Learning
music
is
important
for
the
educational
and
personal
development
of
young
people!
Learning
an
instrument:
how
do
pupils
choose?
All
our
teachers
are
highly
qualified
and
experienced
musicians,
and
pupils
can
learn
to
play
a
wide
range
of
instruments,
from
the
keyboard
to
the
drums
(鼓).
We
have
open
days
when
new
pupils
who
are
unsure
which
instrument
to
choose
can
come
to
the
centre.
They
are
able
to
speak
to
teachers
about
which
instrument
might
be
best
for
them,
and
they
can
also
see
and
hear
classes
in
action.
Who
is
responsible
for
buying
the
instruments?
Parents
usually
have
to
provide
instruments.
But
parents
of
beginners
are
advised
not
to
buy
an
instrument
until
they
are
told
that
a
place
is
available.
They
should
also
find
out
from
the
teachers
the
most
suitable
type
of
instrument
to
get.
When
and
where
do
lessons
take
place?
Lessons
are
available
in
many
schools,
usually
during
the
day.
If
there
is
no
lesson
available
for
a
particular
instrument
in
a
particular
school,
other
arrangements
can
be
made
at
one
of
our
music
centres
for
lessons
on
Saturday
afternoons
or
weekday
evenings.
How
are
pupils
taught?
Pupils
can
learn
in
small
groups,
in
classes
or
individually,
depending
on
their
needs.
Small
groups
of
three
pupils
have
lessons
that
last
thirty
minutes.
Class
lessons
last
forty-five
minutes
and
have
at
least
ten
pupils.
Individual
lessons
are
offered
only
to
pupils
who
have
some
experience.
Starting
young:
when
can
pupils
begin?
Children
are
never
too
young
to
become
interested
in
music.
We
have
special
“Musical
Youth”
classes
for
children
from
the
age
of
3
to
8.
These
are
designed
to
encourage
young
children
to
enjoy
music
through
a
variety
of
activities
including
singing,
musical
games,
listening
and
movement.
“Musical
Youth”
classes
take
place
on
Saturday
mornings
with
groups
of
about
18
children.
A
parent
or
other
adult
must
attend
each
session,
and
they
are
encouraged
to
sit
with
their
children
and
help
them
with
the
activities.

B
On
March
10,
2019,
eight-year-old
Tanitoluwa
“Tani”
Adewumi
defeated
73
young
competitors
to
win
the
New
York
State
Scholastic
Chess
Championship
in
his
age
group—kindergarten
to
third
grade—with
five
wins
and
one
draw.
While
the
achievement
is
remarkable
in
itself,
what
is
even
more
so
is
that
the
youngster,
who
was
homeless
at
the
time,
began
learning
the
game
less
than
a
year
ago.
Tani
and
his
family
arrived
in
New
York
City
from
Nigeria
in
2017,
seeking
religious
protection.
A
church
pastor
(牧师)
helped
find
the
family
of
four
space
in
a
homeless
shelter
in
Manhattan
and,
soon
after,
Tani
entered
the
local
elementary
school.
It
was
here
that
the
young
talent
was
first
introduced
to
the
basics
of
chess
by
a
part-time
teacher.
Attracted
by
the
game,
the
then
seven-year-old
begged
his
mother,
Oluwatoyin,
to
allow
him
to
join
the
school’s
chess
club.
The
family
were
concerned
that
they
would
be
unable
to
afford
the
fees
and
expenses,
which
add
up
to
thousands
of
dollars
due
to
travel
and
chess
competition
admissions,
Oluwatoyin
e-mailed
chess
instructor
Russell
Makofsky,
who
ran
the
club.
To
her
surprise
and
delight,
Makofsky
agreed
to
waive
all
costs
for
young
Tani.
The
rest,
as
they
say,
is
history.
The
young
boy,
who
has
got
seven
prizes
in
less
than
a
year,
currently
ranks
27
in
America
in
his
age
group.?
Though
the
chess
club
certainly
helps,
Tani’s
success
can
be
largely
owed
to
the
efforts
he
has
put
into
the
game.
The
chess
talent
practises
the
game
for
several
hours
a
day
either
on
the
floor
with
his
board,
or
online,
using
his
dad’s
laptop.
Every
Saturday,
Tani
and
his
mother
head
to
Harlem
for
a
free
3-hour
class
to
help
further
sharpen
his
game
skills.
Not
surprisingly,
Tani’s
incredible
story,
first
reported
by
The
New
York
Times,
has
resulted
in
an
outpouring
of
support
from
the
American
public.
Shortly
after
the
young
boy
won
the
New
York
State
Championship,
Makofsky
began
a
GoFundMe
campaign
for
Tani
and
his
family
to
“secure
a
home
where
he
can
continue
on
his
journey”.
And
the
heartwarming
story
gets
even
better!
Since
they
now
have
a
home,
the
family
have
decided
to
“pay
it
forward”
and
donate
the
over
$200,000
collected
on
GoFundMe
to
African
immigrants
in
America
who
are
struggling
the
way
the
family
was.

Tani’s
achievement
especially
remarkable?

Imagine
a
school
where
self-awareness
is
celebrated,
students
are
encouraged
to
solve
maths
problems
by
writing
on
the
walls
and
applying
learned
lessons
to
real
life
is
more
important
than
homework.
These
are
a
few
of
the
concepts
that
make
Space
of
Mind
School
unique.
Located
in
a
home
built
in
1896
in
Florida,
US,
the
programme
serves
students
in
grades
2
through
12
and
will
accept
kindergarten
students
next
year.
It
also
offers
an
after-school
programme
for
students
who
attend
traditional
schools,
as
well
as
evening
programmes
for
adults
and
educators
and
weekend
events
for
families.
There
is
a
different
atmosphere
from
that
of
a
traditional
school
building.
Tables
and
brightly
coloured
walls
are
white
boards.
In
the
science
room,
students
are
studying
climate
changes
at
a
weather
station,
while
in
the
music
room,
a
student
is
solving
an
equation
(等式)
with
his
academic
coach
while
he
connects
music
theory
and
maths.
The
daily
schedule
at
the
school
also
stands
out.
“We
don’t
assign
boring
or
exhausting
homework,”
said
Space
of
Mind
founder
and
CEO
Ali
Kaufman.
“Instead
of
homework,
we
ask
that
they
go
home
and
take
a
video
of
themselves
applying
a
lesson
they
learned
or
cooking
a
meal
for
their
family
that
they
learned
how
to
make
at
school.”
For
lunch,
instead
of
traditional
cafeteria
dishes
such
as
pizza,
the
school
offers
organic
meals
made
out
of
products
from
local
gardens
and
farms.
“Our
students
also
run
a
business
at
the
Delray
Beach
Greenmarket
on
Saturdays
so
they
can
understand
sustainable
living
practices
and
how
to
run
a
business,”
Kaufman
said.
“We
are
also
the
first
school
programme
in
Florida
to
start
and
end
each
day
with
15
minutes
of
meditation
(冥想),”
Kaufman
said.
“The
positive
results
we
have
been
seeing
in
the
students
from
meditation
are
amazing.
We
are
really
about
infusing
social,
emotional
and
creative
skills
with
academic
and
life
skills.”

( )9.What
can
be
inferred
from
the

paragraph?
A.Yoga
enjoys
great
popularity
in
US.
B.The
practice
of
meditation
is
amazing.
C.The
meditation
session
lasts
15
minutes
daily.
D.The

( )10.The
underlined
word
“infusing”
in
the
last
paragraph
probably
means
“ ”.?
A.emphasizing
B.checking
C.developing
D.helping
( )11.What
is
the
text
mainly
about?
A.What
makes
Space
of
Mind
School
outstanding.
B.Why
Space
of
Mind
School
is
popular
in
US.
C.How
the
after-class
programmes
of
Space
of
Mind
School
are
organized.
D.How
Space
of
Mind
School
cultivates
students’
life
skills.
D
People
generally
see
themselves
through
achievements.
In
doing
that,
they
end
up
caring
more
about
their
image
than
the
reality
of
who
they
actually
are.
Rather
than
their
performance
at
work,
they
end
up
defining
themselves
by
external
markers
that
they
hope
will
earn
them
respect.
The
problem
with
this
is
that
it
encourages
both
themselves
and
other
people
to
judge
their
worth
based
on
some
relatively
unimportant
measure.
For
example,
one
day,
their
educational
diploma
may
overshadow
what
they
actually
learned.
Therefore,
a
better
way
to
know
a
person,
I
think,
is
to
ask
a
different
set
of
questions:
What
motivates
them?
What
makes
them
ache?
What
do
they
long
for?
It’s
in
this
spirit
that
I
want
to
publicly
share
my
values.
They
are
the
compass
(罗盘)
that
guides
my
life.
The
kindest
and
most
sincere
thing
I
can
do
is
to
see,
recognize,
and
understand
another
person
before
I
make
judgements.
From
there,
I
can
learn
to
treat
others
appropriately,
depending
on
the
context,
learning
from
my
mistakes
with
time
and
experience.
It’s
just
a
reminder
that
life
is
hard
for
all
of
us,
while
at
the
same
time
accepting
that
it’s
important
we
are
all
also
held
accountable
for
our
actions.
I
have
learned
that
we
are
all
deeply
self-interested.
I
hope
to
be
self-aware
enough
to
check
out
of
the
power
and
status
games.
That
means
I’m
not
competing
with
anyone
for
a
shiny
object;
I’d
rather
compete
with
myself.
It’s
about
becoming
so
uniquely
different
that
it
would
be
an
insult
for
me
to
measure
myself
against
someone
else.
I
believe
if
I
do
the
work
to
be
internally
free
from
the
pull
of
the
power
and
status
games,
then
I
can
add
value
to
others
based
on
my
unique
knowledge
and
experience.
If
this
resonates
with
(与……共鸣)you,
I
invite
you
to
join
me
on
this
journey
in
understanding
and
relating
to
this
complex
world.
It’s
a
wonderful
mystery,
and
I
think
together
we
can
better
define
it—not
just
personally,
but
also
collectively.

Life
lessons
Life
is
not
easy
when
you
are
pursuing
something
worthwhile
and
ready
to
learn
from
the
best
experiences.16.
Here
are
some
life
lessons
which
people
will
learn
the
hard
way
in
majority
of
cases.?
It
takes
consistent
time
and
effort
to
be
successful
in
any
area.
However,
people
usually
get
discouraged
when
it
takes
more
time
than
they
thought
it
would.
At
this
time,
people
refer
only
to
people
who
have
already
achieved
what
you
want
to
be,
which
most
people
fail
to
do.
Look
at
any
successful
person
and
you’ll
notice
one
thing
common
in
all
of
them.
They
took
time
to
learn
and
mastered
their
skills
like
no
one
else.17. ?
Be
brave
to
take
the
road
less
travelled.
In
our
whole
life,
we
always
want
to
follow
the
same
path
that
everyone
suggests,
do
the
same
things
everyone
does,
take
the
same
career
path
everyone
takes,
wear
the
same
clothes
everyone
wears,
and
hang
out
with
the
same
people
we
work
with.18.
But
when
you
get
bored
of
life,
you
will
realize
that
you
are
not
meant
to
do
what
everyone
does
and
that
your
destiny
is
different
from
anyone
else’s
out
there
in
the
world.
But
the
price
you
pay
to
realize
this
is
high
because
it
takes
a
great
amount
of
courage
to
follow
your
own
path.?
You
don’t
have
to
live
your
life
in
a
way
society
wants
you
to.
19.
Parents
sometimes
force
their
children
to
select
a
career
they
don’t
want
because
other
children
have
selected
that
career.
Worst
of
all
people
follow
them
without
even
asking.
There
is
no
harm
in
old
rituals
(惯例)
and
beliefs
but
when
you
pursue
them
before
your
interest,
sooner
or
later
you’ll
realize
that
you
should
first
do
what
you
think
is
right.?
20.
However,
if
you
are
smart
enough
to
learn
early
and
wish
not
to
waste
your
precious
time
learning
them
the
hard
way,
learn
them
now
and
apply
them
to
your
life
as
soon
as
possible.?
A.You
have
to
break
the
rules
sometimes.
B.After
all,
life
lessons
are
always
learned
the
hard
way.
C.There
is
no
elevator
to
success;
you
have
to
take
the
stairs.
D.The
reason
why
we
follow
others
is
that
we
are
scared
to
fail.
E.It
always
takes
tests
and
then
fails
us
to
learn
anything
worthwhile.
F.The
general
rule
goes
that
the
harder
you
try,
the
greater
results
you
get.
G.Many
old
beliefs
are
being
performed
these
days
and
are
followed
blindly.

第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
When
I
was
a
child
my
father
taught
me
five
words:
stand
porter
to
your
mind.
I’ve
used
it
all
my
life—in
my
acting
career,
as
a
mother,
and
in
my
21
activities.
Nowadays
this
phrase
might
seem
old-fashioned,
but
it
still
22 .?
A
porter
is
a
gatekeeper,
someone
who
stands
at
a
door
letting
people
in
or
out.
Dad
would
get
me
to
picture
myself
stopping
23
things—such
as
fear—at
the
door,
but
saying
“Come
in”
to
faith,
love
and
24 .?
As
an
actress,
before
I
went
on
camera,
I’d
make
sure
anxiety
stayed
out
and
confidence
in
my
ability
25 .
And
as
a
mother,
when
I
was
anxious
about
my
children,
I
would
try
not
to
let
worry
in
but
would
fill
my
mind
with
26
in
them.?
Of
course,
there
were
always
times
when
I’d
27
those
words.
I
remember
one
time
28 .
In
1972
my
husband
and
I
opened
our
own
hotel.
This
was
a
new
business
venture
for
us,
and
it
was
more
29
than
we
had
figured.
Something
was
30
going
wrong.
Once,
a
flu
epidemic
(流感)
suddenly
left
us
with
no
maids.
Then
there
was
the
energy
crisis.
The
price
of
gasoline
doubled,
and
tourism
in
California
31 .
How
could
we
fill
our
beds?
What
if
we
kept
32
money?
Here
I
was
at
the
front
desk
of
the
hotel,
and
those
old
uninvited
guests,
fear
and
worry,
were
sneaking
in.
But
I
33
them
just
in
time.
I
stood
porter.
I
stood
in
the
door
of
my
mind
and
sent
fear
packing.?
These
days
at
the
hotel,
whenever
fear
tries
to
34 ,
I
just
smile
and
point
to
the
35
that
reads
No
Vacancy.?

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
Bales
left
the
pavement
of
Base
Road
and
stepped
onto
snow-covered
Jewell
Trail.
She
planned
a
six-hour
hike
through
New
Hampshire’s
Mount
Washington
State
Park.
She
had
packed
for
almost
every
emergency
and
intended
to
walk
alone.
She’d
checked
the
weather
forecast
posted
by
the
Mount
Washington
Observatory
before
she
left.
Based
on
her
experience,
Bales
knew
that
her
hike
was
realistic.
Besides,
she
had
two
emergency
plans
and
extra
layers
of
clothing
to
better
adjust
her
body
temperature
as
conditions
changed.
The
hike
up
the
lower
part
of
Jewell
Trail
was
pleasant.
Bales
felt
excited
as
she
walked
up
into
snowy
paths.
The
sun
shone
through
the
trees
and
cast
a
shadow
over
her
smiling
face.
Less
than
an
hour
later,
loads
of
dark
clouds
had
replaced
the
sunshine,
and
snow
covered
the
surrounding
trees.
She
still
smiled.
However,
the
weather
was
showing
its
teeth.
Bales
added
even
more
layers
to
shelter
herself
from
the
cold
winds
and
thick
fog.
She
made
her
way
across
the
snow-covered
ridge
(山脊)towards
Mount
Washington
and
began
to
think
about
calling
it
a
day.
Suddenly,
she
noticed
something:
a
single
set
of
footprints
in
the
snow
ahead
of
her,
which
had
been
made
by
a
pair
of
sneakers—typically
not
the
type
for
hiking.
Meanwhile,
Bales
was
getting
colder,
even
though
she
was
moving
fast
and
generating
some
body
heat.
With
strong
gusts
of
wind
screaming
and
attacking
her
back
and
left
side,
she
decided
to
abandon
her
plan.
The
only
thing,
however,
kept
her
on
the
trail
was
the
sneaker
tracks
in
the
snow.
Paragraph
1:
Bales
faced
a
dilemma
about
whether
to
follow
the
tracks
or
not.

Paragraph
2:
Her
searching
now
turned
into
rescuing
the

参考答案
第一部分
第一节
A
【文章大意】
本文是一篇应用文,介绍了一个音乐学习机构的相关信息。
1.A 细节理解题。根据第一个小标题中的“We
have
open
days
when
new
pupils
who
are
unsure
which
instrument
to
choose
can
come
to
the
centre.
They
are
able
to
speak
to
teachers
about
which
instrument
might
be
best
for
them,
and
they
can
also
see
and
hear
classes
in
action.”可知,新来的学生可以在开放日听课。故选A项。
2.B 细节理解题。根据倒数第二个小标题中的“Individual
lessons
are
offered
only
to
pupils
who
have
some
experience.”可知,对有经验的孩子来说,单独授课是最好的选择。故选B项。
3.B 推理判断题。根据最后一个小标题中的“A
parent
or
other
adult
must
attend
each
session,
and
they
are
encouraged
to
sit
with
their
children
and
help
them
with
the
activities.”可知,这篇文章主要是为父母写的。故选B项。
B
【文章大意】
本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了一个八岁的孩子Tanitoluwa
“Tani”
Adewumi在2019年赢得纽约州象棋冠军的故事。
4.B 细节理解题。由第一段中的“While
the
achievement
is
remarkable
in
itself,
what
is
even
more
so
is
that
the
youngster,
who
was
homeless
at
the
time,
began
learning
the
game
less
than
a
year
ago.”(尽管这项成绩本身就很令人瞩目,但尤甚的是这个当时无家可归的少年学习这个比赛项目还不到一年的时间。)可知,令这项成绩显得尤为不平凡的是他仅仅学习了不到一年的时间,即学习得很快。故选B项。
5.C 句意猜测题。由第二段中的“The
family
were
concerned
that
they
would
be
unable
to
afford
the
fees
and
expenses…”和“…Oluwatoyin
e-mailed
chess
instructor
Russell
Makofsky,
who
ran
the
club.”可知,Tani的家人担心无法支付他学象棋的费用和开支;而Russell
Makofsky经营这家俱乐部同时还是一位象棋教练。结合本段的上下文以及第三段中的“Though
the
chess
club
certainly
helps…”可知,Makofsky同意免费教Tani,故选C项。
6.C 段落大意题。根据文章第三段,尤其是其中的“…Tani’s
success
can
be
largely
owed
to
the
efforts
he
has
put
into
the
game.”,“…practises
the
game
for
several
hours
a
day…”和“…head
to
Harlem
for
a
free
3-hour
class…”可知,本段主要说明了Tani在象棋方面的专注和投入,故选C项。
7.A 推理判断题。根据最后一段,尤其是其中的“And
the
heartwarming
story
gets
even
better!”及“…donate
the
over
$200,000…”可知,Tani一家人是很有爱心的。故选A项。
C
【文章大意】
本文是一篇说明文,介绍了Space
of
Mind
School一些独特的理念和做法。这些理念和做法使得Space
of
Mind
School与众不同。
8.B 细节理解题。根据第一段“Imagine
a
school
where
self-awareness
is
celebrated,
students
are
encouraged
to
solve
maths
problems
by
writing
on
the
walls
and
applying
learned
lessons
to
real
life
is
more
important
than
homework.
These
are
a
few
of
the
concepts
that
make
Space
of
Mind
School
unique.”可知,Space
of
Mind
School推崇自我意识,学生们被鼓励通过在墙上写字来解决数学问题,并将学到的知识应用到实际生活中。故选B项。
9.D 推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“‘The
positive
results
we
have
been
seeing
in
the
students
from
meditation
are
amazing.’”可知,我们从学生身上看到的冥想的积极效果是惊人的。由此可知,冥想是有好处的。故选D项。
10.C 词义猜测题。根据最后一段最后一句尤其其中with及全文大概意思可知,Space
of
Mind
School独特的教学方式和冥想体验使学生将所学用于生活实践,用“学术和生活技能”来使“社交、情感和创新技能”得到提升,因此infuse意思接近于“提升;增强”,与C项意思相近。故选C项。
11.A 主旨大意题。第一段介绍了一些使得Space
of
Mind
School独一无二的理念。第二段是对Space
of
Mind
School的简介。第三段介绍的是Space
of
Mind
School与众不同的氛围。第四段介绍的是它独特的日程安排。第五段介绍的是其独特的午餐。最后一段介绍了其首创的冥想活动。这些都使得Space
of
Mind
School与众不同,独一无二。综上,文章主要介绍了使得Space
of
Mind
School突出的因素。故选A项。
D
【文章大意】
本文是一篇议论文。文章分享了作者自己是如何理解这个世界的。
12.A 细节理解题。根据第一段内容,尤其是“People
generally
see
themselves
through
achievements.”和“…defining
themselves
by
external
markers
…”可知人们通常通过他人的成就来评价他人,故选A项。
13.C 词意猜测题。综合第二段可知,这样做的问题在于,它会鼓励他们自己和他人根据一些相对不重要的标准来判断自己的价值。由此可推测,画线词意为“掩盖,认为……更显眼”,即教育文凭使实际学到的东西变得没那么重要。故选C项。
14.A 细节理解题。根据第四段内容,尤其是“I
hope
to
be
self-aware
enough
to
check
out
of
the
power…”和“I’d
rather
compete
with
myself.”可知,作者认为人们应该有很强的自我意识,并且同自己竞争,故A项正确。
15.D 写作意图题。综合全文,尤其根据第三段中的“It’s
in
this
spirit
that
I
want
to
publicly
share
my
values.”可知本文作者的目的是同读者分享自己对世界的理解,故D项正确。
第二节
【文章大意】
本文是一篇说明文,介绍了需要费一番周折才能学到的五个生活教训。
16.E 根据空前“Life
is
not
easy
when
you
are
pursuing
something
worthwhile
and
ready
to
learn
from
the
best
experiences.”以及空后“Here
are
some
life
lessons
which
people
will
learn
the
hard
way
in
majority
of
cases.”可知,当你想追寻值得做的事情并准备从最好的经历中学习时,生活并不是简单的。下面的这些教训,
大部分的情况下人们都是费一番周折才会学到。E项意为“它总是测试我们,
让我们通过失败来学习有价值的东西”,能够承上启下,符合语境。
17.C 根据空前“Look
at
any
successful
person
and
you’ll
notice
one
thing
common
in
all
of
them.
They
took
time
to
learn
and
mastered
their
skills
like
no
one
else.”可知,随便观察一个成功的人,
你就会发现成功人士的共同点。他们都比常人努力,
花时间去学习并掌握技能。故空格处是对上几句的总结,来说明成功的途径。
C项“通往成功的路上没有电梯,
你只能去一级一级爬楼梯”符合语境。
18.D 根据空前“In
our
whole
life,
we
always
want
to
follow
the
same
path
that
everyone
suggests,
do
the
same
things
everyone
does,
take
the
same
career
path
everyone
takes,
wear
the
same
clothes
everyone
wears,
and
hang
out
with
the
same
people
we
work
with.”可知,我们按着别人建议的道路去走,做别人做的事情,走别人走的职业路线,穿和别人一样的衣服,和同事一起出去玩。故空格处要说明这么做的原因。
D项“我们总是跟随别人的原因是我们害怕失败。”符合语境。
19.G 根据空后“Parents
sometimes
force
their
children
to
select
a
career
they
don’t
want
because
other
children
have
selected
that
career.”可知,父母们有时会强迫孩子选择孩子不喜欢的专业就因为其他孩子选择了那个专业。故空格处要与后句一同说明社会上一些不好的风气。G项“许多老的观念最近又开始流行,
人们盲目地跟风”符合语境。
20.B 根据空后“However,
if
you
are
smart
enough
to
learn
early
and
wish
not
to
waste
your
precious
time
learning
them
the
hard
way,
learn
them
now
and
apply
them
to
your
life
as
soon
as
possible.”可知,然而,
如果你足够聪明想早点儿学到它们,
不想把宝贵的时间浪费在费劲去学这些教训上,
那么你现在就可以学习它们,
并可以尽早把它们用到你的生活中。故空格处与后一句为转折关系。B项“毕竟,生活中的教训总是需费一番周折才能学到。”符合语境。
第二部分
第一节
【文章大意】
作者分享了她父亲跟她说的一句话——“做你思想的守门人”对她的深刻影响。

a
new
business
venture
for
us…”可知,应选择C项。school学校;family家庭;business商业,生意;association协会。
22.A 句意:如今,这句话似乎过时了,但它仍然是有意义的。故选择A项。make
sense有意义;pay
off还清,获得回报;keep
up跟上,保持,继续;come
out出来,出版。
23.A 根据fear可知此处指“把造成破坏的东西挡在门外”,应选A项。destructive造成破坏的;reliable可靠的,可信赖的;productive多产的,富有成效的;suitable合适的。
24.B 由本句句意和下一段第一句中的confidence可知,应选B项。progress进步,进展;confidence信心;truth真相,事实;interest兴趣。
25.B 根据上一段的最后一句话和该空前面的stayed
out可知,应选B项。“我”要确保焦虑在外面,而让对“我”能力的自信进来。
26.A 根据本句中anxious和not
to
let
worry
in可知,此处为转折,选A项。trust信任;disappointment失望;sadness悲伤;delight快乐,乐趣。
27.D 有时候“我”会忘记那些词。remember记得;expect期望,期待,预料;understand理解,明白;forget忘记。
28.B 句意:我尤其记得有这么一次。in
contrast相反地;in
particular尤其;in
general总的来说;in
vain
徒劳地。
29.D 句意:这对我们来说是一次新的商业冒险,比我们想象的要求还要高。应选D项。adventurous刺激的,有冒险精神的;rewarding值得做的,有益的,报酬高的;appropriate合适的,恰当的;demanding要求高的。
30.A 根据后文可知事情“总是”出错。always一直,总是;rarely罕见地,难得地;ever曾经;simply简单地,仅仅。

35.D 参考上一题句意。signal信号;picture图片;word文字;sign牌子。
第二节

37.disability
考查词形转换。此处应使用名词,learning

38.to
express
考查非谓语动词。a
chance
to
do

good
at
doing
sth意为“变得擅长做某事”,故填producing。
