this

fox

attracted
by
his
subject.The
clever
fox
was
so
curious
about
the
camera
equipment
that
she
climbed
on
top
of
it.And
while
she
was
supposed
to
be
the
subject
of
the
shoot,the
fox
stood
on
the
shutter
release
button(快门按钮)
and
took
her
own
frames.
Mr

visited
the
New
Forest
Wildlife
Park
to
capture
images
of
new
arrival
Jessie.Jessie
is
a
lovely
little
fox.She

to
wolves,deer

others
in
25
acres
of
ancient
woodland
after
being
abandoned
by
her

Mr

at
all
in
front
of
the
camera.Soon
after
I
arrived
she
was
chewing
my

everything
seemed
to
be
a
game
to
her.Then
she
started
exploring
the
camera
I
had
set
up
on
a
tripod(三脚架).She
stood
on
her

legs
to
look
at
the
back
of
the

paws
on

and
at

Jessie

jumped
back
up.At
one
point
she
had
all
four
paws
on
the
camera
and
was
keeping
her
balance.Mr
Czapp
added,“She
jumped
up
there
several
times
and
I
realized
it
could
make
a
good
picture.As
I
was
leaving
away
with
the
public’s
viewing
window(取景窗)
behind
me,I
thought
I
heard
the
camera
go
off
but
didn’t
think
much
of
it.However,when
I
checked
the
memory
card
afterwards,I
was
amazed
to
see
Jessie
had
actually
taken
two
frames
of
me
photographing
her.I
couldn’t
believe
I
had
been
outfoxed(智取)
by
a
fox!
There
were
some
lovely
photos
of
her
but
she
obviously
thought
the

C
Language
experts
say
that
spoken
English
was
almost
the
same
in
the
American
colonies
and
Britain
two
hundred
years
ago.Americans
began
to
change
the
sound
of
their
speech
after
the
Revolutionary
War
in
1776.They
wanted
to
make
it
different
to
separate
themselves
from
the
British
in
language,in
the
same
way
they
separated
themselves
from
the
British
government.
Some
American
leaders
proposed(建议)
major
changes
in
the
language.Benjamin
Franklin
wanted
a
whole
new
system
of
spelling.His
reforms(改革)
were
not
accepted.But
his
ideas
did
influence
others.One
was
Noah
Webster.
Webster
wrote
language
books
for
schools.He
believed
the
United
States
should
have
a
system
of
its
own
language
as
well
as
government.Webster
published
a
dictionary
of
the
American
language
in
1828.It
established
rules
for
speaking
and
spelling
the
words
used
in
American
English.
Webster
wrote
that
all
words
should
be
said
in
the
order
of
the
letters
that
spell
them.This
is
why
Americans
use
the
letters
“e?r”
to
end
many
words
instead
of
the
British
“r?e”.
He
spelled
the
word
“center,”
for
example,“c?e?n?t?e?r”,
instead
of
the
British
“c?e?n?t?r?e.”
Webster’s
rule
for
saying
every
part
of
a
word
made
American
English
easier
for
foreign
settlers
to
learn.They
learned
to
say
“waist?coat”,
for
example,the
way
it
is
spelled
instead
of
the
British
“wes?kit”.
The
different
languages
of
many
people
who
came
to
the
United
States
also
helped
make
American
and
British
English
different.Many
of
their
foreign
words
and
expressions
became
part
of
English
as
Americans
speak
them.
Sometimes
Americans
and
British
people
do
not
understand
each
other
because
of
different
word
meanings.For
example,the
word
“jumper”
in
Britain
means
a
sweater.In
the
United
States,it
is
a
dress.The
British
word
“brolly”
is
an
“umbrella”
in
America.And
the
British
call
potato
chips
“crisps”.All
of
these
differences
led
British
writer
George
Bernard
Shaw
to
joke
that
Britain
and
America
are
two
countries
separated
by
the
same
language!
28.What
does
the
underlined
word
“it”
in
the
first
paragraph
refer
to?
A.Separating
themselves
from
the
British
in
language.
B.Written
English
in
America.
C.Spoken
English
in
America.
D.Spoken
English
in
Britain.
29.Why
did
American
want
their
language
to
differ
from
British
English?
A.Because
they
found
British
English
hard
to
speak.
B.Because
they
found
British
English
hard
to
spell.
C.Because
they
wanted
to
have
their
own
language
and
government.
D.Because
foreign
settlers
wanted
them
to
change
their
language.
30.Why
do
Americans
use
the
word
“meter”
instead
of
the
word
“metre”?
A.Because
Benjamin
Franklin
didn’t
like
the
word
“metre”.
B.Because
the
word
“meter”
was
absorbed
from
other
languages.
C.Because
Webster
thought
the
word
should
be
said
in
the
order
of
the
letters
that
are
spelt.
D.Because
Webster
thought
American
English
should
be
made
easier
for
foreign
settlers
to
learn.
31.Which
of
the
following
is
NOT
one
of
the
reasons
why
English
began
to
change
in
America?
A.The
government
leaders.
B.Noah
Webster.
C.Immigration
to
America.
D.The
difficulty
Americans
had
in
understanding
the
British.
答案 CCCD
D
I
was
once
told,“You
are
wasting
your
time
on
a
career
that
will
give
you
no
money
or
comfort.”
I
explored
my
interests
for
years
and
finally
decided
to
be
a
journalist.However,I’m
still
influenced
by
others’
arguments:print
publications
are
being
replaced
by
web
versions
where
content
is
updated
nearly
every
time
you
refresh
the
browser.But
I
hold
onto
my
decision.Why?
For
the
simple,yet
powerful
reason
is
that
it
makes
me
happy
in
a
way
that
no
amount
of
money
ever
could.
Rarely
have
I
found
others
who
think
like
this,and
I
find
it
very
disappointing
when
I
hear
students
trying
to
design
their
lives
on
the
basis
of
factors(因素)
other
than
keeping
to
their
passions
and
interests.
Factor
number
one
is
parents.They
certainly
have
a
right
to
be
a
part
in
their
children’s
lives,but
sometimes
their
words
create
more
stress
than
encouragement.Instead
of
trying
to
make
their
children
happy,as
their
original
purpose
may
have
been,parents
can
end
up
limiting
their
children’s
dreams
and
desires
until
nothing
remains
but
the
hard
seeds
of
a
cruel
reality.
The
second
factor
is
money.I
had
a
conversation
with
my
college
friend
one
afternoon,which
explains
this
point.
“What
happened?”
I
asked
him
after
he
said
he
had
changed
his
major.“I
thought
you
wanted
to
be
a
photographer.”
“I
do,”
he
said,“But
there
is
no
money
in
it.”“Don’t
worry,”
he
added,probably
feeling
my
worry.“I’m
happy
where
I
am.”
I
was
ready
to
believe
that,but
as
we
kept
on
talking,he
continuously
interrupted
me
to
point
out
the
beauty
of
this
view
and
that
view,saying
he
wished
he
had
taken
his
camera
with
him.
Naturally,we
cannot
predict
where
we
will
end
up
with
our
choices.Our
ideas
and
plans
could
change
as
we
progress.However,at
this
stage
in
our
lives
when
so
many
voices
are
telling
us
who
we
should
be,we
need
to
value
our
individual
dreams,not
to
abandon
them,because
they
may
be
the
only
things
left
that
tell
us
who
we
are.
32.Why
is
the
author
determined
to
be
a
journalist?
A.He
could
get
a
high
pay.
B.He
is
influenced
by
others.
C.He
is
truly
interested
in
journalism.
D.He
has
been
studying
journalism
for
years.
33.What
does
the
author
think
of
parents’
role
in
their
children’s
career
choice?
A.They
shouldn’t
try
to
influence
their
children
in
any
way.
B.They
help
their
children
make
the
right
choice
of
a
career.
C.They
should
support
their
children
whatever
they
choose.
D.They
may
destroy
their
children’s
dreams
of
a
certain
career.
34.What
do
we
know
about
the
author’s
friend?
A.He
doesn’t
care
about
what
his
job
will
bring
him.
B.He
is
still
deeply
interested
in
photography.
C.He
has
lost
his
confidence
in
his
abilities.
D.He
is
doubtful
about
his
new
choice.
35.The
author
thinks
that
when
choosing
a
career,
.
A.one
should
not
consider
their
individual
dreams
B.one
should
take
a
lot
of
factors
into
consideration
C.one’s
desires
and
interests
should
come
first
D.one
should
be
realistic
about

on.A
voice
came.“Nice

I
smiled
from

another

43
,“I

she
told
him.That
night,Mom
told
my
dad
that
she
couldn’t
just
clean
any
more;she
knew
her
life’s
achievement
was
something
44
,so
she
decided
to
find
another
job.
The
next
morning
she
met
with
the
personnel
manager
at
the
Board
of
Education.He
told
her
that
without
a
proper
education
she
could
not
teach.So
Mom
decided
to
45
a
university.
After
the
first
year

went
back
to
the

manager.He
said,“Are

five
years,as
a
teacher’s
assistant,she
saw
teacher

the
children

one
day,the
personnel
manager
and
the
principal
showed

in
her
classroom.The
principal
said,“We
have
watched
how
you
51

how
they
communicate
with
you,and
we
52
your
hard?working
spirit
over
the
last
five

that
you
should
be
the
teacher
of
this
class.”
My
mom
54
more
than
twenty
years
there.During
her
career,she
was
voted
Teacher
of
the
Year.All
of
this
came
about
because
of
the
bad
comment
made
in
my
classroom
that
day.Mom
showed
me
how
to
handle
55
situations
and
never
give
up.
