A
The
world’s
oceans
are
some
of
the
most
interesting
and
breathtaking
places
on
the
entire
planet.
A
lot
of
these
oceans
have
witnessed
a
variety
of
disappearances
and
other
mysteries,
most
of
which
cannot
and
have
not
been
explained
by
modern
science.
Here
are
some
interesting
unsolved
sea
mysteries
of
the
world.
USS
Scorpion
In
February
1969,
the
USS
Scorpion,
an
American
submarine,
departed
from
Norfolk,
Virginia,
on
its
way
towards
the
Mediterranean.
The
crew
had
almost
a
decade
of
experience,
and
yet
the
sub
disappeared
and
broke
into
pieces
on
the
sea
floor.
There
were
99
men
aboard
the
sub,
all
of
whom
lost
their
lives.
Baltic
Sea
Sub
In
the
later
half
of
2014
a
mysterious
vessel(

)
was
spotted
by
Swedish
citizens,
many
of
whom
described
it
as
a
Russian
submarine,
in
the
Baltic
Sea.
The
military
spent
much
time
in
investigating,
but
found
no
sign
of
the
mysterious
sub.
The
search
was
named
“the
hunt
for
Reds
in
October”.
Bermeja
Island
During
the
1970s,
Bermeja
Island
served
as
a
bit
of
a
marker
for
Mexico
and
their
economic
zone.
Around
20
years
later,
the
island
disappeared
without
any
sign.
Along
with
the
island,
numerous
important
documents
about
major
oil
reserves
also
went
missing.
Gulf
of
Mexico
Shipwreck
In
2001,
Exxon
Mobil
was
laying
pipelines
in
the
Gulf
of
Mexico
when
they
ran
into
a
shipwreck
around
2,600
feet
under
the
surface.
Upon
exploring
the
shipwreck,
archaeologists
believed
it
to
be
a
terrible
spell,
as
something
would
constantly
go
wrong
when
they
went
down
to
explore.
SS
Edmund
Fitzgerald
Lake
Superior
is
so
large
that
it
behaves
like
an
inland
ocean,
including
terrific
storms.
In
November
1975,
one
such
storm
struck
the
vessel
SS
Edmund
Fitzgerald,
which
was
headed
to
Detroit.
The
Fitzgerald
disappeared
after
communications
were
lost.
A
week
later,
a
sonar(
声呐)
ship
found
the
vessel
500
feet
under
the
water.
Not
one
body
was
found,
though.
( )1.Why
does
the
author
think
of
USS
Scorpion
as
a
mystery?
A.Because
99
men
died
aboard
the
sub.
B.Because
it
lost
its
way
towards
the
Mediterranean.
C.Because
the
sub
still
sank
even
with
experienced
crew.
D.Because
there
is
no
information
of
the
unknown
sub.
( )2.What
do
Baltic
Sea
Sub
and
Gulf
of
Mexico
Shipwreck
have
in
common?
A.Both
are
highly
put
on
a
bad
spell.
B.Both
the
names
of
the
vessels
are
unknown.
C.Both
are
found
on
the
beaches.
D.Both
are
said
to
be
Russian
vessels.
( )3.Which
mystery
is
different
from
the
others?
A.SS
Edmund
Fitzgerald.
B.Bermeja
Island.
C.Gulf
of
Mexico
Shipwreck.
D.USS
Scorpion.

A
small
supermarket
is
decorated
with
a
lot
of
red
lanterns.
There
are
piles
of
red
envelopes
on
sale,
for
filling
with
cash
and
handing
out
as
gifts.
Such
festive
trappings
can
be
seen
everywhere
in
China
in
the
build-up
to
the
Lunar
New
Year.
But
this
is
Yangon,
the
former
capital
of
Myanmar,
where
Han
Chinese
are
a
mere
2.5%
of
the
country’s
population.
They
are
a
sign
that
Chinese
New
Year
is
becoming
a
global
holiday.
Several
countries
in
Asia
celebrate
the
Lunar
New
Year
in
their
own
way.
But
dragon
and
lion
dances
in
Chinatowns
over
the
world
have
helped
make
China’s
the
most
famous.
In
Tokyo,
window
cleaners
dress
up
as
the
animals
of
the
Chinese
zodiac
(生肖).America,
Canada
and
New
Zealand
have
issued
commemorative
stamps
for
the
Year
of
the
Rooster.
Last
year
New
York
City
made
the
Lunar
New
Year
a
school
holiday
for
the
first
time.
The
spread
of
the
Spring
Festival,
as
China
calls
it,
is
partly
due
to
recent
emigration(移民)
from
China:
9.5
million
Chinese
people
have
moved
abroad
since
1978,
many
of
whom
are
far
richer
than
earlier
waves
of
migrants.
It
also
reflects
the
wealth
and
ambitions
of
China’s
new
middle
class:
festivities
in
other
countries
are
partly
aimed
at
the
6
million
Chinese
who
are
expected
to
spend
their
week-long
holiday
abroad
this
year.
It’s
hoped
that
the
festival
will
promote
China’s
cultural
“soft
power”
abroad.
So
related
events
are
welcomed,
such
as
a
display
this
year
of
martial
arts
in
Cyprus
and
a
traditional
Chinese
temple
fair
in
Harare,
Zimbabwe.
More
and
more
Chinese
are
glad
to
see
foreigners
enjoy
such
festivities.
Though
there
is
a
growing
enthusiasm
among
Chinese
for
Western
celebrations
such
as
Christmas,
Chinese
New
Year
is
a
welcome
chance
to
reverse(逆转)
the
cultural
flow.

( )5.What
are
the
best-known
celebration

Barcelona’s
famous
Sagrada
Familia
is
finally
set
to
get
a
building
licence
to
work
on
the
still
uncompleted
church.
This
UNESCO
World
Heritage
basilica(大教堂),which
is
Barcelona’s
most
visited
tourist
attraction,began
building
in
1882
based
on
a
design
by
architect
Francisco
Lozano.
However,when
he
stepped
down,architect
Antoni
Gaudi
took
over
the
design
in
1883.The
building
won’t
be
finished
until
2026—one
hundred
years
after
the
architect
was
killed
by
a
streetcar
in
the
city.
His
body
was
buried
in
a
room
under
the
floor
of
the
Sagrada
Familia.
To
get
its
paperwork
rubber-stamped,the
church
authorities
have
agreed
to
finally
pay
the
government
a
36
million
fee
for
a
building
permit.
Gaudi
was
told
to
get
the
paperwork
processed,but
the
architect
failed
to
do
so—proceeding
with
construction.
The
money
from
the
church’s
permit
will
be
used
to
upgrade
transport
links
and
beautify
the
area.
Gaudi
played
an
active
role
in
directing
the
construction
of
the
Sagrada
Familia
until
his
death
in
1926.He
would
often
request
that
work
be
modified
and
adjusted
until
it
was
exactly
what
he
had
in
mind.
However,
interpretation
of
the
designs
by
present
day
architects
is
particularly
challenging
because
of
the
nature
of
the
existing
designs.
Gaudi
and
his
works
have
become
symbols
of
Barcelona,the
capital
city
of
Catalonia,northeast
Spain.
The
unfinished
building
is
called
a
masterpiece
of
Gothic
architecture
and
it
is
perhaps
the
most
unique
and
mysterious
building
in
the
style
ever
constructed.
The
popularity
of
the
site
with
tourists
has
helped
fund
the
push
to
complete
the
church
and
pay
for
the
paperwork.
( )8.What
do
we
know
about
the
Sagrada
Familia?
A.It
has
been
completely
constructed.
B.It
was
first
designed
by
Antoni
Gaudi.
C.It
will
get
a
building
permit
in
2026.
D.It
began
to
be
built
139
years
ago.
( )9.What
can
we
infer
about
Antoni
Gaudi?
A.He
wished
to
be
buried
in
the
church.
B.He
is
remembered
as
a
great
architect.
C.He
didn’t
know
a
permit
was
necessary.
D.He
is
to
blame
for
the
unfinished
church.
( )10.What
makes
the
Sagrada
Familia
so
popular?
A.Its
unusual
design
style.
B.Its
two
famous
architects.
C.Its
special
building
materials.
D.Its
illegal
construction
paperwork.
( )11.The
church
managed
to
pay
for
the
licence
    .?
A.in
the
support
of
the
government
B.by
reducing
construction
costs
C.with
the
aid
of
tourist
income
D.through
donations
from
architects

Friday
and
Saturday
were
full
of
surprises
for
Chinese,
as
two
places
in
China
were
listed
as
UNESCO
World
Heritage
sites.
The
first,
a
World
Natural
Heritage
site,
is
composed
of
a
series
of
migratory
bird
sanctuaries(候鸟保护区)
along
the
coast
of
the
Yellow
Sea
in
Yancheng,
east
China’s
Jiangsu
Province.
The
second,
the
Liangzhu
Archaeological
Site
in
Hangzhou,
east
China’s
Zhejiang
Province,
was
listed
as
a
World
Cultural
Heritage
site.
China
began
the
application
process
for
the
bird
sanctuaries
in
2017.
It
only
took
two
years
to
successfully
complete
the
process.
The
reason
the
migratory
bird
sanctuaries
application
was
successful
is
because
of
the
special
geographical
category
of
the
area.
It
is
the
largest
intertidal
mudflat
seashore
in
the
world.
The
success
of
this
application
marks
the
beginning
of
China’s
world
natural
heritage
from
land
to
sea.
The
migratory
bird
sanctuaries
are
the
central
node
of
the
East
Asian-Australasian
Flyway
and
many
endangered
species,
especially
threatened
migratory
birds
including
red-crowned
cranes
and
flamingos,
go
there
to
hunt
for
food
during
the
migration
season.
The
birds
usually
take
a
month
to
finish
their
migration.
At
about
10
days
into
their
migration,
they
must
stop
and
find
food
in
order
to
have
the
energy
to
continue
their
journey.
Compared
to
the
short
turnaround
for
the
World
Natural
Heritage’s
application,
the
Liangzhu
application
was
far
more
complicated.
The
application
team
spent
six
years
making
their
dream
a
reality.
A
lot
of
archaeological
work
had
to
be
carried
out
for
the
Liangzhu
site,
which
means
the
application
and
assessment(评定)
process
takes
a
longer
time.
The
site
in
Liangzhu
is
evidence
of
the
existence
of
an
early
regional
state
in
the
lower
reaches
of
the
Yangtze
River
during
the
late
Neolithic
period
in
China,
which
helps
fill
in
the
gaps
in
the
history
of
the
rice-cultivating
civilizations
of
China
and
East
Asia
more
than
5,000
years
ago.
The
site
was
one
of
the
20th
century’s
most
important
archaeological
discoveries
in
China.
With
these
two
new
additions,
China
now
has
55
World
Heritage
sites,
the
highest
number
in
the
world.
The
successful
application
means
greater
responsibility
and
obligations(义务).
Protecting
these
places
is
much
more
important
and
is
our
future
work.
The
new
status
of
the
migratory
bird
sanctuaries
might
boost
local
tourism
industries
but
this
too
poses
a
challenge
as
local
governments
will
need
to
control
tourist
volume
so
as
not
to
impact
the
birds’
migration
patterns.
Meanwhile,
the
sheer
area
that
the
Liangzhu
Archaeological
Site
covers,
some
14.3
square
kilometres,
makes
protection
a
difficult
issue
to
handle.
Those
workings
at
the
site
are
busy
constructing
protective
shelters
for
the
site
and
even
reburying
certain
areas
to
protect
them
from
exposure.
Plans
are
also
underway
to
build
a
local
museum
for
the
storage
and
display
of
artifacts,
so
visitors
can
come
and
learn
more
about
the
history
of
the
nation.
( )12.What
is
special
about
the
migratory
bird
sanctuaries?
A.It’s
the
first
China’s
world
natural
heritage
on
the
sea.
B.It
provides
safe
habitats
for
endangered
species.
C.It’s
located
along
the
coast
of
the
Yellow
River.
D.It
supplies
abundant
fresh
water
to
migratory
birds.
( )13.According
to
Paragraph
2,
how
do
migratory
bird
sanctuaries
protect
birds?
A.By
creating
warm
places
to
produce
baby
birds.
B.By
preventing
them
from
being
killed
by
hunters.
C.By
providing
food
supplies
during
their
migration.
D.By
curing
the
endangered
birds
after
their
journey.
( )14.Why
is
Liangzhu
chosen
for
the
World
Heritage
site?
A.It
shows
the
long
history
of
China.
B.It
proves
the
wisdom
of
the
people.
C.It
witnesses
the
civilization
of
an
age.
D.It
reveals
the
food
of
the
late
Neolithic.
( )15.What
is
the
last
paragraph
mainly
talking
about?
A.The
application
success’
promotion
of
tourism.
B.Chinese
responsibilities
after
the
successful
application.
C.The
two
places’
influence
on
Chinese
history.
D.Chinese
challenge
of
protecting
birds’
migration.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Don’t
judge
a
book
by
its
cover.
We
have
heard
that
advice
over
and
over
again.
And
it
makes
sense.
Why
should
we
judge
someone
who
is
overweight
simply
by
how
they
look?
It
has
nothing
to
do
with
them
as
a
person,
and
it
says
nothing
about
all
they
have
achieved
in
life.
16. We
should
not
judge
them
as
healthy
simply
because
they
are
thin.?
We
care
so
much
about
weight
that
we
think
those
who
succeed
in
keeping
a
“healthy
weight”
must
be
healthy.
Many
studies
have
shown
that
being
overweight
increases
the
risk
of
diabetes,
heart
disease,
and
even
death.17. Some
studies
just
look
at
pounds.
Some
use
body
mass
index(BMI)
which
includes
both
height
and
weight
measurements.
But
neither
one
says
anything
about
overall
health
for
sure.?
In
some
studies,
a
person’s
fitness
has
been
shown
to
be
more
important
than
overall
weight.
That
means
those
at
“normal”
weight,
but
below
average
fitness
could
be
at
higher
risk
than
fitter
and
heavier
people.18. ?
If
you
are
thin
and
want
to
know
if
your
health
may
be
at
risk,
whole
body
MRI
(磁共振成像)
can
tell
you
if
you
are
a
TOFI
(thin
on
the
outside,
fat
on
the
inside).
This
is
thought
to
increase
your
health
risk
even
if
you
have
a
perfect
body
weight.19.
Rather,
creating
and
keeping
healthy
lifestyle
habits
should
be
the
goal.?
Start
now
and
you
will
be
on
your
way
to
improving
your
overall
health.20. But
even
if
it
doesn’t,
rest
assured
you
are
still
improving
your
health
and
your
life.?
A.The
same
holds
true
for
thin
people.
B.Weight
loss
will
usually
naturally
follow.
C.The
article
mainly
talks
about
people
in
Australia.
D.So
weight
loss
should
not
be
what
we
always
dream
of.
E.How
many
times
do
you
say,
“She
looks
great!
Nice
and
thin!”?
F.But
the
problem
lies
with
how
we
can
know
we
are
overweight.
G.So
there
is
no
such
things
as
healthy
weight,
only
healthy
lifestyles.

A
pioneering

is
proving
that
you
can

your
dreams—even
in
a

Since
the
age
of

Chelsie

had
dreamed
of
becoming
a
dancer.
“The

that
I

she

That

was

that
put
her

and

For
most

that
would

it

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
On
Christmas
Eve,
seventy-three-year-old
George
selected
his
food
carefully.
Skim
milk
was
$2.99,
white
bread,
89
cents
with
a
10-cent
discount.
Leaving
the
cashier,
he
calculated
that
he
had
saved
80
cents
today.
At
the
exit,
the
wind
reminded
him
of
his
gloves.
“Where
are
they?”
Not
in
the
coat
pockets.
Not
in
the
grocery
bag
either.
He
was
sure
he
was
wearing
them
when
he
entered
the
store.
He
clearly
remembered
putting
them
into
the
pocket
of
this
coat.
George
made
a
second
thorough
search
of
all
his
pockets,
again
including
the
grocery
bag.
Now
he
was
sure
they
must
have
been
dropped
somewhere
inside
the
store.
Old
George
had
bought
the
black
leather
gloves
at
a
25%
discount,
for
just
$35.00,
ten
years
ago.
They
were
soft
and
warm
and
very
durable.
He
had
taken
care
not
to
let
a
drop
of
water
or
rain
touch
his
expensive
gloves,
so
they
looked
like
new.
Losing
this
favourite
possession
was
almost
like
losing
a
child
to
him.
George,
calm
on
the
outside
but
nervous
inside,
re-entered
the
store.
He
followed
the
same
route
he
had
walked
before,
starting
at
the
bread
counter,
to
the
milk
section,
the
corner
where
salt
and
sugar
were
placed,
then
the
rest
of
the
store.
Several
minutes
of
anxious
searching
turned
out
to
be
in
vain.
He
asked
the
customers
whether
they
saw
a
pair
of
black
leather
gloves,
but
they
said
no.
Then
he
went
over
to
the
cashier
without
hesitation
to
ask
if
she
had
received
any
lost
gloves,
but
only
received
the
same
answer.
His
heart
grew
heavier.
“Society
has
changed;
people
have
changed,”
he
murmured
to
himself.
“Years
ago,
if
somebody
picked
up
something
lost,
they
would
give
it
back.
Now
the
good
action
is
lost.”
Yet
he
did
not
give
up
hope.
He
started
to
stare
at
anybody
wearing
black
gloves
to
see
if
they
looked
like
his.
The
first
two
persons
he
saw
did
wear
gloves,
but
one
was
women’s
and
the
other
not
black.

33.A 从Hill分享自己的决心,到邀请像她一样的残疾女性参与舞蹈活动,
再到后面她到了更大城市组织舞蹈队,推理可知,对于Hill来说,这是一次令
人惊叹的经历。故选A。
