Returning
to
a
book
you've
read
many
times
can
feel
like
drinks
with
an
old
friend.
There's
a
welcome
familiarity—but
also
sometimes
a
slight
suspicion
that
time
has
changed
you
both,
and
thus
the
relationship.
But
books
don't
change,
people
do.
And
that's
what
makes
the
act
of
rereading
so
rich
and
transformative.
The
beauty
of
rereading
lies
in
the
idea
that
our
bond
with
the
work
is
based
on
our
present
mental
register.
It's
true,
the
older
I
get,
the
more
I
feel
time
has
wings.
But
with
reading,
it's
all
about
the
present.
It's
about
the
now
and
what
one
contributes
to
the
now,
because
reading
is
a
give
and
take
between
author
and
reader.
Each
has
to
pull
their
own
weight.
There
are
three
books
I
reread
annually.
The
first,
which
I
take
to
reading
every
spring,
is
Ernest
Hemingway's
A
Moveable
Feast.
Published
in
1964,
it's
his
classic
memoir
of
1920s
Paris.
The
language
is
almost
intoxicating(令人陶醉的),
an
aging
writer
looking
back
on
an
ambitious
yet
simpler
time.
Another
is
Annie
Dillard's
Holy
the
Firm,
her
poetic
1975
ramble(随笔)about
everything
and
nothing.
The
third
book
is
Julio
Cort?zar's
Save
Twilight:Selected
Poems,
because
poetry.
And
because
Cort?zar.
While
I
tend
to
buy
a
lot
of
books,
these
three
were
given
to
me
as
gifts,
which
might
add
to
the
meaning
I
attach
to
them.
But
I
imagine
that,
while
money
is
indeed
wonderful
and
necessary,
rereading
an
author's
work
is
the
highest
currency
a
reader
can
pay
them.
The
best
books
are
the
ones
that
open
further
as
time
passes.
But
remember,
it's
you
that
has
to
grow
and
read
and
reread
in
order
to
better
understand
your
friends.
1.Why
does
the
author
like
rereading?
A.It
evaluates
the
writer-reader
relationship.
B.It's
a
window
to
a
whole
new
world.
C.It's
a
substitute
for
drinking
with
a
friend.
D.It
extends
the
understanding
of
oneself.
2.What
do
we
know
about
the
book
A
Moveable
Feast?
A.It's
a
brief
account
of
a
trip.
B.It's
about
Hemingway's
life
as
a
young
man.
C.It's
a
record
of
a
historic
event.
D.It's
about
Hemingway's
friends
in
Paris.
3.What
does
the
underlined
word
“currency”
in
paragraph
4
refer
to?
A.Debt.
B.Reward.
C.Allowance. D.Face
value.
4.What
can
we
infer
about
the
author
from
the
text?
A.He
loves
poetry.
B.He's
an
editor.
C.He's
very
ambitious.
D.He
teaches
reading.

Myles
Kerr
knew
that
being
a
Marine
(水兵)
comes
with
a
lot
of
responsibility,
but
despite
the
huge
weight
he
has
on
his
shoulders,
he
has
not
forgotten
the
essence
of
being
a
public
servant—that
of
being
a
human.
Seven
years
ago,
a
photo
of
a
Marine
and
a
young
boy
running
a
marathon
immediately
went
viral
after
it
was
shared
on
social
media.
But
what
seemed
like
a
simple
image
packed
a
much
deeper
back
story.
This
story
happened
in
2013,
but
its
relevance
is
still
as
powerful
as
ever.
The
pair
were
running
The
Jeff
Drench
Memorial
in
Charlevoix,
Michigan
when
Myles
Kerr
came
across
Brandon
Fuchs,
a
9-year-old
boy
struggling
to
keep
up
with
the
rest
of
his
group.
Brandon,
exhausted
and
out
of
breath,
asked
the
Marine,
“Will
you
run
with
me?”
People
who
had
their
eye
on
the
prize
would
have
refused,
but
the
19-year-old
was
different.
Being
a
Marine,
he
knew
exactly
what
he
should
do.
Kerr
put
aside
his
goal
of
beating
his
mates
and
instead
slowed
down
to
accompany
the
struggling
boy
to
the
finish
line.
Because
he
chose
to
help
the
boy,
the
Marine
ended
up
with
the
slowest
time
in
his
age
group,
according
to
the
results
online.
Though
he
might
have
lost
the
race,
the
Marine
won
over
people's
hearts.
His
act
of
kindness
was
celebrated
on
social
media.
Kerr
didn't
expect
that
his
simple
gesture
would
attract
so
much
attention.
He
responded
to
a
tweet
praising
his
actions
saying,
“I
was
just
doing
what
any
man
would
do,
but
thank
you!”
He
also
tweeted
that
he
received
gifts
from
the
Fuchs
family
for
helping
out
Brandon.
To
Kerr,
being
a
Marine
was
more
than
just
being
trained
for
combat—it
also
required
learning
how
to
be
kind
and
compassionate
towards
the
citizens
they
serve.

the
boy.

get
the

score
in

(B)
In
springtime,
many
Americans
take
on
a
major
project:
cleaning
their
homes
from
top
to
bottom.
We
often
call
this
kind
of
work
“spring
cleaning”.
Part
of
spring
cleaning
often
involves
clearing
out
clutter
(杂物).
We
do
away
with
things
we
no
longer
need.
If
we
are
to
believe
the
many
stories
on
Marie
Kondo,
the
Queen
of
Clean,
clutter
adds
unnecessary
stress
to
our
lives.
Clutter
is
holding
us
back
from
our
dreams
and
goals.
6 ?
An
expert
on
the
subject,
Sabine
Kastner
of
Princeton
University,
has
been
studying
how
the
brain
processes
clutter
for
20
years.
The
media,
Kastner
says,
often
writes
about
clutter
in
a
very
simple,
black-and-white
way:
Clutter
affects
the
mind
and
we
need
to
clear
it
out.
But
it
is
much
more
complex
than
that.
For
starters,
our
brains
are
designed
to
deal
with
clutter.
Very
early
in
the
development
of
our
eyesight,
we
begin
to
group
objects
that
we
see.
7 ?
According
to
Kastner,
there
is
not
a
one-size-fits-all
solution.
8
In
fact,
some
people
need
to
see
their
work.
If
something
is
carefully
put
away,
to
them
it
does
not
exist
anymore.
Out
of
sight,
out
of
mind.
For
other
people,
objects
can
stimulate
their
creativity
and
give
them
ideas.?
9
Kastner
notes
that
some
people
may
get
distracted
by
having
lots
of
things
around
them.
These
people
may
need
more
organization
and
less
clutter
to
work
well.
?
10
Whether
the
area
is
cluttered
or
clear—they
work
the
same.
And
for
others
it
may
depend
on
the
project.
For
administrative
work,
they
might
need
a
clear
workspace.
But
for
more
creative
projects,
they
may
need
many
things
around
them.
It
is
complex.?
A.But
is
it
true?
B.What
is
working
and
what
is
not?
C.Some
people
do
not
care
either
way.
D.This
helps
us
to
structure
our
environment.
E.People
need
to
be
able
to
design
their
workplaces.
F.The
idea
that
an
uncluttered
workplace
is
better,
is
not
universally
true.
G.However,
other
people
are
unable
to
work
in
a
cluttered
environment.

1.G 细节句。本段为总体概述。上句“However,
many
famous
landmarks
no
longer
look
the
same.”与G项:They
have
changed
significantly.相衔接。故答案为G项。
2.E 细节句。根据设空处后的“Then”可知本部分是根据时间顺序陈述的。上句介绍的是金门大桥的竣工(complete)情况,本句应为“通车情况”。故选E项。
