2) Jeremy Lin is a Chinese-American. His parents are from Taiwan. He was born in the US, on August 23, 1988. His Chinese name is Shu-How Lin and his English name is Jeremy. He is 191cm tall and weighs 91kg. He is a Harvard University graduate (毕业生). You don’t see that very often in the NBA. But Lin doesn’t care about these things. “A Harvard degree doesn’t help much in the NBA,” he said. “Just call me a basketball player." “I always wanted to be an NBA player. Now my dream has come true,” Lin says.
3) Lin began to play for the NBA in 2010. For most of the time he was sitting on the bench hoping to play. Some months ago Lin was sitting on the bench after two teams fired him one after another. He lived with his brother in a small flat, worrying that the New York Knicks would cut him, too.
He didn’t give up and he practiced hard, waiting for a chance to show himself. He spent a lot of time practicing passing the ball, blocking the ball and shooting the ball. Now Lin is on his way to playing better basketball. He’s still going strong and is doing a great job. The unknown young man has become a basketball hero and has brought the New York Knicks back to life. On February 5, Lin got 25 points and helped the Knicks beat the New Jersey Nets. On February 7, he got 28 points and helped the Knicks beat the Utah Jazz. He and his team have won seven games out of seven. And has become one of the fastest-rising stars in the NBA and now Knicks fans are calling him “MVP”.
Some people in the US think, “Asian Americans don’t play basketball.” But Jeremy Lin has changed their ideas. He is a point guard (控球后卫).He has helped his team win many important games this year.
He is a humorous man. When people ask him why he can play well, Lin answers: “I think the bench I sat on has magic powers (魔力).” Do you think the bench he sat on has magic powers
ROME was not built in a day. And neither was Jeremy Lin’s story of success. Yao Ming said. "Lin is not very tall, not very strong, and he was cut out by two clubs before finally joining the New York Knicks. To be honest, I didn’t think he would play so well," Yao Ming added.
