Unit5 单元完形填空专项练习
Over the past 20 years, I have watched the Lion King for more than a dozen of times.
When I first watched the movie, the 1 of Mufasa's death made me﹣a six﹣year﹣old girl at that time﹣cry, and since then, I have always skipped(跳过) that part.Later on, during my middle﹣school years, I liked the love story part a lot, and Simba and Nala were really a 2 couple in my heart.Every time I watched the movie, I felt 3 .
Recently, I've watched the Lion King again. This time, what impressed me most was the 4 of Pumbaa and Timon﹣they were ordinary and lived an ordinary life. Before joining Simba to regain his kingdom, all about their life were eating and singing.
To me, the best lesson that Pumbaa and Timon have taught us is that 5 they know they are ordinary and their life is ordinary, they still love and enjoy it.
In fact, in the real world, only quite a few people can achieve great things and become extraordinary, and the rest of us will just live our 6 life.
A sentence in an article recommended by the Fair(WeChat Subscription) 7 me: by hard work, ordinary people only fight for the right to 8 their ordinary life in the ordinary world. It is cruel, but it is true(at least in my opinion).
The best solution is to accept and enjoy it.I know it's 9 but this is a part of growing up.I'm not saying that we should not have great dreams, after all, just as Vince Lombardi has said, "Perfection is not attainable (可达到的), but if we chase perfection we can 10 excellence".However, I just think we should get 11 if our great dreams would never come true.
I also dreamt about becoming extraordinary at a young age, same as most of my fellow classmates in primary school. In the senior high school, I was no longer one of the top students, and then, for the very first time, I realized that maybe I couldn't be extraordinary.
Now, I'm well aware that I'm no more than an ordinary person but I'm 12 with that I went to an ordinary university and got my BA in English, and then to another ordinary university and received my MA in translation.Doing the editor's job, I now earn myself a life in Shanghai, such an expensive metropolitan city to live in.
I can't 13 Michael Kors or Issey Miyake, but I have comfortable clothes which fit me well.I usually go out dinner with a couple of friends on weekends, not fancy of first class restaurants but sidewalk café or common restaurants where we know there are delicious food and nice 14 .
I consider this not the passive acceptance, but a(n)optimistic attitude of turning "this is life" to "this is the life".But all in all, I still have 15 , just in case they would become true one day.
Yes, be ordinary and be happy.

We recently moved to a house in Dallas. My brother stated to act very 16 .He would sit in his room the whole day with the door closed and not go out even for supper. I was really 17 by the way he acted, because he normally was a nice and kind little boy 18 would often go out and play with the neighbors and would just be outside, 19 the day. We went to talk to his teacher. The teacher mentioned that my brother and a kid from a 20 grade started “hanging out”away from the rest of the kids. My mom thought it a good thing, thinking it meant that my brother had started to make new friends.
One day, he came home 21 and had a huge cut in his upper left arm, and as soon as he heard my voice, he stopped crying and covered up his arm, pretending 22 nothing had happened. I uncovered his arm and looked at the cut 23 my eyes wide open, not believing what I saw. I started asking his questions about what had happened. After a while, he 24 and started telling me that the bigger kid had stolen his lunch several 25 and started hitting him when he fought back.
We went back to the living room and told our parents 26 . They felt very angry, too. The next day we went to the school and told the teachers and the headmaster what the kid was doing to my brother. They called the kid’s 27 and talked to them about all the bad things their son had done to my brother. After that, my brother became 28 happy little boy he used to be before coming to this town.
My point is: If you are being bullied, report it 29 it is too late. There are people such as teachers, headmasters and 30 your parents who can help you get through.

Ronny’s Book
Ronny looked like every other kid in the first-grade classroom where I volunteered as the Reading Mom. However, Ronny was different from his classmates in other ways. He had a speech problem so he couldn’t 76 like other kids in his grade.
I worked with all the students in Ronny’s class one by one to improve their reading skills. On the days when it was Ronny’s 77 , I’d give him a silent smile, and he’d fly out of his chair. He sat very close to me and opened the book as if he was opening a treasure nobody had ever seen.
I watched his 78 move slowly under each letter as he struggled (努力) to read out. Every time he 79 to read a word with a strange pronunciation, the biggest smile would spread across his face and his eyes would shine with 80 . It broke my heart each and every time.
A few weeks 81 the school year ended, I held an awards ceremony (颁奖典礼). I 82 Ronny with a book — one of those Little Golden Books that only cost $5. Tears ran down his face as he held the book close to him and went 83 to his seat. I stayed with the class for the rest of the day. Ronny never let go of (放开) the 84 , not once. It never left his hands.
A few days later, I returned to the school to visit. I 85 Ronny on a chair near the playground, the book open in his lap. His teacher said, “He hasn’t put that book down since you gave it to him. Do you know that’s his 86 book he’s ever actually owned?”
Keeping back my tears, I walked towards Ronny, placed my hand on his shoulder and asked, “Will you read me your book, Ronny?” And then, for the next few minutes, he read to me more 87 than I’d ever thought possible from him. The pages were already dog-eared (卷角的), like the book had been read thousands of 88 already. When he finished reading, Ronny closed his book and said with great satisfaction(满意), “ 89 book!”
What a powerful contribution the writer of that Little Golden Book had made in the life of a disadvantaged child. At that moment, I knew I would become 90 about my own writing and do what that writer had done, and probably still does — care enough to write a story that changes a child’s life, care enough to make a difference.
