There
have
been
many
great
painters
in
the
rich
history
of
Chinese
art.
Here
are
four
of
the
greatest
painters
from
China.
Li
Cheng
(919—967,
Five
Dynasties
and
early
Song
Dynasty)
Li
Cheng
contributed
greatly
to
one
of
the
golden
ages
of
landscape
paintings
in
world
history.
During
his
time,
he
was
considered
the
best
landscape
painter
ever.
He
is
remembered
especially
for
the
winter
landscapes
he
created
and
for
simple
compositions
of
tall,
old
evergreens
set
against
a
dry
landscape.
Several
of
his
paintings
are
in
thin
ink
which
gives
them
a
foggy
appearance.
Fan
Kuan
(990—1020
,
Song
Dynasty)
Fan
Kuan
began
his
career
by
modeling
Li
Cheng's
work
but
later
created
his
own
style,
claiming
that
the
only
true
teacher
was
nature.
His
finest
work
Travelers
among
Mountains
and
Streams
is
a
masterpiece
of
landscape
painting
and
many
future
artists
turned
to
it
for
inspiration.
Qi
Baishi
(1864-1957)
One
of
the
greatest
contemporary
Chinese
painters,
Qi
Baishi
is
known

not
being
influenced
by
Western
styles
like
most
painters
of
his
time.
He
can
be
considered
as
the
last
great
traditional
painter
of
China.
He
painted
almost
everything
from
insects
to
landscapes.
He
is
regarded
highly
in
Chinese
art
for
the
freshness
that
he
brought
to
the
familiar
types
of
birds
and
flowers,
insects
and
grass.
Wu
Guanzhong
(1919—2010)
Widely
considered
as
the
founder
of
modern
Chinese
painting
,
Wu
Guanzhong
has
painted
various
aspects
of
China,
like
its
architecture,
plants,
animals,
people
and
landscapes.
Wu
went
on
to
combine
Western
and
Chinese
styles
to
create
a
unique
form
of
modem
art.
In
1992,
he
became
the
first
living
Chinese
artist
whose
work
was
exhibited
at
the
British
Museum.

They
were
all
pioneers
in
traditional
art
history.
B
You
don't
generally
expect
to
put
yourself
in
the
public
eye
when
you
go
on
vacation.
However,
when
a
British
couple,
Jessica
and
Edward,
flew
to
Crete,
they
found
themselves
attracting
a
lot
of
attention
after
coming
across
a
large
sum
of
money
in
the
street.
At
first,
their
Crete
vacation
hadn't
been
anything
outside
of
the
norm.
However,
it
was
as
they
were
exploring
the
souvenir
shops
that
everything
changed.
The
couple
were
just
walking
down
the
street
when
Jessica
suddenly
kicked
something
lying
on
the
ground.
It
looked
a
bit
like
a
make-up
bag
and
so
they
assumed
that
someone
had
lost
it.
Without
hesitation,
Jessica
picked
up
the
bag
and
opened
it.
She
was
shocked
to
see
a
lot
of
money
in
it-a
total
of
7,100
Euros.
There
was
probably
a
lot
they
could
do
with
all
that
money.
However,
the
couple
didn't
have
it
in
them
to
steal
what
belonged
to
someone
else.
Going
to
the
police
was
the
first
thought
that
came
to
mind
when
Jessica
saw
the
money.
She
didn't
consider
that
there
was
any
other
choice,
so
the
couple
handed
over
the
money
to
the
local
police.
The
police
found
the
owner,
an
elderly
woman,
and
informed
the
couple
that
the
woman
wanted
to
meet
them.
When
they
eventually
met
at
the
police
station,
the
woman
was
so
overcome
with
emotion
that
she
wouldn't
stop
hugging
and
blessing
them,
although
they
insisted
they
were
just
doing
the
right
thing.
News
of
what
the
couple
had
done
quickly
made
its
way
around
the
island.
The
locals
wanted
to
show
them
their
gratitude.
This
included
receiving
free
taxi
rides
and
even
an
offer
to
have
their
hotel
room
upgraded.
The
couple
appreciated
the
kindness,
but
it
was
all
getting
to
be
a
bit
too
much.
They
just
wanted
to
have
a
normal
vacation.
They
are
probably
hoping
that
they
fly
a
little
more
under
the
radar
during
their
next
vacation.
There's
only
so
much
attention
that
these
two
lovebirds
can
handle.
4.
What
is
the
first
reaction
of
the
couple
after
finding
the
money?
A
They
decided
to
do
all
with
that
money.
B.
They
bought
something
in
souvenir
shops.
C.
They
turned
it
over
to
the
local
police
station.
D.
They
tried
to
look
for
the
owner
by
themselves.
5.
Which
o?
the
following
can
best
describe
the
locals
in
Crete?
A.
Polite
and
hard-working.
B.
Kind
and
grateful.
C.
Sociable
and
honest.
D.
Rich
and
determined.
6.
Why
do
the
couple
hope
to
“fly
a
little
more
under
the
radar"
in
the
last
paragraph?
A.
They
want
to
take
fewer
flights.
B.
They
can't
handle
more
radars.
C.
They
hope
to
gain
less
attention.
D.
They
don't
have
more
money.
7.
What
can
we
learn
from
the
text?
A.
Good
things
come
to
kind
people.
B.
The
early
bird
catches
the
worm.
C.
Behind
bad
luck
conies
good
luck.
D.
Money
is
too
much
for
strangers.
C
By
mid-century
there
will
likely
be
9
billion
people
on
the
planet,
using
ever
more
resources
and
leading
ever
more
technologically
complex
lives.
What
will
our
cities
be
like?
How
much
will
artificial
intelligence
(AI)
advance?
Will
global
warming
cause
disastrous
changes,
or
will
we
be
able
to
engineer
our
way
out
of
the
climate
change
issues?
Recently,
the
magazine
Big
Think
asked
top
minds
from
a
variety
of
fields
to
weigh
in
on
what
the
future
holds
40
years
from
now.
The
result
is
as
follows.
It's
likely
that
by
2050
the
majority
of
the
people
in
the
world
will
live
in
urban
areas
and
will
have
a
much
higher
average
age
than
people
today.
Cities
theorist
Richard
thinks
urbanization
will
transform
the
education
system
of,
making
our
economy
less
houses
driven
and
removing
the
divisions
between
home
and
work.
And
rapidly
advancing
technology
will
continue
ever
more
rapidly.
Cities
of
the
future
won't
look
like
“some
sort
of
science-fiction
fantasy”,
but
it's
likely
that
technological
advances
and
information
overlays
(VR
and
AR)
will
greatly
change
how
we
live.
Self-
driving
cars
will
make
the
roads
safer
and
provide
faster
transports.
A
larger
version
of
driverless
cars-driverless
trucks

may
make
long-distance
drivers
out
of
date.
Some
long
view
predictions
are
completely
dire.
Environmentalist
Bill
says
that
if
we
don't
make
great
progress
in
fighting
global
warming,
it's
likely
we
could
see
out-of-
control
rises
in
sea
levels,
huge
crop
shortfalls
and
wars
over
limited
freshwater
resources.
In
terms
of
how
we
will
eat,
green
markets
founder
and
“real
food"
supporter
Nina
believes
that
there
will
be
more
small
milk
processing
plants
and
more
regional
food
operations
and
we'll
be
healthier
as
a
result.
New
York
Times
writer
Mark
thinks
that
people
will
eat
fewer
processed
foods
and
eat
foods
grown
closer
to
where
they
live.
And
more
people
will
be
aware
of
the
ethical
responsibility"
to
grow
foods.
8.
What
may
happen
by
2050
based
on
the
magazine
Big
Think
?
A.
Education
will
be
driven
by
economy.
B.
The
majority
of
people
will
be
taller.
C.
AI
will
cause
disastrous
changes.
D.
Most
people
will
live
in
big
cities.
9.
What
do
we
know
about
technology
in
the
future
according
to
Paragraph
3?
A.
It
will
make
people
live
in
science-fiction
fantasy.
B.
It
will
ensure
safer
transports
due
to
faster
cars.
C.
It
will
greatly
change
the
way
in
which
people
live.
D.
It
will
increase
the
number
of
long-distance
drivers.
10.
What
does
the
underlined
word
"dire"
in
Paragraph
4
mean?
A.
Magical.
B.
Terrible.
C.
Ridiculous.
D.
Meaningful.
11.
What
does
Nina
think
of
foods
in
the
future?
A.
People
will
eat
healthier
and
fresher
foods.
B.
Land-raised
farm
systems
will
be
improved.
C.
There
will
be
smaller
regional
food
operations,
D.
Food
supplies
will
become
much
more
limited.
D
Contrary
to
the
long-held
belief
that
plants
in
the
natural
world
are
always
in
competition,
new
research
has
found
that
in
severe
environments
adult
plants
help
smaller
ones
and
grow
well
as
a
result.
The
research,
led
by
Dr
Rocio,
studied
adult
and
seedling
(幼苗)plants
in
the
ecological
desert
in
the
south-east
of
Spain.
Dr
Rocio
said,
“If
you're
a
seedling
in
a
poor
land

the
top
of
a
mountain
or
a
sand
hill,
for
example-and
you’re
lucky
enough
to
end
up
underneath
a
big
plant,
your
chances
of
survival
are
certainly
better
than
if
you
landed
somewhere
on
your
own.
What
we
have
found,
which
was
surprising,
is
an
established
large
plant,
called
a
‘nurse’,
protects
a
seedling;
it
also
produces
more
flowers
than
the
same
plants
of
similar
large
size
growing
on
their
own.”
Other
benefits
of
nurse-seedling
partnerships
include
that
more
variety
of
plants
growing
together
can
have
a
positive
effect
on
the
environment.
For
example,
vegetation
areas
with
nurse
plants
with
more
flowers
might
be
able
to
attract
higher
numbers
of
pollinators(传粉者)in
an
area,
in
turn
supporting
insect
and
soil
life
and
even
provide
a
greater
range
of
different
fruit
types
for
birds
and
other
animals.
“The
biggest
winner
for
this
system
of
nursing
a
plant
is
biodiversity(生物多样性),”
Dr
Rocio
said.
“The
more
biodiverse
an
area,
the
greater
number
of
species
of
plants,
insect
life,
mammals
and
birds,
and
the
better
the
chances
of
long-term
healthy
functioning
of
the
environment
and
ecosystems.

This
system
is
win-win
for
adult
and
seedling
plants
in
unfavorable
environments.
The
research
is
of
value
to
those
who
manage
and
protect
plants
in
tough
environments.
Most
home
gardeners
and
farmers
plan
to
ensure
their
soil
and
conditions
are
the
best
they
can
be
for
plant
growth,
but
the
findings
might
be
of
value
to
those
who
garden
in
bare
places.
12.
What
is
a
common
understanding
of
plants?
A.
They
can
help
each
other.
B.
They
can
survive
ill
conditions.
C.
They
compete
with
each
other.
D.
They
grow
well
on
their
own.
13.
What
will
happen
to
seedling
plants
if
they
grow
under
adult
plants?
A.
They
will
produce
more
flowers.
B.
They
will
die
owing
to
competition.
C.
They
will
make
adult
plants
larger.
D.
They
will
get
support
from
adult
plants.
14.
What
is
the
effect
of
the
nurse-seedling
partnership?
A.
It
leads
to
unfavorable
environments.
B.
It

long-term
healthy
chances.
C.
It
attracts
higher
and
larger
pollinators.
D
It
provides
a
more
variety
of
plant
types.
15.
Who
will
benefit
from
the
new
research?
A.
People
studying
organic
farming.
B.
People
protecting
plants
on
sand

on
a
computer
doesn't
have
to
be

as
the

afraid
to
move
things
around
to
make
the
pages
look
better.
____20____
If
printing
the
pages
is

Word,
Publisher
or
Powerpoint.
F.
Keep
things
simple
at
the

with
maybe
four
pages
for
the
first
issue.

You
don't
generally
expect
to
put
yourself
in
the
public
eye
when
you
go
on
vacation.
However
when
a
British
couple,
Jessica
and
Edward,
flew
to
Crete,
they
found
themselves
attracting
a
lot
of
attention
after
coming
across
a
large
sum
of
money
in
the
street.
At
first,
their
Crete
vacation
hadn't
been
anything
outside
of
the
norm.
However,
it
was
as
they
were
exploring
the
souvenir
shops
that
everything
changed.
The
couple
were
just
walking
down
the
street
when
Jessica
suddenly
kicked
something
lying
on
the
ground.
It
looked
a
bit
like
a
make-up
bag
and
so
they
assumed
that
someone
had
lost
it.
Without
hesitation,
Jessica
picked
up
the
bag
and
opened
it.
She
was
shocked
to
see
a
lot
of
money
in
it-a
total
of
7,100
Euros.
There
was
probably
a
lot
they
could
do
with
all
that
money.
However,
the
couple
didn't
have
it
in
them
to
steal
what
belonged
to
someone
else.
Going
to
the
police
was
the
first
thought
that
came
to
mind
when
Jessica
saw
the
money.
She
didn't
consider
that
there
was
any
other
choice,
so
the
couple
handed
over
the
money
to
the
local
police.
The
police
found
the
owner,
an
elderly
woman,
and
informed
the
couple
that
the
woman
wanted
to
meet
them.
When
they
eventually
met
at
the
police
station,
the
woman
was
so
overcome
with
emotion
that
she
wouldn't
stop
hugging
and
blessing
them,
although
they
insisted
they
were
just
doing
the
right
thing.
News
of
what
the
couple
had
done
quickly
made
its
way
around
the
island.
The
locals
wanted
to
show
them
their
gratitude.
This
included
receiving
free
taxi
rides
and
even
an
offer
to
have
their
hotel
room
upgraded.
The
couple
appreciated
the
kindness,
but
it
was
all
getting
to
be
a
bit
too
much.
They
just
wanted
to
have
a
normal
vacation.
They
are
probably
hoping
that
they
fly
a
little
more
under
the
radar
during
their
next
vacation.
There's
only
so
much
attention
that
these
two
lovebirds
can
handle.
4.

bought
something
in
souvenir

D
Contrary
to
the
long-held
belief
that
plants
in
the
natural
world
are
always
in
competition,
new
research
has
found
that
in
severe
environments
adult
plants
help
smaller
ones
and
grow
well
as
a
result.
The
research,
led
by
Dr
Rocio,
studied
adult
and
seedling
(幼苗)plants
in
the
ecological
desert
in
the
south-east
of
Spain.
Dr
Rocio
said,
“If
you're
a
seedling
in
a
poor
land

the
top
of
a
mountain
or
a
sand
hill,
for
example-and
you’re
lucky
enough
to
end
up
underneath
a
big
plant,
your
chances
of
survival
are
certainly
better
than
if
you
landed
somewhere
on
your
own.
What
we
have
found,
which
was
surprising,
is
an
established
large
plant,
called
a
‘nurse’,
protects
a
seedling;
it
also
produces
more
flowers
than
the
same
plants
of
similar
large
size
growing
on
their
own.”
Other
benefits
of
nurse-seedling
partnerships
include
that
more
variety
of
plants
growing
together
can
have
a
positive
effect
on
the
environment.
For
example,
vegetation
areas
with
nurse
plants
with
more
flowers
might
be
able
to
attract
higher
numbers
of
pollinators(传粉者)in
an
area,
in
turn
supporting
insect
and
soil
life
and
even
provide
a
greater
range
of
different
fruit
types
for
birds
and
other
animals.
“The
biggest
winner
for
this
system
of
nursing
a
plant
is
biodiversity(生物多样性),”
Dr
Rocio
said.
“The
more
biodiverse
an
area,
the
greater
number
of
species
of
plants,
insect
life,
mammals
and
birds,
and
the
better
the
chances
of
long-term
healthy
functioning
of
the
environment
and
ecosystems.

This
system
is
win-win
for
adult
and
seedling
plants
in
unfavorable
environments.
The
research
is
of
value
to
those
who
manage
and
protect
plants
in
tough

Most
home
gardeners
and
farmers
plan
to
ensure
their
soil
and
conditions
are
the
best
they
can
be
for
plant

but
the
findings
might
be
of
value
to
those
who
garden
in
bare
places.

B.
They
can
survive
ill
conditions.
C.
They
compete
with
each
other.
D.
They
grow
well
on

13.
What
will
happen
to
seedling
plants
if
they
grow
under
adult
plants?
A.
They
will
produce
more
flowers.
B.
They
will
die
owing
to
competition.
C.
They
will
make
adult
plants
larger.
D.
They
will
get
support
from
adult

14.
What
is
the
effect
of
the

A.
It

B.
It

C.
It
attracts

D
It
