Thirteen countries in the world have a huge population of over one hundred million. China has the largest population with about 1.4 billion. That’s almost one fifth of the world’s population.
The world’s population is growing faster and faster. How many babies are born every year in the world? Oh, hang on for a while. Let me have a look at my notes that I prepared last week. A report said that there are more than 131.4 million births every year in the world.
Population increase can cause lots of problems, such as the lack(缺乏) of food and fresh water, too much noise, too much traffic and less living space and so on. So some countries in the world are doing much work to control(控制) population growth. What’s your idea? Can you give us a report?

Hello, everyone! My name is Kate Hand. I’m from Blinten—a beautiful town. There were lots of beautiful flats in the town in the past. And it was very quiet. As the town developed quickly, it has brought lots of problems. Water pollution and air pollution were serious and rubbish was also a problem. Some local people moved to other towns or cities to work or live.
Five years ago, the local government began to do something to solve these problems. Some factories were closed down. People began to protect the environment and tried their best to make the town cleaner and more beautiful. New primary schools were built up and pupils could go to school more easily and safely. Public services were getting better and better.
Nowadays, Blinten is one of the most beautiful towns in our country. You’re welcome to visit it.
