阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
I
lay
in
the
hospital
bed
with
my
six?year?old
daughter,
Elizabeth,
holding
her
in
my
arms.
“Mommy,
will
you
stay
with
me
the
whole
time?”
she
asked,
looking
up.
“You
know
I
can't
be
in
the
operating
room,”
I
said
carefully,
not
wanting
to
frighten
her.
“But
Daddy
and
I
will
be
waiting
right
outside.”
Elizabeth
nodded,
but
her
eyes
looked
troubled.
Elizabeth
had
broken
her
right
leg
in
July.
Seven
months
later,
it
still
hadn't
healed
(康复).
In
fact,
it
had
gotten
worse.
She
was
here
in
the
hospital
for
surgery
(手术).
I
wanted
to
tell
her
that
everything
would
be
okay
and
promise
that
this
would
be
the
last
time
she'd
have
to
go
through
this.
But
what
if
something
went
wrong
again?
How
could
I
comfort
my
daughter
when
I
needed
comfort
myself?
There
was
a
knock
at
the
door.
A
nurse?
I
thought.
Time
to
say
goodbye
already?
But
the
woman
who
came
in
wasn't
a
nurse.
“Hi,”
the
woman
said.
“I'm
a
volunteer
here,
and
I've
got
something
for
Elizabeth.”
She
handed
a
bright?blue
box
to
my
daughter.
Elizabeth
sat
up
and
took
the
box.
She
opened
it
and
started
pulling
out
goodies
one
by
one

candies,
stickers,
a
lovely
toy
in
the
shape
of
a
star.
She
hugged
the
star,
perking_up
for
the
first
time
since
she
entered
the
hospital.
“Thank
you,”
she
said.
“I
love
them.”
There
was
a
big
smile
on
her
face.
It
had
been
so
long
since
I
saw
that
big
smile.
The
gift
was
a
great
comfort
not
only
to
my
daughter,
but
also
to
me.

sure
of
the
result
herself
C.she
believed
everything
would
be
okay
D.she
thought

was
no
need

her

up”
means
“________”.
A.having
a
rest
B.thinking
carefully
C.doing
her
best
D.becoming
cheerful
B
One
part
of
the
world
is
still
largely
unexplored.
It
is
the
deep
sea.
Over
the
years,
many
people
have
explored
under
the
sea.
But
the
first
deep?sea
divers
wanted
to
find
sunken
treasure.
They
weren't
really
interested
in
studying
the
creatures
of
life
there.Only
recently
have
they
begun
to
learn
some
of
the
mysteries
of
the
sea.
It's
not
easy
to
explore
the
deep
sea.
A
diver
must
have
a
way
of
breathing
underwater.
He
must
be
able
to
protect
himself
from
great
pressure.
The
pressure
of
air
is
about
15
pounds
on
every
square
inch.
But
the
pressure
of
water
is
about
1,300
pounds
on
every
square
inch!
The
first
diving
suits
were
made
of
rubber.
They
had
a
metal
helmet
(头盔)
with
windows
in
it.
The
shoes
were
made
of
lead
and
weighed
twenty
pounds
each!
These
suits
let
divers
go
down
a
few
hundred
feet,
but
they
were
no
good
for
exploring
the
very
deep
waters.
With
a
metal
diving
suit,
a
diver
could
go
down
700
feet.
Metal
suits
were
first
used
in
the
1930s.
In
1927,
a
diver
named
William
Beebe
wanted
to
explore
deeper
than
anyone
had
ever
gone
before.
He
was
not
interested
in
finding
treasure.
He
wanted
to
study
the
creatures
and
plants
of
the
sea.
His
friend
invented
a
metal
ball
called
the
Bathysphere.
It
weighed
more
than
5,000
pounds,
but
in
it
Beebe
went
down
3,028
feet.
He
saw
many
things
that
had
never
been
seen
by
humans
before.
24.People
who
first
explored
the
deep
sea
hoped
to
________.
A.learn
about
the
animals
and
plants
of
the
sea
B.solve
some
mysteries
about
the
sea
C.have
an
exciting
trip
in
the
sea
D.discover
treasure
under
the
sea
25.According
to
the
text,
what
make(s)
deep?sea
diving
difficult?
A.The
pressure
of
water.
B.The
temperature
of
water.
C.The
dangerous
sea
creatures.
D.The
heavy
breathing
equipment.
26.What
do
we
know
about
William
Beebe
from
the
text?
A.He
broke
the
diving
record
in
his
time.
B.He
failed
to
find
the
treasure
he
wanted.
C.He
met
something
terrible
under
the
sea.
D.He
was
the
first
diver
to
explore
the
deep
sea.
C
It
seems
we
can't
get
off
the
planet
fast
enough.
Two
thirds
of
NASA's
money
is
spent
on
manned
space
exploration,
and
that
number
will
grow
with
the
USA's
decision
to
send
a
man
to
Mars
in
2037.
We've
seen
all
there
is
to
see
on
Earth,
right?
Wrong.
The
final
place
is
here,
under
the
surface
of
the
sea.
Heading
down
into
the
ocean,
human
limits
are
quickly
reached.
At
200
metres,
the
water
is
as
black
as
a
moonless
night.
Most
nuclear
submarines
(核潜艇)
would
implode
(内爆)
before
they
reach
1
km
down.
At
3
km

still
less
than
the
average
depth
of
the
ocean

there's
a
good
chance
that
you'll
discover
a
new
species.
The
deepest?diving
whales
go
no
further.
At
the
very
bottom,
about
11
km
down,
lies
the
Challenger
Deep,
the
deepest
part
of
the
Mariana
Trench
in
the
Pacific
Ocean.
Eighteen
humans
have
walked
on
the
Moon,
but
only
three
have
seen
the
Deep
with
their
own
eyes.
Yet
things
live
down
there.
Big
things.
A
very
loud
sound
was
once
heard
and
scientists
suggested
that
it
was
produced
by
an
animal
bigger
than
a
blue
whale,
the
largest
creature
known
on
the
planet.
In
the
late
1990s,
a
deep?water
submarine
was
dropped
in
the
Southern
Ocean,
and
passing
4,000
metres,
it
discovered
something
huge
passing
under
it.
Surprised?
Don't
be.
The
ocean
covers
70%
of
the
planet's
surface
and
we've
studied
less
than
5%
of
it.
We
know
more
about
the
dark
side
of
the
Moon
than
about
the
bottom
of
the
sea.
One
reason
that
we
explore
space
is
to
find
evidence
of
other
life
forms.
The
search
for
life
outside
of
Earth
is
important,
but
robots
can
look
under
the
dry
rocks
of
Mars
better
than
humans.
They're
absolutely
important
for
doing
ocean
research
too,
but
they
can't
look
under
the
sea.
The
cost
of
exploration
is
rising,
but
the
results
would
benefit
all
our
lives.
Understanding
the
oceans
will
help
us
find
new
sources
of
food,
drugs
and
energy.
Perhaps
now
it's
time
to
begin
a
new
period
of
sea
exploration.
Manned
exploration
of
space
is
science
fiction
(科幻小说).
The
adventure
of
the
deep
sea
is
science
fact.
27.What
do
the
examples
in
Paragraph
2
suggest?
A.Sea
exploration
is
no
easy
task.
B.Nuclear
submarines
need
to
be
improved.
C.The
ocean
is
far
deeper
than
people
expected.
D.The
condition
under
the
sea
is
similar
to
that
on
the
Moon.
28.What
do
we
know
about
the
Challenger
Deep?
A.Blue
whales
live
there.
B.No
one
has
ever
been
there.
C.People
are
terrified
by
the
sight
of
it.
D.It
is
the
deepest
known
location
on
Earth.
29.What
does
the
author
think
of
the
discovery
in
the
Southern
Ocean?
A.It's
surprising.
B.It's
no
wonder.
C.It's
worrying.
D.It's
no
success.
30.What
does
the
author
want
to
tell
us?
A.Space
exploration
is
of
little
value.
B.We
spend
too
much
money
on
space
travel.
C.Humans'
success
lies
in
how
much
they
explore
the
sea.
D.The
ocean
is
the
place
where
we
should
make
our
efforts.

第二节:读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Once
upon
a
time
there
lived
a
stone_cutter
who
was
dissatisfied
with
his
life.
One
day,
on
his
way
to
work,
he
passed
by
a
beautiful
house.
It
belonged
to
a
rich
merchant.
From
where
he
stood,
he
saw
fine
possessions,
honorable
guests,
and
plenty
of
workers
and
servants
all
set
to
work.
He
became
envious
and
deeply
wished
to
have
everything
the
wealthy
and
powerful
merchant
did.
Suddenly,
the
stone
cutter
changed
into
the
merchant
taking
over
his
mind
and
body.
He
was
aware
of
the
merchant's
innermost
feelings,
thoughts
and
memories.
He
felt
the_joy
of
owning
all
the
luxuries
in
the
world.
He
knew
the
pleasure
of
holding
such
a_respectable_position
in
the
society.
Many
honored
him.
After
a
few
days
of
enjoying
the
merchant's
life,
he
saw
a
king
being
carried
in
a
luxurious
chair
accompanied
by
attendants,
soldiers
and
servants.
Everyone,
despite
of
their
power
and
wealth,_was
forced
to
bow
before
this
figure
that
was
worshiped
as
God.
After
seeing
this,
he
realized
he
had
been
mistaken
about
the
merchant's
power
and
status.
In
a
split
second,
he
moved
into
the
body
of
the
king,
mighty
and
fearless.
Then
he
knew
what
it
felt
like
to
be
praised
and
glorified
by
the
entire
kingdom,
to
hold
the
power
to
pardon
or
take
a
man's
life
and
what
it
was
like
to
be
respected
by
kings
from
other
lands.
One
day,
on
a
hot
summer
noon,
he
was
extremely
uneasy.
His
overweight
body
made
the
heat
even
more
intolerable.
He
looked
up
at
the
sun
and
thought
about
how
it
was
absolutely
unaffected
by
his
presence.
He
then
swiftly
became
the
sun,
shining
with
glory,
the
source
of
life
and
strength
of
every
living
creature
on
the
planet.
注意:
1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;
2.至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语;
3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;

Nowadays,
more
and
more
people
are
tired
of
talking
about
work
topic,
not
necessarily
because
they
are
lazy,
but
because
the
pressure
is
too
heavy
or
the
job
is
so
boring
that
people
don't
like
it.
However,
somebody
has
to
do
ordinary
jobs
such
as
cleaning
streets.
They
play
an
important
part
in
the
city
environment.
On
one
hand,
they
must
get
up
in
the
early
morning
every
day
to
clean
the
street
while
we
are
still
in
the
sweet
sleeping
dreams.
On
the
other
hand,
they
also
suffer
from
less
respect
and
lower
pay,
working
all
day
in
the
street
no
matter
it
is
a
windy,
rainy
or
snowy
day.
Nobody
could
imagine
what
a
bad
environment
we
would
live
in
if
there
were
no
cleaners
in
the
city.
Maybe
we
would
soon
be
drowned
in
the
mountain
of
rubbish.
Worse
still,
if
there
were
no
change
about
that,
diseases
would
spread
at
a
very
quick
speed.
Is
there
anything
that
can
be
worse
than
this?
Therefore,
we
can
say
the
smallest
and
the
most
ordinary
job
is
also
a
necessary
part
to
keep
the
society
going
smoothly.Those
who
do
those
most
significant
jobs
should
get
respect
as
much
as
those
being
engineers
or
teachers.

21.
D
细节理解题。根据第一段的“‘You
know
I
can't
be
in
the
operating
room,’
I
said
carefully,
not
wanting
to
frighten
her.”可知,作者不能进入手术室,这使得女儿有些紧张。
22.
B
推理判断题。根据第三段的“But
what
if
something
went
wrong
again?”可知,作者没法给女儿许诺,因为她自己也不确定手术结果。
23.
D
词义猜测题。根据下文“There
was
a
big
smile
on
her
face.”可知,女儿很高兴。所以perk
up意为“愉快、活跃起来”。
24.
D
细节理解题。根据第一段中的“But
the
first
deep?sea
divers
wanted
to
find
sunken
treasure.”可知,人们最初探测深海是想寻找沉入海底的金银财宝。
25.
A
细节理解题。根据第二段中的“He
must
be
able
to
protect
himself
from
great
pressure...the
pressure
of
water
is
about
1,300
pounds
on
every
square
inch!”可知,水压很大,这使得在深海中潜水非常困难。
26.
A
推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“William
Beebe
wanted
to
explore
deeper
than
anyone
had
ever
gone
before”和“Beebe
went
down
3,028
feet.
He
saw
many
things
that
had
never
been
seen
by
humans
before.”可推断,Beebe通过探海球(the
Bathysphere)探测到了更深的海域,打破了以往的潜水纪录。
27.
A
推理判断题。第二段列举各个深度海洋的情况是为了说明海洋探索不是一件容易的事。
28.
D细节理解题。根据第二段中的“the
Challenger
Deep,
the
deepest
part
of
the
Mariana
Trench
in
the
Pacific
Ocean”可知,挑战号深渊是地球上目前已知的最深的海底。
29.
B
推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Surprised?
Don't
be.
The
ocean
covers
70%
of
the
planet's
surface
and
we've
studied
less
than
5%
of
it.
We
know
more
about
the
dark
side
of
the
Moon
than
about
the
bottom
of
the
sea.”可推测,作者认为南冰洋中可能存在比蓝鲸更大生物的发现不足为奇。
30.
D写作意图题。作者在文章第一段就点出自己的观点:The
final
place
is
here,
under
the
surface
of
the
sea,并在接下来的段落中具体论述海洋探索的重大意义。由此可知,D项概括了文章主旨。

the
position”可知,本段主要谈论在求职信中解释你为什么想得到这个职位。成功地回答为什么要申请这个职位表明你认真思考过这个问题,也表明你是一位认真的求职者。
35.D 由本段的“an
explanation
of
your

far可知,此处用现在完成时。
59.improving考查非谓语动词。such
as是介词短语,后面接动词的?ing形式。
60.an考查冠词。此处指作为一个重要的地方。point是可数名词,前面加不定冠词表示数量一。important以元音音素开头,所以用量一。important以元音音素开头,所以用不定冠词an。

62.greatly考查副词。副词greatly修饰前面的动词improve。
63.opened考查非谓语动词。过去分词作定语。newly
opened作定语修饰new
container
shipping
lines。根据时间状语2017可知,open这一动作发生在过去,且open和被修饰词之间是被动关系,所以用过去分词。
64.to考查介词。on
one's
way
to...在……的路上。
65.that/which考查定语从句。关系代词that/which引导定语从句,修饰great

incredible
power
of
its
existence
as
it
could
flood
everything
that
it
wished
to.
Not
too
late
did
he
realize_
that
the
entire
root
of
his
power
was
yet
another
force—wind.
The
strength
of
the
rain
was
not
worth
mentioning
without
the
wind.
And
so
he
became
it,
blowing
off
the
roofs
of
houses,
and
uprooting
trees
and
everything
else
that
came
in
its
way.
Paragraph
2:
There
was
yet
another
force
that
faded
the
wind's
ego—a
huge
towering
rock.
The
wind
would
low
against
it
with
a
speed
and
force
of
the
ultimate
strength.
The
rock
would
stand
still
and
unmoved.
He
then
became
it,
a
solid,
dense,
immortal
and
powerful
substance
on
earth.
After
a
while,
he
heard
a
familiar
sound,
which
was
heard
when
a
rock
was
stricken
by
a
set
of
tools.
He
then
felt
himself
being
cut,
and
reformed.
He
looked
down
at
the
artist,
the
figure
of
a
stone_cutter!
He
then
became
a
stone
cutter
again.
