The New Curriculum for English is designed to develop Ss’ overall ability, which pay more attention to the comprehensive development of language knowledge, learning skills, strategies, affects, cultural awareness, in order to lay a good function for continuing attitude foe learning English, enabling the acquisition of good pronunciation and intonation, cultivating pupil’ sense, laying a good basis for further study.
II. Teaching material and learning condition
2.1 The analysis of teaching martial
This passage mainly talks about the Olympic Games. The structure of this passage is very clear:
Part 1: the information of how often does the Olympic Games hold.
Part 2: some items of winter Olympic Games.
Part 3: the information of who can take part in the Olympic Games.
Part 4: the information of why so many countries want to hold the Olympic Games.
Part 5: the information of next Olympic Games.
Part 6: the motto of the Olympic Games.
2.2 The analysis of learning condition
As senior 2, my Ss are on the way of maturation both physically and mentally. They tend to pursuit and explore new things and they are full of curiosity. Besides, they have had many years’ experience of learning English, so the class activities will be easily activated.
But due to the immaturity and lack of English vocabulary, Ss will need the help of T and the support from their peers, so T should well present the background information of the Olympic Games.
III. Language focuses and anticipated difficulties
3.1 The analysis of the Language focuses
(1) Some useful words and expressions such as athlete/ admit/ slave/ nowadays/ stadium/ gymnasium/ host/ responsibility/ replace/ swifter.
(2) Some useful phrases such as regular basis/ join in/ as well.
3.3 The analysis of the anticipated difficulties
(1) New words and phrases may cause difficulty for Ss to understand the passage
(2) Reading skills such as skimming, scanning and summarizing are difficult for Ss.
(3) Rushing into a situational communication may cause confusion and dissatisfactions.
Solution: three-stage model, communicative method, situational method, level-based.

Reflection of this lesson plan
In this lesson, I fully follow the Ss-center principle, and I design activities to develop Ss’ leering ability by training their reading skills of skimming, scanning and summarizing. In such a way, most Ss will get involved in the class activities and learn effectively.
Activity 2 in the while-reading part is a creative design. In such a way, T can not only arouse Ss’ interest, but also train the ability of debating and make them consolidate the knowledge we have learned in the lesson.
