed a weekly act in his own backyard before hundreds of tourists.

Like
most senior high school students in China, 17-year-old Liu Yu, from Yantai
C.Stay in studying D.Epidemic outbreak

Can
ducks help solve the problem of locust (蝗虫)

If
you've visited a museum, you've seen it.
B.Neutral. C.Critical. D.Negative.

health care is a big part of keeping citizens fit. "In fact," says
Montage Health, a non-profit health entity, "Our greatest dream is to keep

we have some work to do. No matter where we live, say experts, we can gain big

Eat
green every day. There are some kinds of food people must eat every day. For
example, people must eat some green." Green" includes dark-green
leafy vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, romaine, kale, collard, turnip and
mustard greens. Raw or cooked, either is fine.
Health
experts say that some activities (at least 10 minutes at a time) are better
than none. And regular-physical activity is one of the most important things we
can do to improve our health, according to the latest research summarized in
