Ⅱ.阅读理解
A
I'd
like
to
share
a
story
that
happened
when
I
was
four.
I
remember
it
clearly.
Our
loving
family
dog
was
nearing
the
end
of
his
life.
My
father
picked
him
up
and
put
him
in
a
little
bed
we
had
made
for
him.
Our
dog,
my
companion,
whom
we
had
cared
for,
bit
my
father
when
he
tried
to
help
him.
How
could
he?
Why?
I
couldn't
understand
it.
I
didn't
like
him
anymore.
I
hadn't
thought
about
that
story
for
a
long
time
but
something
that
happened
last
week
brought
it
back
to
me.
I
went
to
speak
with
a
friend.
When
I
knocked
on
the
door,
I
met
an
angry
look
and
a
few
harsh
(尖刻的)
words.
When
the
door
was
closed
in
my
face,
I
stood
there
shocked,
and
in
a
rush,
I
was
reminded
of
my
dog
biting
my
father
20
years
ago
or
so.
What
brought
that
story
back
was
that
same
feeling
of
betrayal
(背叛).
Both
stories
taught
me
something
the
next
day.
You
see,
when
I
got
up
in
the
morning
and
was
told
my
dog
had
died,
it
became
clear
to
me
that
he
must
have
been
in
great
pain.
For
him
to
have
bitten
a
family
member,
he
could
not
have
been
himself.
Much
the
same
for
the
other
story
when
I
learnt
that
my
friend's
wife
had
just
left
him.
We
are
all
beings
of
our
environments,
our
opinions
and
feelings.
And
all
of
those
things
can
cause
you
to
say
and
do
things
that
can't
be
understood
by
those
who
are
not
in
the
same
situation
with
you.
If
you
meet
someone
either
behaving
out
of
character
or
acting
in
a
way
that
doesn't
seem
to
fit
the
situation,
put
out
your
hand
and
be
patient
when
you
think
it
is
least
possible
for
him
to
do
so.
You
may
turn
around
a
story
that
has
a
sad
ending
simply
by
your
actions.

feeling

has
puzzled
the

ever
since.

of
about
20
years
ago?

attitude.
B.The
photo
of
the
dog.
C.His
father's
wound.
D.His
friend's
suffering.

did
the
author's
friend
say
harsh
words
to

was
ill?tempered.

was
suffering
the
pain
of
losing
his
wife.
C.He
was
bothered
by
an
unexpected
visit.
D.They
once
quarrelled
and
he
couldn't
forgive
the
author.
4.What's
the
author's
advice
to
us?
A.Help
those
in
need.
B.Look
before
you
leap.
C.Respect
for
others
is
a
good
quality.
D.Learn
to
put
yourself
in
others'
shoes.
B
Have
you
ever
found
yourself
in
this
situation:
You
hear
a
song
you
used
to
sing
when
you
were
a
child—a
bit
of
nostalgia
(怀旧)
or
“blast
from
the
past”,
as
we
say.
But
it
is
not
a
distant
childhood
memory.
The
words
come
back
to
you
as
clearly
as
when
you
sang
them
all
those
years
ago.
Researchers
at
the
University
of
Edinburgh
studied
the
relationship
between
music
and
remembering
a
foreign
language.
They
found
that
remembering
words
in
a
song
was
the
best
way
to
remember
even
one
of
the
most
difficult
languages.
Researchers
took
60
adults
and
randomly
divided
them
into
three
groups
of
20.
Then
they
gave
the
groups
three
different
types
of
“listen?and?repeat”
learning
conditions.
Researchers
had
one
group
simply
speak
the
words.
They
had
the
second
group
speak
the
words
to
a
rhythm,
or
beat.
And
they
asked
the
third
group
to
sing
the
words.
All
three
groups
studied
words
from
the
Hungarian
language
for
15
minutes.
Then
they
took
part
in
a
series
of
language
tests
to
see
what
they
remembered.
Why
Hungarian,
you
ask?
Researchers
said
they
chose
Hungarian
because
not
many
people
know
the
language.
It
does
not
share
any
roots
with
Germanic
or
Romance
languages,
such
as
Italian
or
Spanish.
After
the
tests
were
over,
the
singers
came
out
on
top.
The
people
who
learnt
these
new
Hungarian
words
by
singing
them
showed
a
higher
overall
performance.
They
did
the
best
in
four
out
of
five
of
the
tests.
They
also
performed
two
times
better
than
those
who
simply
learnt
the
words
by
speaking
them.
Dr
Katie
Overy
said
singing
could
lead
to
new
ways
to
learn
a
foreign
language.
The
brain
likes
to
remember
things
when
they
are
contained
in
a
catchy
3,
or
memorable
4,
tune
5.
Dr
Ludke
said
the
findings
could
help
those
who
struggle
to
learn
foreign
languages.
On
the
University
of
Edinburgh's
website
Dr
Ludke
writes,
“This
study
provides
the
first
experimental
evidence
that
a
listen?and?repeat
singing
method
can
support
foreign
language
learning.”
5.What's
the
author's
purpose
by
mentioning
the
“song”
in
the
first
paragraph?
A.To
recall
the
past.
B.To
attract
the
readers.
C.To
introduce
the
topic.
D.To
compare
the
childhood
with
the
present.
6.Which
language
doesn't
share
the
same
root
with
Germanic
or
Romance
languages?
A.Hungarian.
B.Spanish.
C.Italian.
D.English.
7.What
can
we
conclude
from
the
last
two
paragraphs?
A.Singing
is
the
best
way
to
learn
a
language.
B.The
brain
probably
works
best
when
the
foreign
language
learners
sing
the
words.
C.A
listen?and?repeat
method
is
very
effective
for
any
language
learner.
D.Dr
Katie
Overy
and
Dr
Ludke
disagree
with
each
other.
8.In
which
situation
can
the
finding
of
the
research
be
applied?
A.A
mother
is
going
to
teach
her
baby
how
to
speak.
B.A
child
is
going
to
have
his
first
music
lesson.
C.A
student
is
going
to
learn
a
new
English
song.
D.An
American
is
going
to

Ⅱ.阅读理解
A
I
must
have
looked
deep
in
thought,
or
as
deep
in
thought
as
an
11?year?old
man
can,
when
my
grandmother
glanced
up
from
her
weeding
to
ask,
“You
have
something
on
your
mind,
don't
you?”
“Yes,
I
was
thinking
that
someday
I
want
to
be
an
Olympic
speed
skating
champion
like
my
hero,
Eric
Heiden.
I
want
to
be
a
doctor
like
my
father
and
I
want
to
help
children
in
Africa.”
I
immediately
knew
I
had
confided
(倾诉)
to
the
right
person
when
a
knowing
smile
broke
across
her
face.
“Johann,
of
course!
You
can
do
anything
you
want
to
do!”
she
said
simply.
And
with
my
grandmother's
support,
I
set
out
to
pursue
my
passions.
14
years
later,
I
was
well
ready
to
take
hold
of
my
first
dream:
becoming
an
Olympic
champion.
The
Olympics
in
1994
were
in
my
home
country,
Norway.
As
I
entered
the
Olympic
stadium,
I
wasn't
the
best
athlete,
and
many
had
doubts
about
my
ability
to
perform
well.
But
I
had
something
special
working
for
me.
I
had
a
woman
in
the
first
row
who
believed
in
me
following
my
passions
just
as
much
as
I
did.
For
the
first
time
ever,
my
grandmother
was
going
to
see
me
skate.
It
happened.
Breaking
a
world
record,
I
won
the
gold.
As
I
stood
on
the
podium
(领奖台)
that
I
had
dreamed
about
my
entire
life,
a
curious
question
popped
into
(突然进入)
my
head.
Why
me?
Why
did
I
win,
given
all
the
other
incredible
competitors
out
there?
The
reason
had
to
be
more
than
a
grandmother
who
shared
a
belief
in
her
grandson's
dream.
The
question
led
me
to
only
one
answer:
because
I
wanted
to
make
a
difference
in
the
world,
and
with
all
the
media
attention
on
my
success,
I
could.
I
immediately
knew
what
that
difference
had
to
be:
hope
in
the
lives
of
the
children
in
Africa.
Six
months
earlier,
I'd
been
invited
to
Eritrea
as
an
ambassador
for
Olympic
Aid.

Olympic
games.
D.His
grandmother's
attitude
towards
him.
3.What
is
the
whole
passage
mainly
about?
A.It's
mainly
about
a
young
boy
who
had
many
dreams.
B.It's
mainly
about
the
encouragement
from
a
grandmother.
C.
It's
mainly
about
a
sportsman
who
realized
his
first
dream
of
helping
African
children.
D.It's
mainly
about
an
Olympic
hero
who
made
a
difference
in
the
world.
B
My
challenge
for
you
is
this:
to
read
a
book
for
15
minutes
every
single
day
for
a
month.
Let
me
explain
a
bit,
by
telling
you
where
the
challenge
came
from.
I
have
many
things
in
common
with
my
dad,
like
music
taste
and
sense
of
humor,
but
sadly
reading
isn't
one
of
them.
I
can
happily
spend
a
whole
day
with
a
book,
but
my
dad
can't
read
a
book
for
longer
than
about
5
minutes.
He
reads
emails,
websites
and
papers
for
work,
but
not
books.
He's
busy,
so
I
think
sitting
down
to
read
for
just
15
minutes
a
day
is
a
good
way
to
relax
and
to
introduce
him
to
reading.
My
dad
is
not
the
only
person
who
avoids
books.
I
know
lots
of
people
would
rather
relax
on
their
computers
or
in
front
of
the
TV.
Everyone
is
different
and
has
their
own
interests,
but
I
think
there
are
lots
of
benefits
of
reading,
which
screen?based
activities
don't
have.
Firstly,
it's
better
for
your
eyes.
Looking
at
screens
can
be
very
stressful
for
your
eye
muscles,
and
clearly
you
should
avoid
looking
at
screens
for
an
hour
before
bed,
to
get
a
good
night's
sleep.
One
reason
why
I
personally
love
reading
is
that
I'm
being
transported
to
another
world

I
would
often
forget
the
time
or
things
around
me!
Reading
is
a
great
way
to
switch
off
before
you
go
to
bed,
because
you
think
more
about
the
world
of
the
book,
rather
than
the
real
world,
so
you
can
truly
relax.
I
know
you
can
be
transported
to
a
different
world
in
a
film
or
a
TV
show,
but
I
think
books
do
it
better.
I
also
enjoy
hearing
what
people
are
doing
and
finding
out
what
they
think.
Reading
gives
me
the
chance
to
get
to
know
hundreds
of
new
people!
It
also
teaches
you
to
see
things
from
other
people's
point
of
view,
and
understand
other
people's
decisions
or
opinions.
With
a
book,
you
can
hear
everything
a
character
is
thinking
or
feeling

you
really
can
be
inside
someone
else's
head!
So
give
it
a
go!
Take
15
minutes
when
you
are
waking
up,
going
to
bed,
eating
lunch,
or
having
a
coffee.
If
you
read
a
lot,
why
not
try
15
minutes
of
an
English
book,
or
pass
the
challenge
on
to
someone
else?
Good
luck,
and
happy
reading!

Ⅱ.阅读理解
A
Other
cultures
can
be
different
from
ours
in
many
aspects!
They
can
eat
different
foods
and
live
in
different
types
of
houses.
People
probably
speak
different
languages
and
have
beliefs
and
customs
very
different
from
yours.
However,
they
can
also
be
similar
in
ways
of
connecting
with
each
other.
We
sometimes
call
these
means
of
communication
universal
languages.
Some
legends
hold
that,
thousands
of
years
ago,
there
was
a
single
language
spoken
by
everyone
on
Earth.
It
is
fun
to
think
about
a
time
when
everyone
may
have
been
able
to
communicate
in
the
same
language
though
historical
evidence
does
not
support
this,_of
course.
Today,
there
are
thousands
of
languages
spoken
around
the
world.
Yet,
there
are
some
means
of
communication
that
go
beyond
words
and
allow
people
of
wildly
different
backgrounds
to
communicate
and
share
emotions
and
feelings.
For
example,
some
people
believe
music
is
a
universal
language.
There
may
be
some
scientific
support
for
this
idea,
too.
Experts
have
learnt
that,
across
cultures,
people
can
recognise
three
common
emotions
in
music:
happiness,
sadness
and
fear.
So
what
other
types
of
universal
languages
might
there
be?
Some
people
believe
dance
is
a
universal
language.
Along
with
music,
dancing
seems
to
be
a
common
interest
shared
by
peoples
all
over
the
world.
Do
you
think
you
could
see
a
dance
from
another
culture
and
make
some
reasonable
guesses
about
the
ideas
and
emotions
behind
it?
We
bet
you
could!
Another
universal
language
that
you
might
not
have
thought
of
is
maths!
If
you
think
about
it
now,
though,
it
just
makes
sense.
The
value
of
PI
is
roughly
3.14159
no
matter
where
you
are
on
Earth.
Likewise,
figuring
out
the
value
of
something
involves
the
same
mathematical
calculations,
regardless
of
whether
you're
counting
in
dollars,
pesos
or
coconuts.
1.What
does
the
underlined
word
“this”
in
Paragraph
2
probably
refer
to?
A.The
view
that
people
only
used
one
language.
B.The
fact
that
there
used
to
be
many
languages.
C.The
evidence
that
proves
old
languages
funny.
D.The
doubt
that
people
didn't
understand
each
other.
2.Why
is
music
regarded
as
a
universal
language?
A.It
can
be
enjoyed
by
people
from
all
walks
of
life.
B.It
can
be
understood
more
easily
than
languages.
C.It
usually
comes
from
different
backgrounds.
D.It
helps
people
to
share
common
feelings.
3.What
are
the
universal
languages
according
to
the
passage?
A.Maths,
English
and
music.
B.Music,
dance
and
maths.
C.History,
culture
and
music.
D.Emotion,
pi
and
music.
4.What

A.Various

Communication
History
B
No
one
is
sure
where
and
when
the
expression
“apple?pie
order”
began.
It's
said
that
the
housewives
of
New
England
liked
to
cut
their
apples
in
pieces.
Then
they
filled
pie
pans
with
them
in
an
organised
way,
row
upon
row.
As
one
writer
said,
the
women
of
New
England
loved
to
have
everything
in
its
place.
This
perhaps
explains
why
it
is
generally
believed
that
“apple?pie
order”
began
in
New
England.
Another
old
expression,
“apple
of
discord”,
comes
from
ancient
myth
(神话),
however.
The
myth
says
that
all
the
gods
and
goddesses
were
sitting
around
the
table
to
celebrate
the
marriage
of
Thetis
and
Peleus.
One
of
the
goddesses—Eris
was
a
troublemaker.
She
threw
a
golden
apple
on
the
table
to
be
given
as
a
prize
to
the
most
beautiful
goddess.
It
was
not
an
easy
decision
to
make.
How
could
they
choose
among
Hera,
Athena
and
Aphrodite?
Paris
was
given
the
task
of
deciding.
He
decided
to
give
the
golden
apple
to
Aphrodite.
Hera
and
Athena
were
very
angry
and
threatened
him.
This,
the
myth
says,
began
the
long
Trojan
War.
At
one
time,
the
tomato
was
called
a
love
apple.
That
was
a
mistake.
In
the
sixteenth
century,
Spain
brought
the
tomato
from
South
America.
Spain
then
sold
the
tomato
to
Morocco.
Italian
traders
carried
it
on
to
Italy.
The
Italian
name
for
the
tomato
was
“pomo
di
Moro”—apple
of
the
Moors.
When
French
growers
brought
it
in
from
Italy,
they
thought
“di
Moro”
meant
“d'amour”

the
French
word
for
love.
And
so
“pomo
di
Moro”
became
the
apple
of
love.
People
believe
many
things
about
the
apple.
One
belief
is
that
it
has
great
power
of
keeping
people
healthy.
A
very
common
expression
is
“An
apple
a
day
keeps
the
doctor
away.”
Another
belief
is
based
on
fact.
The
expression
is
“One
rotten
apple
spoils
the
barrel.”
When
an
apple
begins
to
go
bad,
it
ruins
all
the
other
apples
around
it
in
the
box.
The
expression
has
come
to
mean
that
one
bad
person
in
a
group
can
cause
everyone
to
act
badly.
5.Which
of
the
following
is
TRUE
about
the
phrase
“apple?pie
order”?
A.It
began
in
New
England.
B.Nobody's
sure
where
and
when
it
began.
C.Everyone
is
sure
where
it
began.
D.It
has
been
put
into
use
recently.
6.What's
the
meaning
of
“apple
of
discord”?
A.Cause
of
disagreement.
B.Situation
of
danger.
C.Everything
in
agreement.
D.Everything
in
good
order.
7.What's
the
purpose
of
the
third
paragraph?
A.To
show
us
a
mistaken
idea.
B.To
tell
us
a
love
story
about
apple.
C.To
explain
how
the
tomato
was
called
the
