B
Years
ago,
I
appeared
on
stage
with
the
Royal
Melbourne
Philharmonic
Choir
in
the
Town
Hall.
There
I
was,
my
feet
in
plain
shoes,
sweat
dirtying
my
clean
white
shirt,
singing
my
heart
out
in
front
of
the
big
organ.
I
still
have
a
tape
recording
of
that
performance
somewhere,
where
I
swear
I
can
hear
myself
singing,
high
and
thin
and
possibly
off-key.
But
life
got
in
the
way
and
I
stopped
singing.
Then,
in
the
summer
of
2019,
I
found
myself
facing
some
shadows
in
my
own
life.
It
felt
as
if
it
had
been
a
long
time
between
songs,
as
if
there
was
something
unsung,
some
absent
music
in
my
ears.
I
began
to
fear
I
might
be
making
myself
ill
and
unable
to
breathe
in
a
normal
way.
Could
singing
help
me
reclaim
my
voice
and
calm
my
fast-beating
heart?
Research
from
the
Royal
Society
noted
that
"group
singing
can
improve
physical
and
mental
health,
as
well
as
promote
social
bonds”.
So,
rather
than
letting
my
unsung
tunes
strangle
me,
I
decided
to
take
on
a
new
choral
experience,
one
being
in
the
Big
Feminist
Sing,
a
community
choir.
“If
you
don’t
know
what
to
sing,”
the
choir
director
said,
“find
someone
who
looks
confident,
and
go
and
stand
next
to
them.
Find
a
friend
if
you're
in
trouble;
take
a
risk;
use
your
voice;
be
part
of
something
bigger
than
yourself.”
I've
been
singing
in
the
choir
ever
since,
because
group
singing
gives
me
a
sense
of
security-and
each
rehearsal
is
a
lifeline,
a
connected
thread,
an
intake
of
air
working
toward
a
collective
voice.
It
doesn't
matter
if
I
am
a
bit
off-key
to
start
with.
Decades
of
unsung
situations
have
changed,
and
I
have
flown.
4.

during
her
performance
in
the
Town

A.
Thrilled.
B.
Nervous.
C.
Confident.
D.
Curious.
5.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“strangle”
in
paragraph
3
probably
mean?
A.
Reach.
B.
Blind
C.
Cheat
D.
Choke.
6.
What
does
the
author
learn
from
her
latest
choir
experience?
A.
Finding
a
true
friend
is
never

B.
Teamwork
has
benefited
her
a
lot.
C.
The
choir
director's

decided
to
take
on
a
new
choral
experience”可知,作者从研究中得知合唱可以改善身心健康,还能增进社会联系,所以为了不让自己的无名小调阻塞自己,作者决定进行一次新的合唱体验,故画线词意思是“阻塞”。A.
Reach.
到达;B.
Blind使失明;C.
Cheat欺骗;D.
Choke阻塞。故选D。
【6题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中“I've

may
be
able
to
detect
slight

through
the

allowing
them

however,
this
has

the
more
our
understanding

10.
What
does
the
last
paragraph
suggest?
A.
Animals

For
companies
around
the
world
and
across
industries,
sustainability(可持续发展)
has
rapidly
gone
from
a
nice-to-have
to
a
must-have.
Some
famous
companies
have
announced
ambitious
plans
to
remove
single-use
plastics,
reduce
carbon
release
and
otherwise
shrink
their
environmental
footprint
in
various
ways.
Newlight
Technologies
hopes
to
speed
up
that
process.
The
company
has
spent
more
than
a
decade
developing
a
material
called
AirCarbon,
which
functions
exactly
like
plastic
but
is
completely
biodegradable(可生物降解的).
Newlight
developed
the
material
using
microorganisms
found
in
the
ocean
that
feed
on
methane
and
carbon
dioxide-two-greenhouse
gases
among
the
biggest
contributors
to
climate
change.
The
organisms
turn
those
gases
into
a
natural
polymer(聚合物)
that
can
be
shaped
just
like
plastic.
“We
call
that
AirCarbon
because
it's
air
and
carbon
that
can
mix
with
and
become
part
of
water,”
CEO
Mark
Herrema
said.
“We
have
this
pure
white
powder
that
we
can
then
melt
and
form
in
all
kinds
of
parts
and
pieces.”
The
company's
new
production
facility
is
filled
with
large
saltwater
tanks
that
recreate
ocean
conditions,
allowing
the
organisms
to
make
the
polymer
from
which
AirCarbon
can
be
obtained.
Newlight
recently
began
rolling
out
its
first
set
of
products
made
from
the
material,
launching
two-brands.
Its
foodware
brand,
Restore,
sells
biodegradable
straws,
knives,
forks
and
spoons,
while
its
fashion
brand
Covalent
sells
handbags,
wallets
and
sunglasses.
And
because
the
process
of
developing
AirCarbon
uses
gases
from
the
atmosphere,
the
products
are
carbon
negative,
meaning
they
take
out
more
pollutants
than
they
produce.
Newlight
has
received
carbon
negative
certifications
from
several
organizations
for
its
products.
Newlight’s
current
products
are
costlier
than
some
traditional
products
available
on
the
market,
since
the
company
has
just
one
facility,
which
makes
it
hard
to
keep
prices
down.
At
present,
Newlight’s
AirCarbon
products
can
remove
100
million
pounds
of
carbon
dioxide
per
year.
But
Herrema's
goal
is
to
build
more
facilities
as
quickly
as
possible
and
eventually
increase
that
number
to
20
billion
pounds,
which
he
says
is
how
much
plastic
ends
up
in
the
ocean
each
year.
12.
What
is
the
advantage
of
AirCarbon?
A.
It
is
more
flexible
than
plastic.
B.
It
can
partially
break
down.
C.
It
helps
reduce
greenhouse
gases.
D.
It
is
an
artificial
polymer
like
plastic.
13.
Why
has
Newlight
been
certified
carbon
negative?
A.
Its
products
are
of
good
quality.
B.
Its
products
are
energy-saving.
C.
It
develops
two
sustainable
brands.
D.
It
removes
more
carbon
than
it
releases.
14.
What
might
be
the
challenge
for
Newlight’s
AirCarbon
products?
A.
Limited
production.
B.
Low
profits.
C.
Few
customers.
D.
Poor
marketing.
15.
What
does
the
text
mainly
talk
about?
A.
New
technology
that
reduces
carbon

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。主要讲述Newlight科技公司利用在海洋中发现的微生物开发了一种可能有助于解决气候变化的塑料替代品。
【12题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“The
company
has
spent
more
than
a
decade
developing
a
material
called
AirCarbon,
which
functions
exactly
like
plastic
but
is
completely
biodegradable(可生物降解的).
Newlight
developed
the
material
using
microorganisms
found
in
the
ocean
that
feed
on
methane
and
carbon
dioxide-two
-greenhouse
gases
among
the
biggest
contributors
to
climate
change.
The
organisms
tum
those
gases
into
a
natural
polymer(聚合物)
that
can
be
shaped
just
like
plastic.”(这家公司花费十多年的时间研制了一种物质叫AirCarbon,它的功能和塑料一样,但是可完全生物降解的。Newlight利用在海洋中发现的微生物开发了这种材料,这种微生物以甲烷和二氧化碳为食——两种造成气候变化的最大因素的温室气体。生物体将这些气体转化成形状像塑料的天然聚合物)可知,AirCarbon的生产可以在一定程度上减少温室气体。故选C。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“And
because
the
process
of
developing
AirCarbon
uses
gases
from
the
atmosphere,
the
products
are
carbon
negative,
meaning
they
take
out
more
pollutants
than
they
produce.”(因为生产AirCarbon所使用的气体来自大气层,所以这种产品是碳的负排放,意味着他们消除的污染物要多于排放的污染物)可知,AirCarbon被认定为碳的负排放是因为他们消除的污染物要多于排放的污染物。故选D。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据“Newlight’s
current
products
are
costlier
than
some
traditional
products
available
on
the
market,
since
the
company
has
just
one
facility,
which
makes
it
hard
to
keep
prices
down.”(Newlight的产品目前的价格较市面上可获得的传统产品更高,因为这家公司只有一条生产线,这让它的价格很难降下来)可知,Newlight公司只有一条生产线,产量有限,所以该公司的产品面临的挑战是产量有限。故选A。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。根据文章主要内容,尤其第二段的根据第二段“The

【解析】
【分析】本文属于说明文。介绍了四种简单有效的保持头脑清醒的方法。
【详解】1.
结合空白处前一句Keeping
your
mind
sharp
is
sure
to
give
you
the
edge
over
the
competition保持头脑清醒肯定能让你在竞争中占据优势,可知,此处说明的是保持头脑清醒的好处,因而在后面的描述中同样要讲明保持头脑清醒的好处。选项C.More
importantly,
it
will
lead
to
your
own
higher
levels
of
happiness.更重要的是,它会带给你更高层次的幸福。此句是对好处的进一步阐述。符合题意。故选C。
2.根据本段主题句Continue
reading
and
gaining
knowledge.继续阅读,学习知识可知,本段重在说明阅读带来的好处。结合空白处前面Read
blogs
on
subjects
both
within
or
beyond
your
field:
read
books;
watch
lectures
on
fascinating
new
subjects;
and
read
about
ancient
societies.
阅读你所在领域内外的博客:
阅读书籍;
观看关于有吸引力的新课题的讲座;
阅读关于古代社会的文章。可知,阅读要不仅是自己领域的内容,同样也要读自己领域之外的内容。因而,接下来要论述的是这样做的意义。选项F.Challenge
your
mind
to
continually
broaden
your
horizons
and
take
in
new
information.挑战你的头脑,不断拓宽你的视野,吸收新的信息。符合题意。故选F。
3.本段主题句Learn
a
skill
you’ve
never
tried
before.学习一种之前你从来没有尝试过的技巧。可知,本段主要围绕新技巧带来的好处。根据空白处前一句You’re
never
too
old
to
do
this,
but
this
is
definitely
something
you
should
start
as
young
as
you
can.
学习永远不嫌老,但这绝对是你应该尽可能从小开始做的事。可以推断,空白处将要讲述具体事例。选项E.I
started
making
my
own
music
at
around
17,
but
I
wish
I
had
started
even
younger.我17岁左右开始创作自己的音乐,但我希望我开始的时候更年轻。j通过我的事例说明自己渴望更早的时候学习音乐,符合本段主题。故选E。
4.
空白处为本段的主题句。通过观察前面两段的主题句可知,段落的主题句的句式为祈使句。结合空白处后的第二句But
in
your
process
of
absorbing
new
skills,
what
you
have
learned
and
where
you
are
going
is
vital
to
put
everything
in
proper
perspective.
但在你学习新技能的过程中,你学到了什么,你要去哪里,这对于正确看待一切至关重要可知,本段主要谈论的是领会新技能。选项A.Give
your
mind
time
to
absorb
knowledge.给你的大脑时间去吸收知识。不论是句式结构上,还是从内容上,都和本段陈述的内容相符合。故选A。
5.空白处前一句Giving
your
mind
the
proper
rest
and
energy
is
vital
to
getting
the
best
performance
out
of
it.让你的大脑得到适当的休息和精力,对于获得最好的表现是至关重要的。选项G.This
is
pretty
self
explanatory,
but
people
often
forget
that
you
need
proper
fuel
and
proper
rest
to
function
best.这是不言自明的,但人们经常忘记,你需要适当的燃料和适当的休息,才能最好地发挥作用。This此处指代的就是前一句的内容,同时句中的proper
fuel
and
proper
rest
to
function
best也和前一句中的关键词存在呼应关系。所以选项G符合题意。故选G。

【解析】
【分析】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了泰瑞·福克斯在患上骨癌装上假肢后仍坚持跑步的励志故事。
【详解】第一处:考查谓语动词。句意:泰瑞·福克斯出生于1958年,在大学里学习体育。句中已有动词studied,名词Terry
Fox与动词bear是被动关系,所以用过去分词作状语。故将is去掉。
第二处:考查冠词。句意:克斯出生于1958年,在大学里学习体育。可数名词leg是单数形式,泛指,且形容词artificial发音以元音音素开头。故将a改为an。
第三处:考查非谓语动词或连词。句意:1980年,他决定在加拿大各地举办“希望马拉松”,希望让人们了解癌症患者的痛苦,并为癌症研究筹集资金。逻辑主语he与动词hope是主动关系,所以用现在分词作状语,或者加连词and与前面的动词时态一致。故将hoped改为
hoping或在hope前加and。
第四处:考查时态。句意:4月12日,他在纽芬兰开始跑步。根据时间状语On
April
12,这件事发生在过去。故将start改为started。
第五处:考查连词。句意:这是一次艰难的跑步,但他非常坚定,坚持跑下去。空格前后句意发生转折。故将and改为but。
第六处:考查宾语。句意:很快,人们聚集在他的路线上为他加油。主角是个男人且在动词cheer后。故将her改为him。
第七处:考查名词的数。句意:媒体开始报道他的进展。名词progress是不可数的。故将progresses改为progress。
第八处:考查介词。句意:特里行走了5373公里后,因为癌症的扩散而不得不停下来。the
spread
of
cancer是名词,所以用because
of。故在because后加of。
第九处:考查时态。句意:他于1981年去世,举国悲痛。句中缺少谓语动词,且事件发生在1981,所以用一般过去时。故将dead改为died。
第十处:考查副词。句意:他于1981年去世,举国悲痛。动词saddened前用副词修饰。故将great改为greatly。

B
Years
ago,
I
appeared
on
stage
with
the
Royal
Melbourne
Philharmonic
Choir
in
the
Town
Hall.
There
I
was,
my
feet
in
plain
shoes,
sweat
dirtying
my
clean
white
shirt,
singing
my
heart
out
in
front
of
the
big
organ.
I
still
have
a
tape
recording
of
that
performance
somewhere,
where
I
swear
I
can
hear
myself
singing,
high
and
thin
and
possibly
off-key.
But
life
got
in
the
way
and
I
stopped
singing.
Then,
in
the
summer
of
2019,
I
found
myself
facing
some
shadows
in
my
own
life.
It
felt
as
if
it
had
been
a
long
time
between
songs,
as
if
there
was
something
unsung,
some
absent
music
in
my
ears.
I
began
to
fear
I
might
be
making
myself
ill
and
unable
to
breathe
in
a
normal
way.
Could
singing
help
me
reclaim
my
voice
and
calm
my
fast-beating
heart?
Research
from
the
Royal
Society
noted
that
"group
singing
can
improve
physical
and
mental
health,
as
well
as
promote
social
bonds”.
So,
rather
than
letting
my
unsung
tunes
strangle
me,
I
decided
to
take
on
a
new
choral
experience,
one
being
in
the
Big
Feminist
Sing,
a
community
choir.
“If
you
don’t
know
what
to
sing,”
the
choir
director
said,
“find
someone
who
looks
confident,
and
go
and
stand
next
to
them.
Find
a
friend
if
you're
in
trouble;
take
a
risk;
use
your
voice;
be
part
of
something
bigger
than
yourself.”
I've
been
singing
in
the
choir
ever
since,
because
group
singing
gives
me
a
sense
of
security-and
each
rehearsal
is
a
lifeline,
a
connected
thread,
an
intake
of
air
working
toward
a
collective
voice.
It
doesn't
matter
if
I
am
a
bit
off-key
to
start
with.
Decades
of
unsung
situations
have
changed,
and
I
have
flown.

astonishing

there
exists
a
biological
superhighway
linking
together
the
members
of
the
plant

in
what
researchers
call
the
"wood
wide
web".
The
network
is
comprised
of
thin
threads
of
fungus
(真菌)
that
grow
outwards
underground
up
to
a
few
meters
from
its
partnering
plant,
meaning
that
all
of
the
plant
life
within
a
region
likely
connected
to
one
another.
The
partnership
is
beneficial
for
both
parties
involved,
plants
provide
carbohydrates
(碳水化合物)
to
the
funguses
and
in
exchange,
the
funguses
aid
in
gathering
water
and
providing
nutrients
to
its

plant.
A
study
conducted
by

of
the
South

Agricultural

found
that

The
study
showed
Broad

to

Like
our
Internet,
this
fungal
connectivity
is
also
full
of
crime.
Some
plants,
such
as

have
been
found
to
release
poisons
into
the
network
to
slow
down
the
growth
of
surrounding
plants
in
the
fight
for
water
and
light.
Other
plants,
such
as
the
Phantom
Orchid,
do
not
have
the
chlorophyll
(叶绿素)
and
must
get
the
necessary
nutrients
from
surrounding
plants.
Research
suggests
that
animals
such
as
insects
and
worms
may
be
able
to
detect
slight
exchanges
of
nutrients
through
the
network,
allowing
them
to
more
easily
find
delicious
roots
to
feed
on;
however,
this
has
not
been
conclusively
made
clear
in
experimentation.
The
more
we
learn
about
this
phenomenon,
the
more
our
understanding
of
the
plant
life
of
our
planet
will
continue
to
change.
Perhaps
one
day,
we
may
be
able
to
map
out
these
complex
networks
entirely.

For
companies
around
the
world
and
across
industries,
sustainability(可持续发展)
has
rapidly
gone
from
a
nice-to-have
to
a
must-have.
Some
famous
companies
have
announced
ambitious
plans
to
remove
single-use
plastics,
reduce
carbon
release
and
otherwise
shrink
their
environmental
footprint
in
various
ways.
Newlight
Technologies
hopes
to
speed
up
that
process.
The
company
has
spent
more
than
a
decade
developing
a
material
called
AirCarbon,
which
functions
exactly
like
plastic
but
is
completely
biodegradable(可生物降解的).
Newlight
developed
the
material
using
microorganisms
found
in
the
ocean
that
feed
on
methane
and
carbon
dioxide-two-greenhouse
gases
among
the
biggest
contributors
to
climate
change.
The
organisms
turn
those
gases
into
a
natural
polymer(聚合物)
that
can
be
shaped
just
like
plastic.
“We
call
that
AirCarbon
because
it's
air
and
carbon
that
can
mix
with
and
become
part
of
water,”
CEO
Mark
Herrema
said.
“We
have
this
pure
white
powder
that
we
can
then
melt
and
form
in
all
kinds
of
parts
and
pieces.”
The
company's
new
production
facility
is
filled
with
large
saltwater
tanks
that
recreate
ocean
conditions,
allowing
the
organisms
to
make
the
polymer
from
which
AirCarbon
can
be
obtained.
Newlight
recently
began
rolling
out
its
first
set
of
products
made
from
the
material,
launching
two-brands.
Its
foodware
brand,
Restore,
sells
biodegradable
straws,
knives,
forks
and
spoons,
while
its
fashion
brand
Covalent
sells
handbags,
wallets
and
sunglasses.
And
because
the
process
of
developing
AirCarbon
uses
gases
from
the
atmosphere,
the
products
are
carbon
negative,
meaning
they
take
out
more
pollutants
than
they
produce.
Newlight
has
received
carbon
negative
certifications
from
several
organizations
for
its
products.
Newlight’s
current
products
are
costlier
than
some
traditional
products
available
on
the
market,
since
the
company
has
just
one
facility,
which
makes
it
hard
to
keep
prices
down.
At
present,
Newlight’s
AirCarbon
products
can
remove
100
million
pounds
of
carbon
dioxide
per
year.
But
Herrema's
goal
is
to
build
more
facilities
as
quickly
as
possible
and
eventually
increase
that
number
to
20
billion
pounds,
which
he
says
is
how
much
plastic
ends
up
in
the
ocean
each
year.
12.
What
is
the
advantage
of
AirCarbon?
A.
It
is
more
flexible
than
plastic.
B.
It
can
partially
break
down.
C.
It
helps
reduce
greenhouse
gases.
D.
It
is
an
artificial
polymer
like
plastic.
13.
Why
has
Newlight
been
certified
carbon
negative?
A.
Its
products
are
of
good
quality.
B.
Its
products

Simple
ways
to
keep
your
mind
sharp
We’re
all
part
of
a
fantastic
intellectual
and
information
economy,
which
relies
on
ideas,
creativity
and
intelligence.
Keeping
your
mind
sharp
is
sure
to
give
you
the
edge
over
the
competition.
___16___
Continue
reading
and
gaining
knowledge.
Education
is
not
preparation
for
life;
it
is
life
itself.
Read
blogs
on
subjects
both
within
or
beyond
your
field:
read
books;
watch
lectures
on
fascinating
new
subjects;
and
read
about
ancient
societies.
___17___
Learn
a
skill
you’ve
never
tried
before.
You’re
never
too
old
to
do
this,
but
this
is
definitely
something
you
should
start
as
young
as
you
can.
___18___
You’d
be
surprised
how
much
it
will
open
up
many
new
paths
in
your
mind.
You’ll
also
open
yourself
up
to
tons
of
new
connections
and
intellectual
social
circles
with
a
new
hobby,
form
of
art,
or
trade.
___19___
We
are
constantly
experiencing
and
learning
new
things
and
taking
in
new
information.
But
in
your
process
of
absorbing
new
skills,
what
you
have
learned
and
where
you
are
going
is
vital
to
put
everything
in
proper
perspective.
Some
people
do
it
well
during
running,
while
others
through
listening
to
music.
Find
your
own
pace
that
allows
you
to
take
in
all
you
have
learned
and
frequent
it
often.
Eat
well,
sleep
well
and
exercise
often.
Giving
your
mind
the
proper
rest
and
energy
is
vital
to
getting
the
best
performance
out
of
it.
___20___
Also,
putting
your
physical
body
through
the
paces
is
a
surefire
way
to
refresh
yourself
mentally.
A.
Give
your
mind
time
to
absorb
knowledge.
B.
Use
your
mind
to
remember
to
improve
your
memory.
C.
More
importantly,
it
will
lead
to
your
own
higher
levels
of
happiness.
D.
On
the
contrary,
it
is
the
best
way
to
help
you
stand
out
from
the
crowd.
E.
I
started
making
my
own
music
at
around
17,
but
I
wish
I
had
started
even
younger.
F.
Challenge
your
mind
to
continually
broaden
your
horizons
and
take
in
new
information.
G.
This
is
pretty
self
explanatory,
but
people
often
forget
that
you
need
proper
fuel
and
proper
rest
to
function
best.
