1. But whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits.但你是否能学习得
好取决于你的学习习惯。
*whether or not意为“是否”，当whether用来引导主语从句,不能与if替换。如：
Whether it will succeed or not is still a problem.它是否能成功还是个问题。
*depend on在此意为“取决于；决定于”，相当于depend upon,后可接名词、代词、动名词或
从句。如：
Our plans depend on the weather.
Whether we need more food depends on how many people turn up.
2. Studies show that if you are interested in something, your brain is more active and it is also
easier for you to pay attention to it for a long time.研究表明，如果你对某件事感兴趣，你的大脑就
会更加活跃，你也更容易长时间关注它。
*attention表示“注意；专心”等时，是不可数名词，因此不能与不定冠词连用，也没有复数形
式。如：
Pay great attention to these points.要特别注意这几点。
*pay attention to sth.“注意某事”，to是介词。如：
Please pay attention to the use of this word.请注意这个词的用法。
You should pay attention to your spelling.你要注意拼写。
*pay attention to doing sth.“注意／重视（做）某事”。如：
Please pay attention to taking care of your baby.请注意照顾好你的小孩。
3. Good learners think about what they are good at and what they need to practice more, 好的
学习者会考虑到他们擅长的和他们需要加强练习的东西。
辨析：think about 与 think of
*think about 和 think of这两个短语表示“考虑、对······有某种看法”时，可以互换。如：
They're thinking about(of) buying a new car.
What do you think about(of)this film?
*think of 表示下列意义时，一般不与think about换用
想出,想到

关心，想着
He always thinks more of others than himself.
想起，记得
I can't think of his name.
*think about 表示“回想过去的事情；考虑····是否切实可行”时，一般不和think of换用。如：
I often thought about what you said.
I'll think about your suggestion, and give you an answer tomorrow.
4. Even if you learn something well, you will forget it unless you use it. 即使你把某个东西学得
很好，如果你不使用它，你也会忘记的。
*even if 意为“即使；虽然；纵然”，引导让步状语从句，和 though, although, even though 是
同义表达。如：
I won't lose courage even if I fail ten times.
Even if the weather's awful, there will be a lot to do.
*unless是连词，意为“如果不；除非”，引导条件状语从句,同if...not,两者可以进行同义转化。如：
You will fail in the exam unless you study hard.
= You will fail in the exam if you don't study hard.
注意:unless和if一样,如果主句是一般将来时,从句要用一般现在时来代替将来,即符合“主将从现”的原则。
5.Good learners often connect what they need to learn with something interesting.好的学习者
经常把他们需要学习的东西和有趣的东西联系起来。
connect...with...是固定搭配，意为“把···和···连接或联系起来”。如：
Please help me connect the printer with the computer.
