The
Hitchhiker’
s
Guide
to
the
Galaxy?(HG2G)
by
Douglas
Adams
This
is
a
comedy
science-fiction
series
about
a
man’s
adventures
in
space.
It
was
initially
a
radio
comedy
broadcast
on
BBC
Radio
4.
It
is
extremely
funny
and
inventive,
and
has
a
very
British
sense
of
humor,
whose
true
meanings
foreign
readers
can
hardly
make
out
though
it
has
been
translated
into
French
and
Italian
and
so
on.
But
when
I
read
it
I
feel
a
strong
connection
to
my
home.
It
was
published
in
paperback
by
Pan
Books,
after
BBC
Publishing
had
turned
down
the
offer
of
publishing
a
novelization,
an
action
they
later
regretted.
The
Secret
Garden?by
Frances
Hodgson
Burnett
Have
you
ever
read
a
description
of
a
landscape
or
countryside
that
made
you
feel
like
you
were
actually
there?
For
me,
this
book
does
exactly
that.
It
is
about
a
young
girl
who
is
taken
to
live
in
a
big
house
in
my
hometown
and
discovers
a
secret
garden.
Daddy-Long-Legs?by
Jean
Webster
This
book
takes
the
form
of
a
series
of
letters,
and
follows
the
story
of
a
young
orphan(孤儿),
Judy,
as
she
goes
to
university
and
discovers
a
whole
world
of
new
experiences.
This
book
always
reminds
me
of
my
family,
especially
my
mother,
because
she
used
to
read
it
to
me
when
I
was
ill
in
bed.
The
Railway
Children?by
E.
Nesbit
This
was
one
of
my
favorite
books
when
I
was
younger,
and
for
this
reason
it
still
strongly
reminds
me
of
England
and
my
childhood.
It
is
also
set
in
Yorkshire
where
I
was
born
and
spent
my
childhood,
and
follows
three
children
living
next
to
a
railway
and
their
adventures.?
21.
What
do
we
know
about?HG2G?
A.
It
was
based
on
true
adventures.
B.
Its
language
is
abstract
and
inventive.
C.
It
was
adapted
for
radio
after
being
published.?
D.
Its
humor
is
hard
for
foreigners
to
understand.
22.
Which
books
are
set
in
the
same
place?
A.?Daddy-Long-Legs
&
HG2G.??
B.?The
Secret
Garden
&
The
Railway
Children.
C.?The
Secret
Garden
&
HG2G.??
D.?Daddy
Long
Legs
&
The
Railway
Children.
23.
What
do
all
the
books
have
in
common?
A.
They
follow
children’s
adventures.
B.
They
are
British
countryside
series.
C.
They
refer
to
the
author’s
childhood.
D.
They
bring
memories
of
home
to
the
author.
B
?
?What
do
you
do
with
money?
Do
you
spend
it
or
save
it?
Do
you
get
pocket
money
from
your
parents
or
do
you
work
to
earn
money?
Pocket
money
?
?Most
teenagers
in
Britain
receive
pocket
money
from
their
parents.
They
might
have
to
do
chores
to
get
their
pocket
money,
helping
at
home
with
tasks
like
cleaning,
cooking,
washing
up,
taking
out
the
rubbish
and
ironing.
?
?Different
families
give
different
amounts
and
the
average
for
eight-to-fifteen-year-olds
in
the
UK
is
about
£6
(53
yuan)
a
week.
A
report
found
that
many
children
save
at
least
a
quarter
of
their
weekly
pocket
money
and
that
more
boys
than
girls
save
their
money.
Part-time
work
?
?A
part-time
job
is
an
option
for
teenagers
who
don’t
have
pocket
money
or
who
want
to
earn
extra
money.
About
15
percent
of
teenagers
have
a
job.
Only
children
over
13
can
work
but
there
are
some
exceptions,
for
example,
for
actors.
Popular
part-time
jobs
for
teens
include
babysitting,
delivering
newspapers,
shop
work
and
restaurant
or
café
work.
?
??There
are
strict
government
laws
about
children
working.
They
can
work
a
maximum
of
two
hours
a
day
on
a
school
day
but
not
during
school
hours.
At
weekends
and
during
school
holidays,
they
can
work
longer
hours.
As
for
wages,
the
national
minimum
wage
for
under-18s
is
around
£4
per
hour
and
it
increases
every
year.
Its
minimum
wage
is
higher
if
you
are
older.
Banks
?
?In
Britain,
some
children
and
teenagers
have
a
bank
account.
There
is
no
legal
(法定的)
age
limit
at
which
you
can
open
a
bank
account,
but
a
bank
manager
can
decide
whether
to
allow
a
child
or
young
person
to
open
an
account.
Parents
can
put
pocket
money
directly
into
their
child’s
bank
account.
?
?So,
many
teenagers
are
getting
experience
of
working
part-time,
dealing
with
banks
and
deciding
whether
to
save
or
spend
their
money.
These
are
all
steps
towards
becoming
a
financially
independent
adult
and
earning
and
looking
after
your
own
money.
24.
What
do
we
know
about
the
pocket
money
children
in
Britain
receive?
A.
8-
to
15-year-olds
get
about
?6
a
month
as
their
pocket
money.
B.
Many
children
save
over
25
percent
of
their
pocket
money.
C.
Girls
prefer
to
save
more
pocket
money
than
boys.
D.
Pocket
money
can
only
be
earned
at
home.
25.
What
did
we
learn

jobs
in
Britain?

working
part-time

15
years
old.
B.
Children
should
work
no
more
than
two
hours
each
day.
C.
Children
are
not
allowed
to
work
during
school
hours.
D.
Those
under-18s
can
earn
at
least
?4
per
hour.
26.
What
is
required
for
a
teenager
to
open
a
bank
account?
A.
Reaching
the
age
of
13.????

bank
manager’s
permission.
C.
A
parent’s
permission.????
D.
Having
a
minimum
amount
of
money.
27.
What
is
the
last
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.
Some
tips
for
teenagers
to
look
after
their
own
money.

Challenges
facing
teenagers
to
manage
their
pocket
money.

What
teenagers
should
do
to

Google
says
it
will
no
longer
permit
its
artificial
intelligence,
or
AI
technology
to
be
used
in
any
activities
involving
weapons.?The
policy
was
one
of
several
new
principles
aimed
at
guiding
the
company’s
development
and
sale
of
AI
technology
and
tools.
The
principles
were
announced
after
more
than
4,000
Google
employees
signed
a
document
calling
for
the
company
to
cancel
an
AI
agreement,
known
as
Project
Maven,
with
the
U.S.
Department
of
Defense.
Kirk
Hanson
is
director
of
the
Markkula
Center
for
Applied
Ethics
at
Santa
Clara
University
in
California.
The
center
examines
how?ethics?can
be
used
as
guidelines
for
technology
development.
He
decided
that
the
protest
by
Google
employees
against
the
U.S.
military
agreement
was
based
on
fears
that
AI
technology
could
lead
to
the
creation
of
weapons
which
might
cause
disasters
to
humans.
“If
you
have
artificial
intelligence
which
identifies
targets
and
automatically
launches
weapons,
you
have
an
autonomous
weapon.
Just
as
with
driverless
vehicles,
autonomous
weapon
systems
may
not
be
as
safe
as
their
supporters
promise.
We
should
be
more
concerned
about
how
an
autonomous
weapon
might
make
a
mistake.
Is
that
artificial
intelligence
targeting
system
as
good
as
we
think
it
is?
And
until
we
have
trust
that
those
systems
will
not
make
mistakes,
we’re
going
to
keep
skeptical
about
the
use
of
artificial
intelligence.”
A
top
Department
of
Defense
official
was
asked
about
the
use
of
autonomous
weapons
during
an
event
last
year
at
the
Center
for
Strategic
and
International
Studies
in
Washington.
Air
Force
Gen.
Paul
J.
Selva,
vice
chairman
of
the
Joint
Chiefs
of
Staff,
said
such
systems
should
never
be
used
to
replace
human
commanders.
Google
chief
Pichai
said
the
company
does
not
plan
to
stop
providing
AI
technology
for
all
military
uses.
He
said
Google
will
still
seek
government
projects
in
areas
such
as
military
training,
Internet
security
and
search
and
rescue.

A
few
years
ago,
my
sister?in?law
started
to
feel
concerned
about
her
teenage
daughter.
What
was
she
doing
after
school?
Where
was
she
spending
her
time?
My
niece
was
an
excellent
student,
and
took
part
in
all
kinds
of
after?class
activities.
Even
so,
her
mom
decided
to
put
a
tracking
app
(跟踪应用程序)
on
the
kid's
phone.
At
first,
this
made
my
sister?in?law
“feel
better”.
Then
the
good
situation
suddenly
ended.
She
recalled,
“I
found
out
that
she
was
someplace
that
she
said
she
wasn't.
I
went
out
in
the
middle
of
the
night
and
found
her
walking
without
shoes
in
the
middle
of
the
street
with
some
friends.
”
Things
went
quickly
downhill
for
the
mother
and
the
daughter
after
that.
With
73%
of
teens
having
their
own
smartphones
now,
more
and
more
of
their
parents
are
facing
the
question:
To
watch
or
not?
Ana
Homayoun,
founder
of
Green
Ivy
Educational
Consulting,
has
advised
many
parents
and
their
kids
about
this.
“I've
found
teens
are
more
acceptable
to
tracking
apps
when
it
is
included
as
part
of
a
family
agreement
to
improve
safety
than
when
it
is
placed
as
a
secret
tool
to
watch
them,
”she
said.
Mark
Bell,
a
father
of
a
teenage
girl,
said,
“We
don't
have
tracking
apps,
but
we
have
set
some
ground
rules
that
my
daughter
must
follow
in
exchange
for
us
providing
a
smartphone,”he
said.
For
example,
his
daughter
must
“friend”
him
on
social
media
so
that
he
can
read
posts,
and
must
share
all
passwords.
When
you're
trying
to
build
trust,
you
need
to
create
an
environment
that
encourages
it.
So,
to
win
their
trust,
you
always
need
to
be
straight
with
your
children.
“Parents
must
let
children
know
how
and
when
they'll
be
watching
them,
”said
Doctor
Pauleh
Weigle.
If
they're
not
open
about
it,
he
warns,
it
can
“greatly
damage
the
parent
and
child
relationship”.
32.What's
the
result
of

author's

the
app?

felt
good
with
knowing
her
daughter's
after?school
activities.
B.She
wasn't
worried
about
her
daughter

with
her
daughter.

with
her
daughter.

Homayoun?

secretly
with
tracking
apps.

the

tracking
apps.

第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
What
makes
people
successful?
Take
a
look
around
and
talk
to
your
friends
and
seniors
who
are
very
successful,
you
will
see
all
of
them
have
adopted
certain
values
which
have
proved
important
for
their
success.
It
is
evident
that
successful
people
take
initiative
(主动性).
When
they
find
something
needs
to
be
done,
they
never
hesitate
to
do
it.
__36__
They
weigh
immediately
what
has
to
be
done
and
then
do
it
with
pleasure,
thus
strengthening
their
reputation.
Successful
people
do
things
with
great
enthusiasm,
especially
when
they
believe
in
what
they
are
doing.
They
are
motivated
by
their
own
satisfaction
and
the
joy
they
get
from
doing
their
work.
__37__
They
do
not
fear
failure.
Failures
and
disappointments
in
life
are
unavoidable.
__38__.
Successful
people
pick
themselves
up
after
a
fall
and
try
again
with
more
determination
and
commitment
and
learn
from
each
failure.
They
associate
with
those
they
can
learn
from
and
enjoy
the
company
of
those
appreciating
their
achievement.
Having
a
good
IQ
often
gets
a
person
what
he
wants
but
it's
really
the
EQ
that
keeps
him
there
and
helps
him
enjoy
a
high
reputation.
__39__
By
giving
respect
to
others,
they
command
respect
for
themselves.
__40__.
It's
better
to
praise
others
and
win
favor
with
them.
So
instead
of
complaining
about
a
situation,
successful
people
always
try
to
solve
it.-
A.Successful
people
never
complain.
B.Successful
persons
don't
make
excuses.
C.They
work
hard
even
when
no
one
is
watching.
D.They
believe
that
responsibility
is
taken,
not
given.
E.It's
failure
that
teaches
us
much
more
than
success.
F.It's
hard
to
be
successful
if
you
don't
trust
the
people
around
you.
G.Successful
people
are
polite
to
everyone
and
treat
others
with
respect.

3.
My
topic
today
is“Say
No
to
smartphones
at
school.”
Although
the
smartphone
plays
an
important
role
in
people's
daily
life,
it
is
also
a
double-edged
sword.
Inappropriate
use
of
it
may
bring
some
downsides
for
us
students.
Some
students
with
a
smartphone
get
so
addicted
that
they
are
hugely
impacted.
First,
smartphones
will
distract
their
attention
in
class,thus,
their
school
work
can
be
seriously
affected.
Besides,some
students
even
use
the
phones
till
late
into
the
night,
which
can
cause
some
health
problems
such
as
bad
eyesight
and
abnormal
sleep
patterns.
Finally,
it
may
compromise
their
face-
to-
face
communication
with
others.
Therefore,I
strongly
advocate
that
students
should
be
prohibited
from
carrying
smartphones.
Let's
say
No
to
smartphones
at
school.
That's
all.
Thank
you
for

When
I

I’m
only
going

M:
Are
you

I
might

W:
I’d
like
to
talk
about
this
watch.
It’s
quite
old,
nearly
sixty
years
old.
It’s
got
a
leather
black
band.
The
face
of
the
watch
is
white
and
it’s
square—well
it
isn’t
telling
the
right
time.
M:
Why
is
this
watch
special,
Helen?
W:
It
was
my
grandfather’s
watch.
He
came
to
England
more
than
fifty
years
ago
and
this
is
the
watch
he
was
wearing
when
he
arrived
here.
When
he
came
over
here
he
didn’t
have
much—just
a
few
pounds
in
his
pocket,
you
know.
But
this
watch
was
a
present
to
him
from
his
grandfather—his
twenty
first
birthday
present—so
it
was
really
special
to
him
and
now
it’s
special
to
me.
M:
Is
it
very
valuable?
I
mean,
I
know
you
don’t
want
to
sell
it
or
anything
but
is
it
worth
a
lot
of
money?
W:
No,
not
at
all.
It
doesn’t
even
tell
the
right
time!
It’s
just
an
ordinary
watch
but
it’s
special
to
me
because
it
really
reminds
me
of
my
grandfather.
M:
Is
your
grandfather
still
alive?
W:
No,
he
isn’t.
He
died
2
years
ago.
He
left
the
watch
to
me
in
his
will.

around.
There
are
over
forty
shows,
as
well
as
plenty
of
other
activities
for
all
the
family.
We
feel
that
it
is
better
that
some
sea
creatures
such
as
whales
and
sharks
aren’t
kept
in
a
sea
park,
because
they
have
better
lives
in
their
natural
homes.
However,
although
you
won’t
see
these
creatures
here,
you
will
learn
about
them
in
many
of
our
interesting
and
educational
shows.
Education
is
important,
but
we
know
that
being
interested
while
finding
things
out
is
more
important,
especially
for
our
younger
visitors.
Our
specially
trained
staff
can
answer
any
of
your
questions
about
the
sea,
sea
life,
pollution
and
protection.
We
also
encourage
school
visits,
and
help
teachers
by
providing
information
and
ideas
for
use
in
the
classroom.
Ocean
Life
is
also
known
for
saving
sea
creatures.
We
offer
care
for
injured
creatures
sent
to
us
and
we
return
them
to
their
natural
homes
when
they
are
strong
enough.
We
also
take
part
in
many
projects
throughout
the
world,
and
it
is
our
aim
to
make
sure
that
our
visitors
become
aware
of
the
problems
and
dangers
that
affect
sea
life.
Ok,
thanks
for
listening
to
me.
