举头望明月,低头思故乡。
暮云收尽溢清寒,
银汉无声转玉盘。

明月明年何处看。

Hou
Yi
married
a
beautiful
wife
named
Chang’e.
They
were
in
love
very
well.
One
day,
on
the
way
to
visiting
his
friends,
Hou
Yi
came
across
the
Heavenly
Queen.
The
Heavenly
Queen
gave
him
an
elixir.
It
was
said
that
one
could
become
fairy
after
taking
it.
Hou
Yi
was
not
willing
to
leave
his
wife,
so
he
told
Chang’e
the
whole
story
and
gave
her
the
elixir
to
keep
it.
But
Peng
Meng
overheard
what
they
said.
Three
days
later,
Hou
Yi
led
all
his
apprentices
to
go
hunting.
Peng
Meng
pretended
to
be
ill
and
didn’t
follow.
When
Hou
Yi
left,
Peng
Meng
broke
into
Chang’e’s
room
with
a
sword
and
forced
her
to
hand
out
the
elixir.
Chang’e
knew
she
couldn’t
defeat
Peng
Meng,
so
she
ate
the
elixir.
After
she
swallowed
it,
her
body
started
to
lift
off
the
ground
and
she
flew
to
the
sky.
Chang’e
missed
her
husband
so
much
that
she
flew
to
the
moon
which
was
nearest
to
the
earth
to
be
a
fairy.
In
the
evening,
Hou
Yi
went
back
home
and
knew
what
had
happened,
feeling
shocked
and
angry.
He
took
out
his
sword
and
decided
to
kill
Peng
Meng,
but
Peng
Meng
had
already
run
away.
Hou
Yi
was
desperate
and
shouted
Chang’e’s
name
to
the
night
sky.
Suddenly,
he
found
that
the
moon
was
bright
and
his
wife
Chang’e
was
waggling
on
the
moon.
Hou
Yi
ordered
his
apprentice
to
take
out
Chang’e’s
favourite
fruit
and
dessert
to
show
his
yearning
for
his
wife.
People
knew
the
story
and
prepared
delicious
food
to
pray
for
Chang’e.
Ever
since,
the
custom
has
spread
quickly.
The
day
when
Chang’e
flew
to
the
moon
was
August
15th,
so
people
call
it
the
Mid-Autumn
Festival.
