point; point at;point to
point作名词时,意为“点;分数”。如:It’s four point two three. 这是4.23。
point作动词时,意为“指;指向”,常与at和to连用,都可意为“指”,但二者用法不同:
point at表示指向离说话人较近的事物,意为“指着”,着重于指的对象。如:
“He found it,” she said, pointing at me. “他找到它的。”她指着我说。
point to多用来表示指向离说话人较远的事物,意为“指向”,着重于指的方向。如:
He pointed to the north. 他指向北方。
point at可分开使用,意为“对准;瞄准”。此时point后直接接名词或代词作宾语,而point to没有这种用法。如:He pointed his book at her sister. 他用书指着他的姐姐。
trip; travel
trip和travel都可意为“旅行”。
trip一般指短距离的旅行。如:
Have a good trip. 祝你旅途愉快。
travel作不可数名词时,意为“旅行;旅游”,也可以用作复数名词,主要指时间较长的各地旅行,通常有物主代词修饰,但不能与 many 或数词连用。travel只泛指旅行,而不特指某次具体的旅行。如:

come, go, move, begin, start等动词的现在进行时态常用来表示即将发生的事。如:

2. 【课本要点】 You’d better take a camera, a pair of sunglasses, a map and so on. (Section B) 你最好带上一部照相机、一副太阳镜、一张地图等。
【精彩点拨】 had better常缩写为’d better,意为“最好”,用于提建议。使用该词应注意:
(1) had better没有人称和数的变化,后面应接动词原形。如:
You’d better ask him again. 你最好再问他一下。
He’d better stay at home today. 他今天最好待在家。
(2) had better的否定形式是在better后加上not。如:
We’d better not tell him about that. 我们最好不要告诉他那件事。
3. 【课本要点】 In Japan, when you enter someone’s home, you should take off your shoes. (Section C) 在日本,你进某个人的家时,应该脱下鞋子。

1. 【病历单】 What are they talking
【诊断书】 talk意为“谈论”,后接名词或代词时,要接介词about。此句中的what作talk的宾语,故talk后要加介词about。如:We are talking about a new film. 我们在谈论一部新电影。

【诊断书】 此句go to中的to应该去掉,因为副词where前不需要加介词。
3. 【病历单】 Jim, can you tell me anything about your school life
【诊断书】 此句中的anything应该改为something。因为在表示请求或者表示建议时, 应用something,而不用anything。

【诊断书】 去掉the。因为在地点名词前不需要加冠词。

hope 和wish均可作动词和名词,意为愿望, 因此常常译为“希望”。 wish 一般侧重于表达不大可能实现或根本不考虑是否可能实现的愿望,因此常常译为“愿望”。 下面来分析一下它们的异同点。
★相同点:
1. 表示“想、希望”,均可接动词不定式作宾语。如:
I hope/ wish to come tomorrow. 我希望/但愿明天能来。
2. 均可与for 连用。如:
Let’s hope for the best. 让我们尽量往好处想。
He wishes for a dictionary. 他想得到一本词典。
★ 不同点:
1. hope 后面接宾语从句, 常常表示很有把握实现的愿望。wish后面接宾语从句,常常表示一种无法实现的或不真实的愿望。
如: I hope she won’t come this evening. 我希望她今晚别来。
I wish I could fly to the moon. 我真想飞上月球。
2. hope 后不能跟动词不定式(短语)作宾补。wish 可以,形成了wish sb. to do sth.结构。
如: The teacher wishes his students to come here. 这位老师希望他的学生们来这里。
3. wish可以有wish sb. + adj.结构,而hope则没有此结构。如:
I wish you happy. 我祝你们幸福。
4. 作简略回答时,hope 后可以用替代词so或not,而wish则不可以。如:
—Will it be sunny tomorrow 明天会是晴天吗?
—I hope so. 我希望是。/I hope not.我希望不是。
5. 作名词时,hope多用于“希望”。wish多用于“祝愿语”,且多用复数形式。
如:He didn’t give up his hope. 他没有放弃希望。
